41 | did jesus have brothers and sisters? | Mark 6:1 | Jesusman | 195374
Yes, he did. In one place, Mary and Jesus's brothers and sisters come to visit him, and another time, Jesus's brothers reject his teachings. So .. yes, Jesus had siblings. Jesusman |

42 | during the 3 days? | Matthew | Jesusman | 195366
Scofield more so than Ryrie, but Ryrie was dispensational. As for the different opinions, if you look at them closely, many of them are arguing the same point, just from different perspectives. Jesusman |

43 | during the 3 days? | Matthew | Jesusman | 195361
This teaching is also prevalent among dispensationalists as well. Scofield and Ryrie both spread the idea that Jesus went to hell and fought Satan over these keys. A Closer look at the verses you sited reveals that Paul is talking about the power of Jesus's crucifixion, and the authority in Christ. On a side note, people like Copeland, Hagin, and Hinn have about as much biblical truth in their teachings as the Sunday Morning newspaper. Their butchering of the scriptural context is horrible. 44 | during the 3 days? | Matthew | Jesusman | 195359
What Jesus told Mary still doesn't imply that Jesus went to hell to fight Satan over a set of house keys. Jesus is implying that what time he has left here will be short. He's trying to get Mary to stop clinging to him and gather his followers and friends together. Remember, Jesus promised to send someone to be their comforter. It wouldn't be him, but the Holy Spirit. Jesus had a few final lessons and commands to issue in order to prepare the flegling church for the arrival of the Holy Spirit. Jesusman |

45 | during the 3 days? | Matthew | Jesusman | 195348
Sorry, I'll have to disagree here. Jesus tells us very clearly where he will be during the period between his death and resurrection. Luke 23:43 And he said to him (the criminal with him), "Truly I say to you, Today you shall be with Me in Paradise." Jesus tells the thief on the cross that both he and Jesus will be in paradise. Why would he lie and go to hell instead? The verses stated above by the previous contributor no more supports the idea of Jesus going to hell and facing off against Satan for the keys of hell, than it supports Bush for president. The idea that Jesus went to hell and faught satan for the keys during the three days before the resurrection can't be fully supported by Scripture. The resurrection of Jesus solidifed his power over death and life both. Matthew 12:40, specifically 12:38-45, is a passage about Jesus foretelling his death. However, he says nothing or eludes to nothing to indicate that he will head to hell and face off against Satan for a set of keys. In fact, the first honest mention about any keys over hell is in Revelation 1:18. There is nothing mentioned in scripture to indicate that anyone except God ever had possession of them. From the time Jesus died and was buried until the time he rose from the grave, his body was in the tomb and his spirit was in Paradise. There is nothing mentioned to state otherwise. Jesusman |

Greetings, For a long time, I was much the same way. I refused to participate with Holloween with the belief that evil was being promoted and celebrated. In many ways, I still believe that. However, what changed my view was a church I once belonged to that had a fair on Holloween for the children, but also a church wide celebration the next night, on November 1st. It was then that the history behind Holloween was presented to me. Holloween, or all hollows eve, was a night to ward off evil spirits in preparation of All Saints Day, a day to celebrate the lives and sacrifices of the Saints. The pastor began by dressing up as a christian saint he admired, and told of the saint's life, then other teachers and deacons would do something similar. I learned more about the christian saints that day than I ever did any other time. The children had a fun time also with various games and such based around period games. Although something was done on Holloween, it was the next day where the real celebration took place. Jesusman |

47 | 1 cor 12:23. what does it mean to a teen | 1 Cor 12:23 | Jesusman | 195209
Greetings, This is Paul's discussion of the Body. He's using the analogy of the human body to explain the church, and the roles each christian plays within the church. He just finished explaining how the body needs different parts in order to function as a whole. A body that has all eyes, won't be able to hear, smell, touch, or even speak. Each part of the body is dependant upon the other parts of the body. Now, beginning in verse 22, Paul switches gears slightly. Now, he's focusing on the individual purposes of the parts of the body rather than the dependancy. There are certain roles with in the church that seem the more desirable and honorable. On the contrary, there are some that are not so glammorous. Being the pastor of a church seems like a very nice and prestigeous role to play. However, being the Church's janitor is not as desirable, yet it needs to be done. What Paul is saying here, is that the percieved "less honorable" roles within the church should be just as honored and respected as the most prestigeous role within the church. Paul is making a solid argument that there should be no jealousy or division within the church. You shouldn't be wanting to be in another position of the church, but rather performing the role christ placed you in. Jesusman |

