Doc, I give wide birth for individual knowledge of the Bible before citations. Most here have read the Bible and can relate...some cannot and I am always ready to assist those when properly requested. I am still waiting on Bible references from the poster who questions the need for baptism under G-d'S word. |

What Bible version are you quoting?

Doc, Your inference that I use intel other than G-d's word is troubling, to say the least. Consenus as to methodology is usually a challenge. I use the Bible to garner understanding. Secondary/residual writings rarely get my attention. We must remember G-d charges each of us to reach our own conclusions from His word ...which includes intent by use of common sense. |

44 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233115
Azure, Scriptual support is contained in the Bible which clearly delineates...."G-d as Creator of all". That is basic to belief in G-d. I don't believe in responding to everyone as if they know nothing of the Bible...it is often received as.... demeaning. |

Doc, This is very basic...am I to understand that you disagree with the conclusion? If so why? |

46 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233112
Doc, I suggest when incomplete quotes are used it is out of context and can be misleading. In context the quote would be; "If you wish to reject that assertion...please give me your opinion of why G-d created satan?" Am I to conclude that you reject the assertion? I can address your additional commentary later. |

Upon birth a name is entered into the book of life. When one reaches the age of accountability the name is blotted from the book of life. Later when that person accepts Christ...thru repentance and baptism...the name is then entered into the ...Lambs book of life. Thus the reason for the two books. |

Searcher, LOL... study of all history tells me that scholars and sect leaders are not always correct and their positions must be considered in view of their motovation and objectives. Where Bible doctrine is absent from understanding....how does one reach a conclusion? I don't share your thought that common sense is "dangerous and foolishness" ..even when it comes to Bible study. Example, many believe the 2nd advent of Christ is when the rapture occurs. They opine the Bible is not totally clear. However, common sense tells me that the 2nd advent of Christ will not be for a split second, a blink of the eye ...if you will..and then His presence on earth ends. That does not pass the application test of common sense for purpose. |

49 | Why does God respect Satan's opinion | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233106
Tim, Point well emphasized. No one should try. I am convinced G-d had the Bible written the way it is to foster study, debate, discussion, etc. But, one thing is crystal clear....how we are to prepare ourselves and live in order to receive eternal salvation. It is not ours to explain G-ds' actions. |

50 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233104
Doc, Apology not necessary. I give no equal respect (there is no basis under which I would do such) when referencing G-d. G-d stands alone in my reverence. |

51 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233103
Doc, I know of no scripture per se. There are many/many general references to G-d's creations. It is not a sweeping doctrine. Such would be used to address a response where such a position replaces long held scholarly interpretation. I know of no such interpretation/position...do you? G-d hardly needs to explain His actions to us. Thus, one of the reasons for..."Faith"! |

53 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233100
Doc, Can't give you a Biblical reference. It comes from what I refer to as.... general common sense. If you wish to reject that assertion...please give me your opinion of why G-d created satan? |

54 | 1. Is God sovereign? 2.) Free Will? | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233099
I don't believe I ask that question in your cvontext..."who pre-determined our spiritual destiny"...? If so, please point it out to me.

Important point...well done.
56 | No word like juice at Jesus time? | 1 Cor 11:25 | G. Preston | 233097
New wine could reflect drink with low alcohol. That correlates with..."no drunkedness"..."hard drink"...which is forbidden. New wine vs old wine is referred to several times in a seemingly guidance manner in the NT. Hebrew I don't recall...but, Greek is... oinos...for wine. |

57 | Is there a bible verse that means this? | Rom 8:28 | G. Preston | 233096
Not aware of such Bible verse. G-d does have a plan for us...it is called....eternal salvation. Nothing just happens. G-d is in charge of all.... and at all times. |
||||||
58 | Why does God respect Satan's opinion | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233095
Tim Moran, I believe you are correct. I am not sure you or I have the ability nor should we try to explain G-ds methods and I don't believe He expects us to. Just witness according to His word is ours to do. |

59 | Why does God respect Satan's opinion | Job 1:8 | G. Preston | 233092
Finder, I don't think G-d was asking satan for an opinion. We should keep in mind that G-d asked other folks questions thru out the Bible. All, while he knew what was in their hearts. The encounter with satan concerning Job was no different. I submit what G-d allowed Job to endure (not...caused) was for His work which could include the following reasons; 1) He knew Job would not forsake his position and wanted that demonstrated to the world regardless of satans' attack; 2) He ....'may choose' ....not to know the depth of our commitment and wants it continuously demonstrated, thus He allowed Job to be tribulated. In Bible history and even today we see Christians paying a price. The Bible tells us we may go thru tribulations as we follow Christ during this physical life. G-d works in mysterious ways(to us)but, it is righteous. |
