41 | Justification for non-Christian Living?? | Gal 5:24 | prazn | 87471
Hi EdB, Thanks for your comments. I'm wondering, who on earth, after having an encounter with our Risen Lord, and confessing they need Him to save them, would want to continue to live like a demon? If a follower of Christ wanted to live like a demon, they would never admit their need for Jesus in the first place, they could just keep on the path of destruction laid by the enemy; am I right?!? Concerning our Lord's admonition about judging others, check out the following words, which Jesus Himself spoke: Luke 6:37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned." Respectfully, prazn |

42 | Justification for non-Christian Living?? | Gal 5:24 | prazn | 87443
Based upon my own experience, there are many Christians who do not understand the struggles of those who were not raised in the church. When a Christian has been in the world most of his or her life, the struggle between the spirit and the flesh is much more pronounced, even though we have the Holy Spirit living within us. The Christians that profess to be mature in the Lord seem to be the very ones who least exhibit the character and nature (i.e., spirit) of Christ. Christ told us not to judge. Christ told us to love our neighbors as ourselves. Yet, the supposedly mature believers, that I have encountered, are more unloving and intolerant than non-believers. It takes time for the Holy Spirit to conform us to the image of Christ. The very fact that there are no perfect Christians on this planet, as far as I know, is proof of that. God bless you! |

2 Tim 3:1 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 Tim 3:2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 2 Tim 3:3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 2 Tim 3:4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 2 Tim 3:5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. 2 Tim 3:6 For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, 2 Tim 3:7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. |

44 | Starve the flesh, feed the Spirit | Gal 2:20 | prazn | 87417
All Christians have two natures: the self-nature (flesh) and the divine nature (spirit). Our spirit is made alive when we first believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, rose again, and reigns in our hearts. The less mature you are in the Lord, the more difficult it is to crucify the "flesh". This is where belief in the cross of Christ comes in. We cannot, in our own strength, overcome the "flesh". All that we can do, and MUST do, is to submit ungodly desires/actions to the Lord. We do this by confessing our desires/actions to the Lord, daily, and by relying upon His power to overcome whatever we are struggling with. For example, suppose that you are a gossip. But, you desperately want the spiritual fruit of love to be manifested within you. Simply go to the Lord in prayer and tell him all about your struggle; be specific. For example, tell the Lord: "I gossip about so-and-so because I envy her" or "I gossip about so-and-so because I'm jealous of him". Tell the Lord that you don't want to be a gossip any longer and confess that you need His help to fulfill His command to love others as ourselves. Then allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you. Look up and meditate on scripture that speaks to loving others (e.g., 1 Cor 13); you're now feeding the spirit. Then commit to demonstrating godly love, as defined by scripture, in ways that are specific and measurable. We cannot merely be hearers of the Word, but doers; so we must commit to specific actions, enabled by the power of the Holy Spirit. At first, it may seem that you are fighting the battle alone. But, our Lord is faithful and He will not tarry to cleanse you of your unrighteousness, nor to relieve you of your burden. This act of confession and repentance to the Lord (i.e., cleansing) should be continual. Everytime that the urge to gossip comes upon you, go through the process again. As long as we live in these earthen vessels, we will have struggles with the "flesh". However, as we learn to rely upon the Lord, we will find ourselves walking more according to the spirit, rather than the flesh. Blessings! |

45 | Active Homosexuals: Truly Christian? | Rom 1:21 | prazn | 87414
In Mark 12:42 our Lord observed a poor widow deposit two (2) copper coins into the treasury of the synagogue. Why was Jesus so concerned about the money that was deposited into the treasury of the synagogue? He certainly didn't take heed to the payment of government taxes (see Mark 12:17), except to tell us to pay them. Perhaps, a better example of a sinful action that is committed out of ignorance is gossip. Most Christians don't believe that they are behaving in a sinful manner when they gossip, however, our Lord tells us what things constitute "evil" (i.e., sinfulness), in Mark 7:20-22: Mark 7:20 And He was saying, "That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man. Mark 7:21 "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, Mark 7:22 deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness. Mark 7:23 "All these evil things proceed from within and defile the man." My point is, "sin" is a heart-condition, NOT an action. Sinful actions results when we worship "self" more than we worship "God". Since I haven't met a perfect believer, yet, that leads me to conclude that there are a lot of folks out there who are either willfully disobedient or simply ignorant of what sin really is. Blessings! |

47 | Active Homosexuals: Truly Christian? | Rom 1:21 | prazn | 87233
When the Lord returns for His Bride (i.e., the Church), then believers will be perfected in Him. 1 Cor 15:51 Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 1 Cor 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 1 Cor 15:53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. 1 Cor 15:54 But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, "DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP in victory. 1 Cor 15:55 "O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?" 1 Cor 15:56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; 1 Cor 15:57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. |

No. I've never said, or knowingly implied, that any human can achieve sinless perfection, as Christ (the God-Man) did. I believe that a person can commit a sinful act, out of ignorance. For example, God says in Mal 3:8, "Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, 'How have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings." I know of many Christians who do not tithe. Not because they haven't read the scriptures which encourage us to tithe, but because the Spirit of the Living God has not yet dealt with them about that act of faith, for whatever reason. Tithes and offerings are necessary for the Kingdom of God to be advanced upon this earth. But, more importantly than that, tithing is a gesture of faith in our Lord, which will be rewarded with a demonstration of His power to "pour out...blessing[s] [that] we won't have room enough to receive". And, yes, I know that this is Old Testament, but our God doesn't change. Believers are not exempted from His laws and commandments, as stated in the Old Testament. Hope this answers your question. |

I haven't said that same sex marriage is OK. Sin, however manifested in the life of a believer, is NOT OK! What I support is any individual who seeks relationship with our Lord. The Lord is the only One who can judge the human heart and the Lord is the only One who can change the condition of the human heart as it is yielded to His perfect will.