48 | Theology of Glory versus the Cross | 2 Tim 3:13 | Jesusman | 195162
There's nothing wrong with trying to motivate others to do better. Paul even tried to motivate others to do better in service to Christ. By what is presented here, I see nothing wrong with what is stated. What is the context of the excerpt from Osteen? Did he site any passages from scripture? Context applies to more than just scripture, but to all things we experience. There's not enough given here to dictate one way or another. Jesusman |

49 | What is truth? | John 18:38 | Jesusman | 195121
All I have to say is that if we create our own reality, then can I trade mine in for something different? On top of that, If we reject logic as being merely an illusion, then what's left? Basically, he's reducing life to a tom and jerry cartoon. Everything in existance today revolves around Logic on some level. Jesusman |

50 | What is truth? | John 18:38 | Jesusman | 195116
It's funny when you speak to someone about the absolute nature of truth and they respond with their relativism philosophy. What they fail to realize is in order to be true to their philosophy, and for others to hold to the same philosophy, that the philosophy of Relativism becomes an Absolute Truth in and of itself. Thus defeating it's own premise. It also opens up the door to the argument that if one absolute truth exists, aka Relativism, then there is the likelihood of other absolute truths existing, aka God. On the other hand, if Relativism isn't absolute, then it shoots down it's own credibility. Relativism can only be true for one person and one person only. It holds no power or authority to another person. If I say something is true because it's true for me, and there are no Absolute truths, then what authority do I have to say that what I say is true should also be true for you. This can lead to anarchy. How can we hold criminals responsible for their crimes against the laws of the land with this being the prominant philosophy? You can't. Even with a majority saying the same relative truth, it only takes one to say that it isn't true for them to begin unravelling authority and credibility. Some of the more zealous supporters of relative truth might disagree here, but the fact is that something needs to be held as an Absolute Truth. There is no way around it. The originator of Absolute Truth is God. Jesusman |

51 | Mary at Jesus's feet, what did this mean | Luke 10:38 | Jesusman | 194921
Prolly that she sat down on the floor in front of Jesus. Sometimes in the Bible, a horse is just a horse. Not everything has a double or a hidden or an implied meaning. However, It does prove that Jesus welcomed people of all types to come and listen to his teachings. Women were one stage above slave in that society. They had no power or authority in public. Couldn't even stand trial as witnesses. By welcoming Mary close to listen to his teachings, Jesus is implying that everyone is welcome to hear them. Jesusman |

52 | Why is wisdom referred to as HER? | Bible general Archive 4 | Jesusman | 194919
Usually it has to do with the language. Both Hebrew and Greek, as with many languages, have gender. Hebrew has masculine and feminine gender, and greek has masculine, feminine and neutral gender. Although, I don't have my reference books at hand at the moment, I'm nearly certain that the word translated as "wisdom" has a feminine gender, which is why its called "her". Another word like this would be the word translated as "Church" in the New Testament. Its also feminine in the Greek, and described as a woman in the texts. Jesusman |

54 | "whoever" . Who are these other people?? | Gen 4:14 | Jesusman | 194819
You seriously don't believe Eve was the only woman in existance until Noah's wife right? Adam and Eve had other children beside Seth, Cain, and Abel. There had to at least have been 2 daughters .. one for Cain and one for Seth. Also given how long lives were at that point, its not a huge leap of logic to assume that Cain is referring to his kindred that might find him. Jesusman. |

55 | Why do people say this when in all actua | Isaiah | Jesusman | 194817

56 | difference in Lord and LORD | Bible general Archive 4 | Jesusman | 194753
Most of them will tell you in the front, but one version is the use of YHVH, the Holy Name of God, and the other is using other terms for God. I think LORD is the use of YHVH. Jesusman |

