41 | Integrity | Num 12:7 | Country Girl | 132024
As you've seen in the numerous responses, it's difficult to narrow the answer down to just one, there are so many good candidates from God's Word. But it seems you're striving to narrow the field down to those who showed such integrity ALL their lives (which you neglected to make clear in your initial question :-). So people like David, Paul and Moses who made serious mistakes in their lives wouldn't qualify and meet your very tough standard. I'm not sure I could top your candidates of Daniel or Joseph but I would remind you that Joseph did try to assert his way with his father in switching hands on his sons. That's the single instance where we see Joseph not in complete sync with God's chosen. One more candidate that at least should NOT be left out of this line up is Enoch. We don't know much about him but he at least led such a good life that God took him without the advent of death. Your question does spark some very good discussion so Blessings to you, my friend. As I alluded to in my earlier posts, the biggest thing that the Pope, indeed the whole Papacy system needs to repent for is their sin of deceiving the whole world. Don't you see, this issue is somewhat closely related to the very core foundation upon which this Forum was founded. Along with acknowledging the Absolute Supremecy of God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and Holy Ghost is that of the Bible, God's Holy Word. The Bible (all of what It represents) not the actual hard copy with all of man's imperfections and translations is Absolutely Holy as it really is the acutal Words of God Himself. ONLY the Bible gets that kind of respect. No christian here on earth, no elder, deacon, nothing else and no one else on earth, nothing physical should command that kind of honor and should be put on that pedestal. For anyone to claim to receive a special "dose" of revelation about God's business, organization of or running the church's affairs in any way should conflict with His Guidance in our Bible. There's absolutely NOTHING in the Bible to suggest that Peter passed on this kind of authority from himself to anyone. IF he had, it would have been very clearly described and specifically detailed as this is an incredibly important issue. For any human being to take guidance from another human but to consider it equal to God's Word is ludicrous. When an objective study is made of God's Word and the history surrounding this controversy, it becomes astondingly clear this whole thing was man's doing. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the Catholics didn't get around to actually declaring with a public proclamation about this infallibility of the Pope until 1870 AND this proclamation has NEVER been repealed nor has there ever been a public apology. AND this controversy had been discussed and hotly debated by the Catholics for centuries...even they could not agree on the exact wording for this proclamation. So, although I feel tremendous sorrow for Emmanus and his fellow Catholics, I cannot allow the Forum participants to misunderstand and buy into this continued deception without saying something about it. I have said and I will continue praying for Emmanus, but again when faced with a choice between the words of man or the Words of God, we must make our choice very clear. I hope this helps you understand and Blessings to you. Country Girl |

43 | Wisdom vs. knowledge | Prov 1:7 | Country Girl | 131898
Your words do have a very solid ring of truth to them but as DocT implies in his post on this thread, the ultimate wisdom comes from God. In addition to Proverbs, I would really recommend Ecclesiastes for the more mature christian who really wants to get into some deep stuff. We just finished this book, written by the wisest man who ever live or will live, Solomon. It's a sad commentary to his life that in spite of all his wisdom and the wonderful legacy of a wonderful relationship, his father, King David had with God...it's a shame that Solomon didn't follow his own words in Chapter 12 of Ecclesiastes and obey God's Words and keep himself pure from the world. Nevertheless, he was the world's wisest man and we can still benefit from his suggestions. Eccl 12:13 The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. Blessings to all those who obey God's Word. Country Girl |

Thanks, Emmanus. I knew one of you intellectual sharpies would come to my rescue. I guess it's sorta like the tendancy for people to come up with quotes that aren't really in the Bible. We do seem to take certain liberties with famous quotes from the past. I do sincerely appreciate your great knowledge and handling of God's Word. Blessings to you, my dear friend. Country Girl |

I'm sure you've heard the expression: "All it takes for evil to succeed is for the good, moral folks in the world to remain silent." The devil will do the rest. I wish I could recall who said those words. Maybe you or DocT knows. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

I'll say just this one last statement and then hush as I really don't want to cause Emmanus or anyone else any more grief. The one single item that should be put on the pedestal that is claimed by the Pope is the Bible, God's Word. As long as the Pope DOES NOT make an open and public confession, repenting for his mistake then all Catholics everywhere will continue to be deceived. Again, ONLY the Bible (no particular version) can be placed on that pedestal commanding mankind everywhere to repent. Please notice, I'm NOT advocating worship and our bowing to the hard copy, written Bible. Absolutely not, only the Godhead get that kind of worship. But I AM saying that ONLY God's Word can be used to find Jesus and thus find God and eventually become a christian. Only the Bible (really only the NT for this dispensation) dictates with authority, activities, methods of worship and all other actions involving the Lord's church here on earth. Everything else has to wait until the ending of time and the universe on Judgment Day. I really need to hush now and get off my soapbox but Blessings to us all, especially Emmanus as he continues to study and pray on this matter. Our prayers are with you, my friend, Emmanus. Country Girl PS: This is one time, I'm thankful to see the "thread restriction" as I'd really only want the most mature christians to see this post. Blessings to our wise Lockman Foundation. |

Angel, your statement is very, very well put. I would add as a reminder to everyone that there's a somewhat militant portion of people who claim to be christians right here in America. Some of them talk about and apparently have actually executed some doctors and other medical personnel who were involved in the industry of performing abortions. Now of course, I don't believe in abortions but just as emphatically, I don't believe in killing those who do. Norrie, I really do hope you continue to study and pray on this matter as it will be very important to you in the future. Blessings to both you and Angel. Country Girl |

