41 | Questioning Apostasy | John 10:28 | son of god | 207641
Yes,I do question apostacy particularly in Luke 8:13 the word never took root. those that fall away were never saved in the first place. He says and a stranger will not they follow, but will flee from him; for they know not the voice of strangers John10: see al of John 10. the people in the passages you mentioned were as hirelingss and were never truely committed in the first place like Demas Phil. 2:20 and 2nd Timothy 4:10. when ever I prepare bible messesages I sometimes use atheist literature to weigh thier unbelief, most people are afraid to even visit an atheist web site, unfortunately there are some self professed Christians that have weak and wavering faith. Again these folk are not ever saved in the first place they are just pretenders. that is why Jesus says in Matthew 7:21 not everyone that saith unto me Lord Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. I am talking about saved for real and not just Church goers. Yet you make a good point for a theory.
42 | Questioning Apostasy | John 10:28 | son of god | 207667
Not wanting to debate either, but this is why people church hop because they are not committed to anything in particular especially the Lord. What I am trying to convey is that church membership is like belonging to a social club and does not mean one is a true believer. a true disciple that is a disciple indeed does not get offended by his brother to the point of comming to blows, which is why some fall away. I know people that have left the faith because they could not get along with anyone.
43 | heaven | John 14:6 | son of god | 207774
I dont know about anyone going up to heaven, because in Revealation 21 it says Heaven will be comming down. That is why Jesus taught his disciples to pray thy kingdom come thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. But to answer the heart of your question You MUST be born again.
44 | Death God's friend or enemy? | 1 Cor 15:25 | son of god | 207496
I hate to burst your bubble flinty Joe, but it has not yet been determined who will and will not be in heaven only God knows, see Revealation 20:10-15.
45 | Death Gods friend or enemy? | 1 Cor 15:25 | son of god | 207551
I suppose you are absolutely right, because according to 2nd Corithians 5:8 it says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. On the other hand in verse 10 and again in Revealation 20:15 we see that does not mean they will necessarily stay there. great observation.I take it that you believe in post tribulation rapture?
46 | Why is death God's enemy? | 1 Cor 15:25 | son of god | 207645
Christ was not necessarily afraid of death itself, he knew he would be ressurected, thats why he said destroy this temple and in three days I will rebuild it.John 2:19 when he said let this cup pass from me he was talking about taking on the sins of the world and being scouraged.
47 | Why is death God's enemy? | 1 Cor 15:25 | son of god | 207773
I dont feel that the bible ever contridicts itself, thats why it is called a two edged sword because it discerns the thoughts and intents of the heart. it only appears as a contridiction when we bring our own agenda to it and take it out of context. in Romans 8:29 Paul says For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his son, that he might be the firstborn of many brothern. This is justified by Christ statement in Matt.25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepard divideth his sheep from the goats: That is also the sentiment of Matt.13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. If people feel they may loose thier salvation, that means they probably do not have any to loose. For without faith it is imposible to please God Hebrews 11:6. |

49 | After death is spirit with w / you? | 2 Corinthians | son of god | 206965
Necromancy- is the art of conjuring up the spirits of the dead, for the purpose of revealing the future. this is straight from the devil. It is also called divination or demonology. The first record of this practice is found in Deuteronomy 18:9-12 it was strickly forbidden by God. In the new testament in Acts 16 Paul cast out a spirit of divination out of a young girl and was cast in jail and the Holy Spirit freed Paul and Silas and God got the glory. please stay away from soothsayers, the ocult and devil worshippers.

