41 | Pray with Eyes Closed? | John 11:41 | Rom831 | 29528
Its a custom that has very little to do with God and a lot to do with Human nature, namely, distractions. Close your eyes so you aren't distracted and looking around and fold your hands so you are not figeting or doing anything to distract you. Being a parent, I am SURE this had to be dreampt up by a parent at some point! lol Bless...ArtS |

42 | Please explain the Trinity. | John 1:1 | Rom831 | 29525
This is a TOUGH subject. The Bible never uses the word and only speaks indirectly towards it. Churches have debated this for ages. My wife and I don't even agree on it. But here is the best explanation I have come up with on my belief. Think of God the father, Son and Holy Spirit as three 7s: 7 7 7 Each of these 7s are identical, you cannot tell them apart. They have the same characteristics - they are all 7s. But you can tell by looking at them, that they are indeed three separate 7s. They are indeed the same, yet they are each distinct. So are the Father, Son and Holy spirit. They are all God, yet they are separate. Again, this is my view. My wife and my church believe differently (They'd say there was only one "7" and it just appeared in different forms) but this is WAY confusing to me and ends up portraying a schitzo Jesus. But that is MY opinion. Why is it so important? To me, it really isn't except that you believe Jesus is God and not just a man, or even a perfect man. Either view of the trinity I listed still believes that they are all God. Yeah, that's as clear as mud... |

43 | Bib Ref on weapons of war today being OK | Bible general Archive 1 | Rom831 | 29377
Also, when the soldiers come for Jesus, Peter uses his sword and cuts off one of the soldier's ears. Jesus does not rebuke him for having or using the sword, only for thinking that Jesus could not stop this if it wasn't meant to be. If weapons were wrong, Jesus would have told Peter so. 44 | How important is your Church? | Bible general Archive 1 | Rom831 | 29359
Me individually. My dad didn't have anything to do with church and my mom's idea of church was telling me I was going wether I liked it or not. We never spoke about God or church as a family. That is until my dad died and I have no idea if he was saved or not. Then I started talking about it with my mom. I didnt want her to die without me believing I would see her again. Bless...ArtS |

45 | How important is your Church? | Bible general Archive 1 | Rom831 | 29344
10 years? Only two. But before that, I jumperd around a lot. I started out in one where they taught "this is the way it is and if you don't believe it you're going to hell." That pastor would leave and we'd get a new intern pastor who said "this is the way it is and if you don't believe it you're going to hell." But it was different than what the last guy said. Then another intern and the same scenario. Most of the ones I attended after that I simply didn't agree with their doctrine. I couldn't find it supported in the Bible and moved on (this was Jr. High/Sr. High time). I finally found one that I didn't disagree with anything they preached. I stayed there for a number of years (until a new pastor came and started doing all kinds of things I didn't like). Then, looking back, I realized that the reason I had stayed is because they didn't teach anything I disagreed with. But that was because they didn't really teach anything. Sermons were about smoking, drinking, being mean or rude, etc. No Jesus anywhere. Now I have found one that pretty much sticks with the Bible. There are a few places doctrines come in, but for the most part, I simply just disagree (most of them are small). There you go! Bless...ArtS |

46 | matthew 12-43 | Matthew | Rom831 | 29341
It is talking about when a demon is driven out, that it will try to reenter the host. In fact, it will go out and gather other spirits to try to possess the person as well. When these spirits return, if they find the "house", which is the person, "swept out and tidy", these spirits will again, "move in." But if they return, and the person is instead filled with the Holy Spirit, they won't be able "to move in." Bless...ArtS |

47 | God's anger at Babel tower, why? | Genesis | Rom831 | 29337
I'd agree. God instructs them to go forth and multiply (Gen 9:1). But instead, they decided to build a city instead so they would not be "scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth." (Gen 12:4) Bless...ArtS |

48 | Leviticus 19 talks about not marking you | Bible general Archive 1 | Rom831 | 29334
Leviticus 19:28 29 "You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the LORD. I believe this to be still talking about for the dead. it is not seperated by any punctuation indicating a seperate thought. At least I hope so! I have three. Two of which are "religous". One on my wrist has been a source of great help to me. I suffer from chronic depression. When I get real down, I can't help but occasionally glance at it. It is a simple "Christian fish" with ROM8:31 in it. When hard times come up, I might simply feel sorry for myself. But just a casual glance reminds me "If God is for us, who can be against us?" Yes we do. It means a ton. It is a gift Jesus gave us to remember Him by and to share in Him by. It is a tangable reminder that He lived and of the flesh and blood He gave to repay a debt I could never overcome. Bless...ArtS |

51 | What does predestinated means | Ephesians | Rom831 | 29324
Sure we can. We cannot fully understand Him or His ways, but we can surely see that they are not ours. And we can see that He is not bound by the things He has created, such as OUR view of linear time. Then we can look at how things would be without the constraints of such hindering things. Bless...ArtS |

