When the Bible says that the wages of sin is death; what is it referring to since there are 7 different types of death mentioned in the Bible? Romans 6:23 (NKJV) (A) 23 For the wages of sin is death, When Jesus said it is finished in John 19:30 he wasn’t dead yet so it couldn’t have been His physical that paid the price for sin. John 19:30 (NKJV) 30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. The word finished in the English is translated from the Koine Greek verb “TELEO” and it is in the indicative mood which means it was “already a reality” at that point in time and the passive voice meaning He had received it so it wasn’t physical death that paid the price! The blood as referred in the OT is what’s known as a representative analogy: it foreshadowed what the Messiah would accomplish when He came into the world. It could only cover sin at that point in time until the Lamb of God would take it away. Again what death was it that paid the price for sin? If you suggest that it was physical death then when we die physically that would pay for our own sins and that won’t cut it! CDBJ |

43 | ARE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS ABOLISHED ? | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 235707
Greetings, I realize that you said specifically the “Ten Commandments”, which is what is considered to be codex number one of the Mosaic law of which there are three; codex 1, codex 2, codex 3. I would like to start with the verse that you alluded to Gal. 3:19. Galatians 3:19 (NKJV) 19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. The portion of the verse, “till the Seed should come” actually answers the reason for the NO in my response. The word “till” in the English is translated from the Koine Greek word “ACHRE” and should be translated “UNTILL” being the preposition in the genitive case. Note translation in the Galatians 3:19 (NASB) 19 Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made. There is a duration of time involved abrogating codex one when the seed, which was promised, should come, i.e. the Messiah or the Christ. Jesus Christ is the end of the law for those that are in Him or born again believers, the children of God by faith in Christ. Romans 10:4 (NASB) 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. Those that have put their total trust or faith alone in Jesus alone, for their eternal state, are actually under a higher law once they rely on the finished work that was completed on the cross by God’s Son. Romans 8:2-4 (NASB) 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. What Paul is telling us in Galatians is that the commandments point out to us that we a helpless, hopeless and condemned by the law. I like to illustrate our position under the law. Visualize a pole sticking out over Grand Canyon and hanging from the pole is a chain containing ten links, as it were. On the bottom link is a chair welded to the chain and you are sitting in the chair. The chain with its ten links represents the 10 commandments. God has said the following, Romans 3:23 (NASB) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, This is telling us that the chain just broke due to at least one link falling. How many links does one have to break before they are headed for the bottom of the canyon which is a mile down? (Just one) The only option left is to scream out GOD HELP ME PLEASE!!!! God has done exactly that in the person of His Son Jesus the appointed one. That is what the word Messiah or Christ means, appointed one. God appointed His Son to take your place in the chair and crash at the bottom and in doing so He, Christ gives you what He Has or deserves, everlasting life with the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NASB) 21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. That’s why I said, Yes and No to the Ten Commandments. Have you come to the place yet where you know, without a shadow of doubt that you have everlasting life with God when you die? It’s a sure thing because Jesus paid the price and God the Father was satisfied with the work that He did on the cross. God promises us eternal life as a gift and He gives us that gift when we put all of our hope in what Jesus did for us, we can’t earn eternal life by doing anything. When we try to work or earn something we are given wages, look what God says about wages. Romans 6:23 (NASB) 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. There isn’t any other way to get to heaven but by Jesus Christ and faith in Him. John 14:6 (NASB) 6 Jesus *said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. Here is a set of promises that you can truly believe in. 1 John 5:10-13 (NASB) 10 The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. 11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. I hope this clears up my answer to your question and that you have made a decision for Christ as I did many years ago, CDBJ |

Greetings again Escar, I think we should start over on a little different footing and see if we can’t iron out some of what we aren’t in agreement on. For starters we are close to the same age and I would like to know if you have had any past training or much experience in the old Hebrew or the Koine Greek of the original languages of the Bible, not to mention the Aramaic? There is a question that I always like to ask of those that I converse with to make sure we are both on the same page as it were. If I could please start with that then I will let you respond in kind? (Question) Let’s say for example, if you were to pass from this life today and stand before God, “which at our late age is getting rather close” and God were to ask you this pertinent question. He looks you right in the eye and says, with a booming voice! (WHY SHOULD I LET YOU COME INTO MY KINGDOM,) how would you respond or just what would say to Him; please be brief but give it some thought it only hypothetical? This is a question that not too many have pondered but I find it very helpful in understanding the theology of those that I communicate with. There is no right or wrong answer, it’s just what “you would say” or what you think you might say. The Bible does tell us though that man is appointed once to die and after that the judgment. Looking for your thoughtful response, CDBJ |