57 | what is the book of the covenant | Bible general Archive 4 | Jesusman | 194751
Depends on which covenant you are talking about. The Edenic, Adamic, and Abrahamic Covenants are in Genesis. The Mosaic Covenant is in Exodus. Palestinian Covenant is in 2 samuel, I think. The Messianic is in Isaiah, and the New Covenant is the New Testimant. Jesusman |

58 | sin | Bible general Archive 4 | Jesusman | 194343
It's influenced by the modern philosophy of today's society. In today's society, there is no such thing as absolutes. There is the majority, and there is relativism. Basically, it's not what's wrong decreed by God, but what is wrong by what the majority of society says. An example of this is Spanking. 30 years ago, spanking was a legitimate form of punishing your child. Even the Bible, in proverbs, speaks about spanking a child and even encourages it. However, If you spank a child now, you are brought up on charges of child abuse and sentanced by law. The majority of society felt it to be wrong. Another example is Homosexuality. Leviticus and Romans both describe the act of homosexuality and declares it to be wrong. Yet, in today's society, the Majority of society has said that it is not wrong. By talking about the reality and consequences of sin, you are talking about the absolute truth about what is wrong and what is not according to the standard set by God. It takes the power of deciding right and wrong out of the hands of Society and places it back into the hands of God where it belongs. It basically reminds people that the power they have is only imaginary. It is one thing to be innocent in the eyes of the laws of society. It is something entirely different to be innocent in the eyes of God. The thought of being innocent in the eyes of society, yet guilty in the eyes of God scares people ... alot. 59 | Romans 1:18 taking sin seriously | Rom 1:18 | Jesusman | 194341
The importance of taking Sin seriously is evident in nearly every verse you have asked about. Romans chapter 1 is one of personal interest to me. If you read from verse 18 on to the end of the chapter, Paul makes it crystal clear about the consequences of sin. Sin is more than simple disobedience or the small white lie. It has stages. Each stage building on the one prior. As Paul describes here, it begins with burying the truth revealed about God in unrighteousnes. It escellates to idolotry. Then to sexual immorality and homosexuality. It escellates further to depravity, and hatred of anything Godly. The final solution, without Christ's involvement, is death. It all begins here in verse 18 with God revealing his nature and feelings about sin. Jesus Loves you, Jesusman |

60 | Romans 5:6-8 how it shows Gods love | Rom 5:6 | Jesusman | 194227
Greetings Anne, I've been reading your responses and questions. I have many questions of my own to ask, but to do so will take more time and effort than I have at the moment. However, your last line the previous note intrigues me. "PS, There is a lie in Ro 1 and 2Th 2 and you all believe in it as you will find out on Judgment Day." Please tell us what you believe these lies to be, and why you believe them to be lies. You have repeatedly thrown the phrase "False Christians" about liberally, and even made several severe accusations against many of the contributors of this forum. I wish to know by what authority and foundation do you claim in order to make such accusations. I feel compelled to remind you of the starting portion of John chapter 8. You have used John chapter 8 in many of your notes. I wish to know if you have read the first portion of it, specifically John 8:1-11. Jesus has returned to the Temple and begins to teach. He is approached by the Scribes and Pharisees, who have a woman caught in the act of adultery. The begin to test Jesus, quoting Scripture, and casting judgement upon the woman. Jesus simply kneels down and begins to write in the dirt. What he writes, we don't know, but shortly after he responds with his answer to their test. John 8:7 "He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." Jesus kneels back down and writes more in the dirt. When he stands, the Scribes and Pharisees are gone. He asks the woman if any condemn her and she replies that they didn't. He then responds that he won't either. With this passage in mind, I ask again for you to provide proof of your authority to throw accusations to people being "False Christians". Only by looking into their heart of hearts can one truly and genuinely know if a person is saved or not, and the only person I know wish such capability is God himself. Also include proof of your authority to declare portions of God's word to be falsehoods. I await your reply. Jesus loves you. Jesusman |