To answer your request for scripture reference 2nd Corinthians 5:8 to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord. As far as your granny is concerned she is with Jesus awaiting judgement Hebrews 9:27
51 | Disciples One With Christ? | Eph 2:5 | son of god | 206605
Brother Bowler, in luke 9:1, Jesus calls out his Apostles and gives them power and aurthority over all Devils and the ability to cure diseases and they bring others to christ. luke 10:1 Jesus sends out seventy others and gives them the same assignment. the 10th chapter of luke is a continuation of chapter 9. in verse 19 Jesus tells them not to glory that they have power over Devils but glory rather that thier names are written in heaven. you can also find a condensed version of this account in Matthew 10, also in Matthews account it gives a list of the twelve and No L.uke was not an original member of the twelve but he was a companion of Paul. God Bless and keep digging |

52 | Marriage as a Covenant Relationship? | Eph 5:32 | son of god | 206775
first of all that is a mis-quote the bible never says marriage is a like christ and the church, it says for husbands to love thier wives as christ loved the church. christ is the bridegroom and the church is the bride. the scripture does not command women to love thier husbands in the same manner but to be subject to them in everthing, read carefully Ephesians 5:22-33.
53 | Marriage as a Covenant Relationship? | Eph 5:32 | son of god | 206803
this titus reference is an admonition from the older women and not a commandment from the Lord.
54 | Marriage as a Covenant Relationship? | Eph 5:32 | son of god | 206847
I meant it is an admonision from the older women to the younger women. when interpreting scripture we must be careful of context, every passage of scripture is not necessarily an all inclusive statement that is applicable to everyone for example Matthew 27:5 says Judas went and hanged himself and luke 10:37 Jesus says go and do thou likewise.in the book of Titus Paul is telling Titus how the saints in Crete should exhort one another. Dont get me wrong there is nothing wrong with women loving thier husbans its just that it is not a command from the Lord.
55 | Marriage as a Covenant Relationship? | Eph 5:32 | son of god | 206895
john 15:17 Jesus commands all disciples to love one another. In the Ephesians passage Paul tells husbands to love thier wives the way Christ loved the church. He did not instruct wives to love in the same manner. when we learn to embrace our differences then we may experience true love.No I am not a male chauvanist, however if we study Genesis chapter 3, we see God gave male and female two distictly different roles in this play called life, in which he is the choreographer.
56 | Marriage as a Covenant Relationship? | Eph 5:32 | son of god | 206958
according to the by laws of this study bible forum this is not the place for arguments and promoting ones own personal agenda, so I am sending you an e-mail at your address stevbutler51@yahoo.com, we are just going in circles here like a program stuck in a loop
57 | how do i get control of my will? | Colossians | son of god | 207695
See Colossians 2:18-23 and quit focusing on your habits. Do you think your habit are stronger than the blood of Jesus?.Stop condemning yourself and just take it one day at a time. Some of the most evil people in the world have never smoked a cigarette. meditate on Matt.6:33 seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God and his rightousness and all these things shall be added unto you. keep in mind these things are not limited to material things but spiritual things as well things such as power over the enemy. Above all pray and dont give up. The Saints are praying for you. |

58 | too deep | 1 Tim 1:4 | son of god | 207171
To all my brothers and sisters that obsess with how many generations from prophet A to prophet B and who was king of what tribe and when and all other manner of bible trivia, while I commend you on your zeal know the innermost things of God,beware of allowing knowledge to become an idol, rather concern yourselves with things having to do with salvation and walking in brotherly love and unity of the body of Christ. conentrate on pauls admonision to Timothy I Timothy 1:4,5,6,7.dont try to be soo deep!
59 | too deep | 1 Tim 1:4 | son of god | 207202
Brother Hank, I enjoyed your story of the old and young preachers. Your post was very well put.I suppose the phrase Bible trivia is a poor choice of words.I believe what Paul was saying is that when we focus on the old covenent, we trivialize the redeemptive work of Christ. Yes indeed all scripture is God-Breath 2nd Timothy 3:16 and there is nothing trivial about the Lord God Almighty
60 | Adam and Eve Perfect or Flawed | 1 Tim 2:11 | son of god | 208206
great question; but first of all God never commanded the woman, as she was created after the fact. I feel this senario speaks to the deceptiveness of Satan. This was Gods permissive will at play. Just as he did with Pharoh and Iscariot, it was all a part of his divine plan. God could have intervened, just as he did in Genesis chapter 20:3 when Abimelech would have slept with Sarah. We are all guilty of trying to over spiritualize everything. But we are never more spiritual than when we are in the common clutches of human existance.