Greetings, Here is another way that might help. James 1:21 (KJV) 21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. The word engrafted is translated from the Koine Greek word EMPHYTOS which means impregnated but keep the following in mind. John 1:13 (KJV) 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Those who are born again or saved have only God to thank. Those who are lost or unsaved have only themselves to blame. The relationship with God must be by consent! The consent is given when one trust in the finished work Of the Lord Jesus Christ. Have a great day, CDBJ |

Greetings, I have reference to just such a predicament. Acts 13:48 in comparison to II Pet. 3:9 Acts 13:48 (KJV) 48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. The previous is an example of God’s sovereign decision. The following doesn’t play out correctly when considering God’s will, which is also His sovereign decision, i.e. what God desires, He is able to perform! 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. If mans repentance toward God is actually a direct act of God according to Acts 13:48, and if God on the other hand desires for all to be saved, i.e. His will, why doesn’t He so decree that all should be saved? We know for a fact that there are more lost then there are saved. Matthew 7:14 (KJV) 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (God’s provision verses man’s responsibility) I have been trying to figure this one out for close to 47 years now, CDBJ |

53 | Why does God respect Satan's opinion | Job 1:8 | CDBJ | 233072
Greetings, If we are ignorant of God’s Word and suffer as a result, (“Man... how I suffer because of ignorance, and God bothers in making evil spirits aware of the mysteries of life, while we have to be groping in the dark like Job....”) It’s because we have neglected to be obedient to God’s command to us. 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. The word “study” in the previous verse is the Koine Greek word “SPUDAZO” and it is in the imperative mood and the active voice which means you are to produce the action and the imperative mood means it is commanded by the Lord. By not doing this it will put one out of fellowship and your growth will be stunted. In order to grow “in Christ” we are constantly put to the test to see if we will apply Bible doctrine to our experiences or fail by trying to sustain ourselves through the energy of the flesh which is nothing more then responding to the dictates of our old sin nature. This grieves the Holy Spirit who is our personal teacher and retards the super natural way of life that’s provided for us by the Father. Christ always used Bible doctrine to combat the cosmos attacks of spiritual wickedness. Do your self a big favor and get more involved with the intake of Bible doctrine on a daily basis! Have a great day, CDBJ |

54 | Is there a bible verse that means this? | Rom 8:28 | CDBJ | 232180
Greetings and welcome to the forum. When I first started reading the Bible for my self I was given a very good peace of information that turned out to be very informative. I would like to pass this on to you and if used, will save you a lot of time and confusion. You seem to be following the same pattern that I pursued which lead to many misunderstandings of Scripture. The best interpretation of the Bible is the Bible it’s self. The best advice I was given was to read through the New Testament no less then three times before ever venturing into any of the Old Testament and before reading, always ask the Lord to reveal the truth of His Word to you. The best news that I found was that eternal life is a free gift from God and that when God gives that free gift you will have not doubt that you have eternal life right here and now. It can’t be earned and it doesn’t depend on us but Jesus and the fact that He paid the price that God requires for our salvation. Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Some of the most fantastic promises that God has offered us are found in the book of John’s gospel. God can’t lie and we must depend on this fact and claim those promises! Have a great day and stick to the Word, CDBJ |

Know problem B.R., I'd like to have a dollar for every time I’ve done that in the past! Say while I am at it and speaking of the past; I've been a poster on this forum since 2001 and I have been meaning to ask you if you use to be an old poster that used the name "Inquisitor". Many of your postings are following the exact same format and they hold my interest in the same way? Some people have returned to the forum after being off for years and like me they forget their old sign in names. My problem is I usually have to go clear all my stuff up and it takes me days to get around to ironing it all out and for sake of ease I just end up using a new name to sign in with in some cases. Keep me posted, CDBJ |

59 | Plan for people who will never be saved? | NT general | CDBJ | 230900
Greetings, I’ve always thought it better to follow the Word rather then ramble on about something that one doesn’t quite understand. Notice how paul puts it. 2 Tim. 4:1-5 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. Dear Bill, I hate to say this but your post reminds me of the time before I knew Christ on a personal basis. I would attend “so called” Christian church’s and get close to the same message. Please try to stick with scripture due to the fact that, Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Not the word of Bill) Sent in love for the Word of God; please accept this as sent and have a great day, CDBJ |

Greetings, It sounds to me like you are on the right track. Don’t let you emotions get in the way of believing in God’s promises; that is the quickest way to be defeated in one’s spiritual walk! Read all of Heb. Chapter 11, then notice what it says in verse 39, then understand that God is the one who reveals truth to us through His Spirit. John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. I don’t know how long you have been a believer in Christ but for me it’s been over 46 years and I am still learning how to trust the Lord through the application of the faith rest technique. If you don’t understand certain things ask for wisdom and apply the following. Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: The more time spent in studying God’s word the better off you will be! 1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Have a great day, CDBJ |
