41 | How do you know the unity of the spirit? | Gen 2:20 | dasev | 38466
dear hw, the "unity of the SPIRIT" i would submit, be known in the experience of marrieds and singles alike by having the mind of Christ. this is found several times in pauls letters, phillipians for one. it is i would submit particularly important for the husband to pursue the mind (the thougts, the reasonings) of the Lord); and for the wife to support her husband in this. perhaps the characteristic that will most clearly indicate success is humility. humility is the fertile ground for any Godly relationship; certainly of marriage. "wot say ye?" in Christ, dasev |

42 | How does a person submit to God? | Gen 2:20 | dasev | 38509
dear h.w., one possible meaning of the word "submit" is kiss. to kiss someone, i.e. God; one would have to be one intimate terms with Him. Get to know God through prayer, and through Scripture study. The more you know of God the more you can choose to obey His will. the more obedience the more intimacy. remember the Lord eventually called the disciples his friends, and that because he shared knowledge of his will with them. John 15:15 wot say ye? dasev
43 | God's commandment not to worship idols. | Deut 5:8 | dasev | 35558
A VERSE TO COSIDER IN THIS DISCUSSION IS COLLOSIANS 3:5,6,AND7. WHILE WE HAVE LIBERTY IN CHRIST WE MUST ALSO HAVE THE WISDOM TO FOLLOW THE TEACHING HE GIVES US. 1JOHN 2; 15,16 AND17; 1 JOHN 5:4; AND 5:21; ROMANS 14:23b, AND OTHER VERSES REQUIRE US TO CONSIDER THAT ALL THAT WE DO IN WORD AND DEED SHOULD BE TO THE GLORY OF GOD. YET EACH OF US IS BEFORE THE LORD AND WILL BE JUDGED BY HIM. SO WHILE WE SHOULD EACH BE CONVINCED IN OUR OWN BEING OF THE GOODNESS OF WHAT WE DO ,LET US NOT ALLOW IT TO BE EVIL SPOKEN OF BY FLAUNTING IT IN THE CHURCH OR ON THE STREET,NOR LET US SPEAK EVIL OF ANOTHERS USE OF THINGS. 1 COR 7: 29 TO 31. LET US INSTEAD PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER AND OURSELVES THAT OUR WISDOM WOULD BE MORE AND MORE PERFECT AND OUR WALK MORE HOLY AS THE DAY OF EACH OF OUR MEETING CHRIST GROWS CLOSER |

46 | How does what you say link into the Serm | Matthew | dasev | 38478
dear h2o, here is another view of the sermon otm. Jesus came to fulfill the law and the prophets. matt5:17,18 this first major speech of the new covenant can be seen as a primer of the Lord's mission in that time and of the believer's need of instruction. many times the Lord Jesus said "you have heard that it was said...". then He went on to quote the law and then to give the meaning the study of the law might give the thoughtful jew. the pharisees had missed the point of the law and made it a meaningless ritual. Jesus brings things into sharp focus to the inner man if we will to hear and learn. and if we will then we will be the salt of the earth and known to be a healthy necessary ingredient in the earth's "diet"; and we will seen to be the light of the world, exposing all things for what they are, see ephesians 5:8 to 14 the rewards, the blessings, and the character traits necessary to their attainment are found first in matt. ch. 5:1 to 16. this is how it seems to me....wot say ye? in Christ, dasev |

47 | How do we attain righteousness? | Matthew | dasev | 38488
dear dave r., our small but vital role is to obey God from the heart Rom. 6:17. Romans 6: 11 to 22 is an excellent text on this question. God in Christ has done the rest. we just walk in obedience to Him. |

48 | How do we attain righteousness? | Matthew | dasev | 38493
dear ones, it also occurs to me now that it is helpful even essential to hunger and thirst after righteousness for then the Lord says we will be filled. matthew 5:6 dasev |