Sorry Angelightboy, I hadn't read the previous posts and didn't know what I was getting into the middle of. Essentially, sin is our wanting to live our lives independent of our Creator. The symptoms of sin are homosexuality, murder, lying, cheating, stealing, etc. God is love. Jesus is the truth. God's Word tells us that when we confess our sins, the Lord is faithful to cleanse us of our sins and to deliver us from all unrighteousness. Jesus (the Truth) tells us to take His yoke upon us...for His yoke is easy and His burden is light. So, when we confess our sins, the Lord will cleanse us. When we accept the work of Christ on the cross (He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement for our peace was upon Him), He lifts our burdens from us and delivers us from our sinful ways. These are but a few of His promises to those of us who believe Him. |

1 John 4:8 tells us that "...God is love." John 14:6 tells us that God (Jesus) is the Truth. Since God is love, "God" (Love) rejoices in Truth. And, since God is Truth; God rejoices in His Truth (Jesus). Hope this helps. |

53 | Parallels? | Ps 119:1 | prazn | 86216
Amen! Phil 3:7 But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Phil 3:8 More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, Phil 3:9 and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, Phil 3:10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; Phil 3:11 in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Phil 3:12 Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Phil 3:13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, Phil 3:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. God bless you! prazn |

Hi EdB, I agree with you about the realities of "proof texting". This is why it is so important, that every believer read/study the scriptures for himself, or herself, and not simply accept the "opinions" of those who profess to be wise or the revelations of those who are "babes" in Christ. 1 Cor 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ. 1 Cor 3:2 I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, 1 Cor 3:3 for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men? God bless you! prazn |

57 | Scriptural basis for your opinions | Luke 16:23 | prazn | 86115
Whatever the Holy Spirit leads you to do, Tim, is fine with me. You are not working unto man, but unto our Lord; so, please bear in mind: James 3:1 Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment. 1 Cor 3:9-15 "...we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building. According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it. For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work. If any man's work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire." Stay blessed! |

58 | Biblically Based Questions/Notes | John 7:18 | prazn | 86113
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, it would be most helpful if you would cite scripture when responding to questions in this forum. Many of us are diligent to search out and quote the scriptures that will help others to know the Truth. Of course, the adversary will do anything and everything he can to delude us with doctrines that are contrary to the Word of God. His tactic is to promote divisiveness and disunity among the faithful. Please don't allow this to continue! |

59 | Scriptural basis for your opinions | Luke 16:23 | prazn | 86111
I'm sorry, Tim. I didn't specify which note of yours I was referring to; you've written quite a few (glory to God!). Please provide the scriptural basis for the opinions that you expressed in your previous note, for the edification of those of us who are not as knowledgeable about the scriptures, as you appear to be (see below): Note: Greetings Phil! It has long been a common tactic for those who reject the teaching that the dead are aware to turn the story of Lazarus and the rich man into a parable. But, as I've asked several individuals over the last few days, where in Scripture is it identified as such? Of course, the answer is nowhere. So, you are operating on an assumption that this must be a parable. The only reason being that it disagrees with your belief about death. I accept it as the text presents it - an historical account of two real people. Now, on to your questions my friend! 1) What is the second death? Rev. 20:15 answers this question: "The lake of fire is the second death." The second death is the final judgement of the wicked. 2) Do I believe in an immortal soul? If by this question you mean, "Do I believe that once a person has been born, that their essence from that point on will continue to exist even after death" - the answer is "Yes". Man is not eternal as God is, but man will continue to exist either in the presence of God or eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire. 3) Living soul? Your analogy is interesting, but fails to consider that Scripture says we have soul, spirit, and body. I have always leaned toward a similar understanding as you, that man is a composite unity of body and spirit. I think of it in terms of man being a soul, not having a soul. However, I see the breath of life as being our spirit. Just as the body existed prior to the spirit entering it, it is also possible that the spirit can exist apart from the body. This is where your analogy falls apart. It does not consider the spiritual part of man at all, only the natural. 4) Sleep? I believe that 'sleep' is a euphemism for death. I don't take the term to be literal. It has long been the case that people don't like to say that someone died. So, we come up with ways to say it without really saying it. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

The following scriptures may shed some light for you: Rom 3:19-20 Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin. Rom 7:4 Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. 1 Tim 1:8-9 But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane Heb 10:1 For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very form of things, can never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually year by year, make perfect those who draw near. Rom 8:1-4 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. |
