41 | Is Passover connected with Resurrection | Heb 12:24 | sonofmom | 221777
Brad, you quote the verse saying, 'The sting of death is sin' And I agree that Christ, thru His work on the cross, has taken the negative aspect out of death. He surely gained reconciliation between God and fallen man, as He obtained remission of sin. One might say about sin, that its bark is worse than its bite. Thank you, Brad. Your response is appreciated, and very timely in this season. in anticipation, son |

42 | Is Passover connected with Resurrection | Heb 12:24 | sonofmom | 221778
Thanks, doc, your post had a way of leading me to the answer which I found in Col 2:16,17. "Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day -things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ. I found a commentary that explains this rather well: "Here is a caution to take heed of judaizing teachers, or those who would impose upon Christians the yoke of the ceremonial law: Let no man therefore judge you in meat nor drink, etc., v. 16. Much of the ceremonies of the law of Moses consisted in the distinction of meats and days. It appears by Rom. 14 that there were those who were for keeping up those distinctions: but here the apostle shows that since Christ has come, and has cancelled the ceremonial law, we ought not to keep it up. "Let no man impose those things upon you, for God has not imposed them: if God has made you free, be not you again entangled in that yoke of bondage.’’ And this the rather because these things were shadows of things to come (v. 17), intimating that they had no intrinsic worth in them and that they are now done away. But the body is of Christ: the body, of which they were shadows, has come; and to continue the ceremonial observances, which were only types and shadows of Christ and the gospel, carries an intimation that Christ has not yet come and the gospel state has not yet commenced. Observe the advantages we have under the gospel, above what they had under the law: they had the shadows, we have the substance. -Matthew Henry Thanks for your help doc, you actually had a pretty good answer after I got past the parts about me needing a whole new mindset, and I thought the practices of some to be better than others. I really think it is amazing how you knew so much, just by my simple query. ...and to think I thought I found a sincere christian forum Sorry for the sting doc, your work was appreciated. But like I said once I got past the fluff, I was led to an answer. |

Thank you doc, your time is appreciated in formulating your response, after putting aside the sophmoric observations and verses taken out of context which have little to do with the subject. I did not find my dignity impugned in the least, because there is no lack of integrity within my heart., nor do I find pleasure in that among others. Putting that behind, I am quite trying to stay on task here. The task I am concerned with is an ongoing dialogue between myself and some that observe Jewish feasts and feel obligated to continue. They would like me to learn more about the meaning of certain feasts, but I wanted to learn also from a Christian perspective. Alas, I continue to search out a Christian perspective. Certainly, there is no harm in participating in the celebration of these feasts, as long as one does not use them as a replacement for Christ's blood, just as there is no harm in participating in other activities that offer fellowship but are unable to procure salvation. As I turn to Exodus, I find that the feast in question is to be an ordinance for ever: And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever. (Ex 12:14) How does the Bible define "for ever"? So, I will study further, knowing that Jer 31:31 says, "Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah" This, because the design of divine grace is much more perfect than the law, the law being only a rough sketch of the beautiful picture yet to come. |

45 | Do they who reign live 900 years? | Rev 20:1 | sonofmom | 224870
Thanks for the reply, I know the query was a bit vague.. Yes, the discussion was about the millennial reign where believers reign with Christ. a young man said he heard that believers were to go back to living long lives, like 900 years or so. I never heard of such, so I questioned and the pastor agreed with him. This pastor is very knowledgable in the word. I thought they were suggesting that the people who reign with Christ were to go back to living lives of multiple centuries. I will have to question them further on the subject son |

Aleichem Shalom ariel, well, thank you all for the help, I will just have to go to the pastors office and ask him. I have some work to do on the tile floor at this church so I will be there soon. I was hoping to get some insight before I questioned him. Bless you all for trying (((o: son |