2 - I love my church. The people are open, loving and friendly. The pastors preach from God's word and with a passion for Jesus. The music and atmosphere are wonderful. But ther ARE other such places. God would lead me where I need to be. Bless...ArtS |

55 | What does predestinated means | Ephesians | Rom831 | 29004
You're looking at this from our point of view in linear time, not from God's point of view from eternity. It does not say that God chose the elect by name to be saved. It says those who are with Him are the chosen. Yes, our names are written there, because we believe, not out of a cosmic lottery. Mark 16:16 "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved" Notice, "saved" comes after "believed". If we had to be chosen first, we'd be chosen to be saved, so we believed. I'm sorry. Feel free to disagree. But the only way to reconcile all of scripture, is for us to have the choice. Otherwise spreading the gospel as Jesus commands is pointless, belife is irrellevant, Jesus' whole ministery of belife is wasted air, Jesus died for nothing, and God does NOT desire that none shall be lost but instead is an evil being who has condemned the majority of people to an eternity of suffering in a lake of fire by HIS will alone. Not to mention, if God chose me specifically for heaven and specifically chose someone else for hell, MAN what a boasting right!! "He chose me and not you and there's nothing you can do about it!! " It just doesn't work. As for your other post on foreknowledge, again I'm sorry, but instead of twisting His words, lets believe what He says. John 6:64 "But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe. There, the word "fore knowledge" isn't used so you can't twist it. It says that Jesus knew who would not believe. Not who were not allowed to believe or not chosen so they couldn't believe. Bless...ArtS |

56 | Questions about blessing others - take 2 | Matt 10:13 | Rom831 | 28968
Eh, he's just clakning his gong. In the end, that's all evil can do. Besides, he is friends with another poster there and I know that guy is from Amsterdam. So I'm not sure this one is even in the US. As far as the verses, I'm still not sure. Its going to take more praying on I guess. Yes, Jesus was speaking to the disciples, but so was He many times and His truth is still, and always will be true. And anyone who spreads His word, is also His disciple. So He is speaking to us too. Much to contimplate... Bless...ArtS |

57 | Questions about blessing others - take 2 | Matt 10:13 | Rom831 | 28966
Thanks for the reply. Maybe I should have clarified a little better. Nothing has happened to my daughter. He just thinks its funny to talk about it happening. Trying to get me to lash out. Anyway... I understand what you are saying, but what then is menat buy the Mat 10:13 verse that if they are unworthy, to take back your blessing and brush their dust off your sandals? That's from Jesus Himself... Bless...ArtS |

58 | Questions about blessing others - take 2 | Matt 10:13 | Rom831 | 28963
When do you bless and when is it time to remove your blessing? I am new here and trying this a 2nd time. I usually post on another board that has really been over run. One individule in particular, I feel, is either evil or has an evil spirit. As he constantly mocks for the rape and murder of my daughter (yes I know its just to get to me, bu evil that comes out the mouth comes from the heart). The reason this is my 2nd attempt is he followed me here and flooded my 1st attempt to get it disabled... As you can see below, I always sign my posts with a quick "bless". My question is based on these two passages: Luke 6:28 "bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you." Matthew 10: 13 "If the house is worthy, give it your blessing of peace. But if it is not worthy, take back your blessing of peace. 14 "Whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you go out of that house or that city, shake the dust off your feet." So, WWJD??? Continue to offer prayers and blessings for him, or remove the blessing and dust my feet? Bless...ArtS P.S. Usually my only reply to him is a cut and paste as to his heart and why I won't converse with him. But even with the cut and paste, my question still remains... |

59 | A vision of Love | Eph 5:2 | Rom831 | 28958
One thing I really liked with the 1 Cor verses is to remember that "God is love". So for each of those verses that say what love is, God is as well. Other good verses are John 15:12, Rom 12:9-10, Rom 13:8-10 and Eph 5:2. Bless...ArtS |

60 | John 3:16.. whoever believes not perish? | Rev 13:8 | Rom831 | 28956
Not at all! WE make the choice to believe or not believe. Believing in no way makes us deserve to go to Heaven. We are still as much sinners as those who do not believe. There is nothing we can do, or have done to deserve to go to Heaven. What god did was to, in advance say, "OK, I have two groups of people: those who'll believe in My Son and those who won't. So what I'm going to do, is that for all of those who choose to accept My Son, their sins will be paid for by My son's death and they will be with Me." And through Jesus, He gives US the choice which group to join; those who He has allowed to be covered by the blood of Jesus, or those who willfully reject it and are condemned. He predestined the group, not the individule. He has then said to us, "Now its up to you. Believe and be saved, do not believe and be condemned." He puts no one there, we do that ourselves.