49 | How do we attain righteousness? | Matthew | dasev | 38494
dear g.e.t., not sure of what you mean here. our own "righteousness", or filthy rags, will never save us, but Christ's righteousness that He has in Himself is essential to our salvation. we must be justified and have His righteousness imputed to us by Grace, and receiving these gifts by our faith in Him go on to have the fruits of righteousness: fruit unto holiness re: Romans 6:22. he that endures to the end shall be saved Matthew 10:22 wot say ye? dasev
50 | What is the context of the Sermon otm? | Matthew | dasev | 38539
dear h2o, as long as this is not for your doctoral thesis i'll try to get a "flow" goin' for ya. yes, certainly the kingdom or government of God and His righteousness are a if not the main theme of the sermon on the mount. in any kingdom one will find a king and his subjects. Jesus is King and we are His subjects. "Thou art Worthy o Lord for Thou hast created all things"- like us - "and for Thy pleasure they are created..." when we are found and saved by God and we begin to seek His Kingdom and Righteousness we can rightfully begin to participate in the earthly part of his Kingdom the Church. it is here we grow in grace as we repent and believe and die daily. the Bible is given to us the most precious earthly possession we can own. all other things that you or i need are added to us as we are faithful to the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1: 2 to 4 say as much or more, and verses 5 to 11 expand the theme wonderfully. the Sermon on the Mount ties together the Lord's fulfillment of the law, what it means to us in our inner man, how we should seek the reality of God's Kingdom on earth, and seek to behave as we are naked before His eyes. it also warns us that it is a straight entrance we must go through and a narrow road we must walk on which will lead us to life. we must dig DEEP and build on the Rock. |

dear dave r., love one another. as a single man i seek to be a friend to the body of whom i am a member. iseek to be cheerful in the faith to the people i meet daily. help women cross the street. in baltimore even women in their 20's are grateful for this. tie the shoe of a toddler. pet a cat if it lets you. defend the faith if you must. share the Gospel, preach the Gospel, and use words if you have too. BE UNASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL, AND UNASHAMED OF THE MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS THE MESSIAH. do not practise bigotry, avoid prejudgements and presumptions like the plague. so things you discern you must keep to your self, others must be spoken. BE SLOW TO SPEAK SLOW TO ANGER (and sin not) AND QUICK TO LISTEN. AND A HUNDRED HUNDRED OTHER THINGS in general and specific. STUDY THE BIBLE let God by His spirit pour His living Word into your dusty heart. live in His presence , trust that the words of his chosen authors are true True, TRUE! avoid meaningless talk, gossip shun, don't strain at gnats, especially as there are so many camels that the devil dresses up like sirloin. BLESS GOD, don't curse Him. when in doubt don't do it. need more? |

DEAR DAVE R., dasev here the thrust of the ser o t mt : one: here are the sort of people Jesus blesses and what happens to them. two: here is the reality of sin, it is found in the inner man, not just in the deeds he does, the roots of sin are in the heart three: these are the consequenses of sin, and of the misapplication of the law four: here is the character of My Father: good, just, loving, a provider. five: entrance into My kingdom is not easy to those who seek ease, one must give effort and DIG DEEP. AND MORE..... THE MAIN THRUST IS PERHAPS: Hi, my name is Jesus. I'm God your Father's Son. you dont know me very well, you have been misled by many who say they know my Fathers law. they don't. I do. listen to me and i will show you all you need to know. it's sort of The Gospel for Dummies as the jews of that day had with some exceptions been led astray by false or unfaithfull shepherds. |

59 | Is there nothing we can do? | Matthew | dasev | 38707
dear one, God is soveriegn, self-existing, and there are only a few things He can not do. they are 1. lie 2. deny Himself . we may not understand Him much why He acts as He does, but he is the creator and owner of everything. what i own i do with as i please, and God owns me. God loves us all, i think, but He is able to hate what we do and what we have become in our disobedience. are you born again? if so trust Him to show you more than i can. if you are not what if any other things do you find difficult? dasev
