Thanks Mark. Just needed the assurance that I'm not wrong.
42 | Can we borrow or lend? | Acts | ngkh | 157372
I am doing "financial freedom" course at church by the Institute in basic Life priciples (Men's manual,Volume II) and basically, we are not to borrow and also not lend. I find it difficult to comply. If I want to buy a house and I do not have the money to pay in full. How am I ever to own a house. Even if I were to save for several years ( same amount of the instalments) by the time I got the money, inflation considering, the cost of the house then would have been higher and I'm back to square one. Does it mean that God does not want us to own a house? About not lending - Matthew 5:42 Give to him who ask of you and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you. Who is right? |

43 | Need help to get into the bible | John | ngkh | 156014
Hi, I started to read Christian books 1st for e.g Derek Prince's books where scriptures were given for whatever topic is being done. I would strongly recommend Foundations for Righteous Living by Derek Prince. Then I would refer to the bible to get a better context. So you can say that I'm jumping here and there as far as scriptures is concerned. I tried to read Genesis first but like the Lord of the Rings which I got lost at epilog, I found it very hard to read. However, I believe God had made things easier for me. Audio Bible. I'm a far better listener than a reader and so I was listening to the bible cd when I'm traveling in my car thru traffic jams and in no time, I've finished with OT and the 4 Gospels.( Faith comes by hearing, and hearing of the Word?) The 4 gospels were easier to understand but I had a change in mindset after reading/listening to Paul's epistles. I also believe that listening to past sermons (from my church as well as others) which had been taped will eventually get you to read the bible as you will be slowly slowly but surely being drawn to seek the Word just as I did. Just sharing my experience although it may not be the correct way. |

45 | Thank you, Doc | Prov 3:5 | ngkh | 155553
Thank you, Doc for your thoughts and your explanation. Never did I thought the way you did. Perhaps I had been wrong all this while for in the past 2 over years, I never did once try to understand myself. It was always the Word and after I went thru Romans thru Hebrews, I believed that my old self should have died with Christ and my new is being crafted by our Lord in his own ways and time. That's how I see it in my growth. He had always eqquipped me with brothers and sisters like yourself to guide me. I have always relied on Him to move me and I can feel that I am moving. I do confess however that it makes me arrogant and prideful at times and God do rebuke with scriptures to tow me back to line. It is ironic that before my rebirth, I was always fighting the Word, looking for contradictions and doubts with my carnal mind but then God convicted me via the Word and now I am fighting for the Word telling others not to use their carnal mind to understand God's will which includes understanding ourselves and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us or take charge as we go along. Just seek, obey and receive, I believe. Isaiah 55:8-9 8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. 9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Thus, if I try to understand ourselves, I might understand wrongly. After all I am still human and might follow on the wrong path cos I cannot determine if what my thoughts is God's will. I am still very much how people would say "heart hardened" about how I feel. I would need time to digest what you wrote and am very thankful for your thoughts. Perhaps, if its not too much trouble, I would appreciate your prayer to allow me to see the light. God Bless ps. Incidently, I do read the postings almost everyday. Just that I felt a bit inadequate to contribute. |

46 | To seek God must we also seek ourselves? | Prov 3:5 | ngkh | 155511
My home group is currently doing a word study using the book by Selwyn Hughes - Every Day with Jesus - The Christian's True Identity. The author states that a Christian is a person with two identities - their natural and the new one given by God. Now the issue is, the author states that it is vital that we know something about ourselves. Any attempt to know more about God without desiring to know more about ourselves and our spiritual identity will result in an unbalanced type of christian living. The author also added that as an e.g. a pastor of a very successful church and appeared to have a deep knowledge of God but little about himself led him to commit a sin which ruined his ministry. Now, I do not agree that we should look at ourselves following my understanding of Paul's epistles in Romans and Galatians about seeking one's carnal mind. Proverbs 3:5-6 clearly states that we do not lean on our own understanding. 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him,and he will make your paths straight. Psalm 139:23-24 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. All my other home group members do not agree with me. Am I wrong? Thanks |

48 | How do you have faith? | Heb 13:5 | ngkh | 153509
Hi Samantha, When I was born again and began my walk, there were lots of events in the bible that I did not quite agree nor understand especially in the OT. But then God is good that I get answers very quickly thru the bible, my leaders and brotherly friends. Most significant was the following verses that keeps popping out in my face - car stickers, signs at shop, posters, calendars in places that I've been like God is trying to tell me something and for many times. Perhaps this might be of help 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverb 3:5-6 Also if you would go to Mark 11:23-25, I hope that will also answer you especially verse 25. 23"I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins." I would encourage you to meditate on the scripture and trully believe with your heart and not your carnal mind, you'll be surprised what your heart can do to your faith. God Bless |

49 | interaciall marriage | 2 Cor 6:14 | ngkh | 153508
Dear Terrib, What do you think about the following verses 1Cor7:12-14 12To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her. 13And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. 14For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy. I would have thought that marrying an unbeliever is ok. |

52 | Romans 3:10 | Rom 2:12 | ngkh | 145599
Romans 3:10 or Psalms 14:13 53:13; Eccles. 7:20 - What if someone asked that this quotation " None is righteous" was written by man (David?) and not God which means that if it was a man's judgement and not God's does it still hold water? Likewise for verse 23, what if someone argued that Paul is making the judgement since he is still a man although he may be an apostle contrary to Romans 1 |

56 | What is eternal power and divine nature | Rom 1:20 | ngkh | 145588
Romans 1:20 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. What did Paul meant when he said 1) His (God's) "eternal power" and "divine nature" that have clearly seen. Any examples of what was seen? Thank you. |

57 | Whats gonna happen in the 2nd coming | Bible general Archive 2 | ngkh | 145280
Thanks EdB. Then does it mean that we should look forward to His coming but before He comes, certain events must happen, right?. I was told that Isreal need to be restored to fulfill the prophesies but not sure if there are any other events besides what was stated in Revelations and 1 Thessolonians (Rapture).

60 | The work of God: hearing with faith? | Gal 3:5 | ngkh | 144609
Funny but I was once told that in each and everyone of us already reside a spirit and only when we hear the Gospel, the Holy Spirit will knock on our door, " Would you like me to come in?" Then it will be our choice. If we say no, the Holy Spirit will back off until we decide to say yes and the fellowship begins. Does this make sense? |
