41 | Explantation of Gen. 6:1-6 | Gen 6:2 | Tim3:16 | 128007
Hello again, tgc; Sorry it took some time to get back, but this is what I have found after reading your submission to the note board. "Sons of God" is not an exclusive term, and can possibly refer to angels as it seems to here in Job 38:6-7, "Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?" or, also used of men, as in the following verses: Deut. 14:1, Hosea 1:10; Luke 3:38; John 1:12; 1 John 3:1 In Genesis 6:2 I submit to you, that the "sons of God" were the righteous line of Seth (Genesis 4:26) that had been intermarrying with evil Cain-anites. It has been argued that only angel-human co-mingling could produce the "nephilim" spoken of in Gen. 6:4. But the sons of Anak spoken of in Num. 13:33 were also giants, and these obviously were not angel-human offspring, simply because they existed long after the flood. Luke 20:35, seems to sum up the fact that angels do not marry, "But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:" Also, another interesting subject of study is finding out why Jesus often referred to Himself as "the Son of Man" Also, I will be happy to research this further, you need only to ask. Blessings, tim PS, do you have any idea as to why this thread has been restricted? |

42 | who was naborth in th bible | Gen 11:25 | Tim3:16 | 169347
Sorry, sheryl4christ ! The word naborth doesn't occur in the KJV. The closest I could find, is Nahor. Gen 11 starts out the account of Nahor, which means "snorting" in Hebrew. Nahor was the name of both the grandfather and a brother of Abraham in the Old Testament. Gen 11:22 Serug lived thirty years, and begot Nahor. 23 After he begot Nahor, Serug lived two hundred years, and begot sons and daughters. 24 Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and begot Terah. 25 After he begot Terah, Nahor lived one hundred and nineteen years, and begot sons and daughters. Hope this helps, God Bless your search. Tim |

43 | genesis 34:1-12 | Gen 12:13 | Tim3:16 | 170067
According to Judaism 101 , which is an online encyclopedia of Judaism, Women have held positions of respect in Judaism since biblical times. Miriam is considered one of the liberators of the Children of Israel, along with her brothers Moses and Aaron. One of the Judges (Deborah) was a woman. Seven of the 55 prophets of the Bible were women According to traditional Judaism, women are endowed with a greater degree of "binah" (intuition, understanding, intelligence) than men. The rabbis inferred this from the fact that woman was "built" (Gen. 2:22) rather than "formed" (Gen. 2:7), and the Hebrew root of "build" has the same consonants as the word "binah." It is my belief that men and women made the same mistakes in the OT that they do in the NT, proving that the players only change, -the game remains the same. Respectfully yours, Tim |

46 | what are all the names God is called? | Ex 3:13 | Tim3:16 | 208632
barbarabradbury, The Name of God, or Holy Name is the name in Eastern or Western spiritual traditions or religions that is used in practice or prayer. However, conceptions of God can vary widely, but the word God in English is normally used for all or many of them. Other languages have generic names and the word for "God" in one language can be understood by speakers of foreign languages as the name of a specific deity worshipped by speakers of that particular language. There are at least 100 names used for God in english, the Jewish people dare not speak -or write His name, out of reverence, But as the Bible teaches, Jesus is actually our brother, I prefer Father -as in spiritual father. More to follow..... Tim |

48 | what verses refer to student study respo | Deut 6:7 | Tim3:16 | 208686
Hi CGomes, Please forgive me if I jumped to a conclusion here, but when you say study, I am presuming you mean scriptural studies?? The context that I would like to lead you to is preceded by this well known verse: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. (Deu 6:5) The verse above should be memorized by a diligent student, through to verse 9. What this means is we are commanded by these verses to make God's Word saturate our environment. This shows where we place the priorities in our lives through our daily choices. The study of Scripture, therefore is the responsibility of every believer, It is the capability of every believer, and it is the Privelege of every believer. I say believer, because the meanings of Jesus' parables were obscured to the casual listener. Therefore we are granted certain requirements for learning, that the world does not necessarily possess, so I consider them as "gifts." The first requirement of learning is a New Heart, which gives us the capacity to learn. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing. Secondly we must have a Hungry Heart, by which we gain the motivation to learn. Third is a Teachable Heart which is simply the openness to learn, as in "Do not harden your heart" Fourth is a Disciplined Heart which brings to us our commitment to learn, and comes from the word, 'disciple' Lastly, we will need an Obedient Heart which is excercised in the commitment to walk out what you have learned, by not being hearers only, but doers of the Word. Now is the prime question: Why would we want to study Scripture? There is of course much work involved, as in anything worthwhile, it is worth working for. Bible Knowledge is like precious ore in a mine -you find it when you are determined enough to get it. We are motivated to learn when we perceive that it is something that will benefit us. And remeber, the enemy of our souls has a vested interest in distancing us from God's Word. After all that, I will take you to the obvious verse, one that should not be overlooked, and that is 2Tim 3:16-17: 2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 2Ti 3:17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. God's Love to you and yours, Tim |

