43 | Church is kidnapped to Sodom! | James 2:8 | beensetfree | 58489
JesusFreak508: Noted in your text is a statement, "Our job isn't to judge him." Please see 1 Cor. 5:10-13. The Body of Believers are to hold one another accountable for our sinful actions and we are to judge one another, rebuke when necessary, and when repentance occurs restore the offender to fellowship in the Body of Christ. Also noted in your text you mention the "offense created in you." We must get the focus off of how we are offended! The focus and bigger picture is the offense to Christ and His Church. Thus the need for Ivory313 to speak to the sinning professor and for the professor to step down. Not because the prof. has offended Ivory313, but because of the offense to God! And you are right on when you say, "pray for him." Pray God is merciful and doesn't strike him where he stands for his sin and for continuing to teach theology to future pastors.
44 | Church is kidnapped to Sodom! | James 2:8 | beensetfree | 58302
Dear Ivory313: Am greatly distressed by this sad news shared. Will be praying for you in this time of turmoil. Totally am in agreement with Pastor Paul's advice, but agree that you not go alone first time out. This "professor" teaching theology in a seminary MUST be confronted, lovingly but firmly. He is teaching by words and deeds, future pastors/leaders of Christ's Church. He must be corrected for many reasons, but primarily due to the high standard by which he is held due to being a teacher of God's Word and by which he will be judged. There is much at stake! Be strong and courageous in the faith He has given you. God's Word is truly the sword of truth. I also think you have an obligation to go to the Dean of Academics of the seminary while also speaking to the "prof." God bless.
45 | Is the Law abolished or not? | Eph 2:15 | beensetfree | 57863
Matt 5:17 and Eph 2:15 work in concert with one another. Jesus came to fulfill the law. If we are under Christ's headship, we still have an obligation through service to obey the law. The "enmity" Paul speaks of is "sin" which has been abolished by Christ's fulfillment of the law...being the utlimate guilt sacrifice. Scripture always verifies scripture.