I deeply regret that you've been thoroughly deceived into believing this doctrine. I was really hoping you were a member of a Catholic sect that didn't believe in this particular deception. It's just so hard to believe that so many millions have been deceived in spite of all the Bible teaching AND the tremendous amount of history of abuses and mistakes of the Catholic organization over the fifteen hundred years they've been in existence. I really do hope you'll study and pray on this matter. I hope you'll reconsider after seeing all the posts from the other Forum participants. Please continue to pray and study on all of this. I would encourage you to think about this. There's nothing in the Bible giving power and authority to the Pope to rule in such an absolute manner as he does. Blessings to you, dear friend. I'm glad to see that you don't believe in the infallibility of the Pope. But the Pope and his organization in Rome do or so it seems according the Catholic website, http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/07790a.htm. Concerning the custom of praying through the saints in Heaven, it seems that Jesus taught in Jn 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. and endorsed by Paul 1 Tim 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, Heb 8:6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. Blessings to you, dear friend. Country Girl |

I was just cruising the Forum as I do upon occasion and noticed your Post. In it, you seem to imply that not everyone in the Catholic faith believes everything alike. Please don't take offense as I ask these questions purely from a perspective of curiosity. 1) Do you believe in the doctrine of the Catholic Pope being infallible or equal to God Himself as the Catholics declared in 1870? In other words, can the Pope still issue edicts equal to the Bible Itself in power and authority to christians? 2) Do you practice the custom of praying to or through the virgin mother Mary, mother of Jesus? Or any other saints from the past, including those cited in the Bible, i.e. Apostles? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

I can't believe I read the whole thing. Although there's a slight urge in me as a fellow human to agree with you, there's a Holy Spirit within me endorsing what my conscience is whispering. Yes, we see great cruelty and very horrible actions from the militant Islam but then so did those who lived through the Spanish Inquisitions and the Crusades before that. That's one of the world's most recurring themes throughout its history, the struggle depicted between good and evil but even so with all that as a given fact, we're still told by Christ, the Ruler of this world to "forgive our enemies and bless them that persecute us." I agree with you, sometimes this is VERY tough to do, especially with a genuine heart of love and NOT feel what our gut instinct tells us to feel. We must repeat over and over to ourselves that we must hate the sin but love the sinner, as does our God above. I was brought up in a military family and have been myself involved in supporting the military war machine in the overseas theatre and I do support our country's attempt to right the wrongs in the Middle East and try to get those folks started toward a more sane form of self government but we also should realize Christ's way is the best way. You post comes dangerously close to inciting a riot so I would remind you and all other readers only the "peacemakers will be called sons of God," Matt 5. After all, if we retaliate as you're suggesting, we're no better than the evil they are perpetrating on the world. Now, as a practical matter, I do hope and pray that countries across the globe will unite with us and try to form a united front and literally ostracize this terrorism element and try them for the crimes and carry out the proper punishment as determined by the courts. But this must be done with a focus on some semblence of justice instead of vengence. That's the only way, we could hope to get God's blessing on our actions. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

Since this verse from Peter seems to be talking about living people who are dead in their sins, do you have any other scriptures to support this other view about "the outer darkness or prison?" Does the website provide any such scriptures in support? Sorry, I didn't take the time to check out the site myself. Might do so later on. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

So the sum total testamonies of Jesus from the NT are a confirmation that He was both 100 per cent God AND 100 per cent Human. The One and Only Person absolutely Unique in this world to have lived such a life. And the most wonderful thing about all this is that He came here with the single purpose of dying for all of us as the Perfect Sacrifice and to set up His church, His bride. Praise the Lord. So I assume his name is pronounced Top-lady. I noticed he only lived 38 years, as you mentioned. Do you know why life was cut short? Sorry for all these questions. 57 | Difference between christian/ disciple | Acts 11:26 | Country Girl | 131009
I don't know if there is a specific verse that deals with your specific question but I would offer the following scripture Luke 10:38 Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. Luke 10:39 She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord's feet, listening to His word. Luke 10:40 But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me." Luke 10:41 But the Lord answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; Luke 10:42 but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her." Notice that Jesus does NOT condemn or criticize Martha for tending to these duties of hers but he does place the proper emphasis on Mary's preference for listening and this in spite of the Jewish custom of putting all women in a servant position of life. Also your concerns identified above don't seem to violate Bible or Jesus' teachings, I do think they don't warrant but a minute of our time as they are strickly the administrative details. God the Creator of the Universe and His Son, Savior of the whole world "have bigger fish to fry" and higher priorities. Hope this helps. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

Great words. So true, we ourselves don't have a prayer of measuring up on Judgment Day without God's Grace to help us, here and now, every day, every hour of our lives. Just one question. I love to find out about names. Did the author pronounce his last name with the "p" in the first or second syllable? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

59 | Are Jesus and God 2 or 1? | John 8:17 | Country Girl | 130749
Provided for context: John 10:24 The Jews then gathered around Him, and were saying to Him, "How long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly." John 10:25 Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father's name, these testify of Me. John 10:26 "But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep. John 10:27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; John 10:28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. John 10:29 "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. John 10:30 "I and the Father are one." It seems pretty obvious (to me at least) that Jesus was saying that He and Father are one Being. That is they think alike. Their priorities are one and in perfect harmony. Don't get me wrong, there are just a few things that even Jesus didn't know, at least not then. Mk 13:32 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. Thus we see in this some clear distinctions among the three that make up this Godhead but for us humans in our finite understanding, God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit are all one. I hope this is clear. Blessings to you. Country Girl |