Hi compasskid1 Here is the Scripture passage from 2 Kings 10:1-2 Now Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote and sent letters to Samaria, to the rulers of *Jezreel, to the elders, and to those who reared Ahab's sons, saying: 2 Now as soon as this letter comes to you, since your master's sons are with you, and you have chariots and horses, a fortified city also, and weapons, 3 choose the best qualified of your master's sons, set him on his father's throne, and fight for your master's house. |

51 | what is the Foundation Gate's significan | 2 Chr 23:5 | Tim3:16 | 208689
smalltinygirl, That was an excellent question and it had me looking around a lot for some possible answer. It really was a big question for such a smalltinygirl! First, we must remember what we are reading is an translation of the original Scriptures, and we are therefore at the mercy of the interpretor. About half of the translations I read had the word capitalized, for what reason I haven't a clue. Just remember, the original writings did not capitalize those words. Blessings to you as you study His Word, Tim |

52 | could foundation be a type of NT doctrin | 2 Chr 23:5 | Tim3:16 | 208703
Greetings again, sister, You may be correct, on capitalization out of respect for the holy place. I myself tend to over-capitalize some words in the middle of a sentence to give them special attention. True, there are many metaphores and similies that point forward to the coming Messiah, Jesus. He said He was the stone that the builders rejected in Matt 21:42, as He was referring to the OT in Psa 118:22 ('Stone' may as well be capitalized) "The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief corner stone." So, you could well be headed down a familiar path, looking to find doctrine within the passage in question. Now, let's look at the word 'foundation' in particular to see if that is what was meant by the original author. Strong's number 03247 is used for foundation in 2 Chr 23:5 The Hebrew word is yes-ode' and means, foundation, base, or bottom. It is first used in the OT as 'base' in the NASB, in Exod 29:12,"You shall take some of the blood of the bull and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger; and you shall pour out all the blood at the base of the altar. Leviticus 4:7, 4:18, 4:25, 4:30, 4:34, all refer to the priest applying blood to the base of the altar. The Nasb also translates the word as 'foundation' in Pro 10:25: "When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation." There are some definite parallels there, blood, stone, and righteousness, so, I can see where this word can also be used as a metaphor for the Messiah. However, in my own line of thinking, to see the christology of Jesus Christ (only) as a 'foundation' is sort of like watching a parade through a knothole in a wooden fence. If we were to climb up, and peer over the fence, we would see the entire parade. And then we are able to see Jesus as our All in All. May God Bless you as you study His Word, Tim |

53 | should we confess our sins in church | Neh 1:6 | Tim3:16 | 182259
Hi Destiny22, I see that we are instructed to confess our sins, but since God is omnipresent, there is not mentioned any basis for the location. see 1John chapter 1 "8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. There is one man to confess sin to that is biblically accurate: 1Tim 2: 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, We must be cautious when we decide to confess sins to one another, this opens up the other party to the temptation of being judgemental. In Him, Tim |

54 | Mordechai - Esther's Uncle or Cousin? | Esth 2:15 | Tim3:16 | 170522
Susan66, This just goes to show that you cannot trust what you find on the internet, and you can find nearly anything. Whenever in doubt, simply see what God's word has to say. As you can see here, The King James Version says the same thing as the NASB or the Amplified. Here is the KJV as well. Tim Est 2:15 Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king's chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her. |

Thank You Doc. I have been studying Job in some depth lately, and am signed up for an adult Bible class on Job at my church. I was hoping someone would have some outside info, which you generously provided, and is gratefully appreciated! If it is true that Job married Jacob's daughter, that would give us some more insight concerning the date of the book's writing. By the way, what is your source? In Christ, Tim |

57 | What is the name of Job's wife? | Job | Tim3:16 | 131365
Thanks again Doc! We are blessed in our church by the presence of a wonderful teacher who used to have a strong Jewish background, -Well, actually he still does (o; -I will call him Al. Then Al met someone from our church through Jews for Jesus and was baptised in a nearby lake by the pastor of our Non-denom, Christ-based, Bible-teaching church. Today Al is an untiring evangelist, Blessed be the name of the LORD.... (Psa 113:2) Doc, you have piqued my curiosity once again, could you please tell me what is sad about when 'they' (I assume these are members of the synagogue) say, "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord." ? In return, I will look into the 'my profile' issue. Your eternal brother, Tim |
