42 | Can we pray for others sins to be forgiv | James 5:16 | Wild Olive Shoot | 201667
Dear megbiehn, You have been given some sound advice from others, let me add if I may, some scripture and words of encouragement from C.H. Spurgeon. 1Timothy 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; “Continue to pray, brethren, for even if you should not want prayer yourself there are others who do—there are the dying, the sick, the poor, the ignorant, the backsliding, the blaspheming, the heathen at home, and the heathen abroad. "Pray without ceasing," for the enemy works incessantly, and as yet the kingdom has not come unto Zion. You shall never be able to say, "I left off praying, for I had nothing to pray for." This side heaven objects for prayer are as multitudinous as the stars of the sky.” – C.H. Spurgeon Ephesian 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. “I put in a practical word here. If you rejoice that you are pardoned, show your gratitude by your imitation of Christ. There was never before such a plea as this, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." Plead like that for others. Has anybody been injuring you? Are there persons who slander you? Pray to-night, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." Let us always render good for evil, blessing for cursing; and when we are called to suffer through the wrong-doing of others, let us believe that they would not act as they do if it were not because of their ignorance. Let us pray for them; and make their very ignorance the plea for their forgiveness: "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."… “Send up this petition, ye people of God! Heap your prayers together with cumulative power, send up this fiery shaft of prayer, straight to the heart of God, while Jesus from his throne shall add his prevalent intercession, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." – C.H. Spurgeon Prayer is to be made for everything lawful, for those living and who will live in the hereafter. But never for the dead or for those who have sinned the sin unto death. Prayer is for life. 1Jn 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. Stand in His grace, WOS |

44 | Who or what is gods true church | Eph 2:22 | Wild Olive Shoot | 201510
Dear fireandice, Easton’s Bible Dictionay defines it in part as such: “The church invisible “consists of the whole number of the elect that have been, are, or shall be gathered into one under Christ, the head thereof.” This is a pure society, the church in which Christ dwells. It is the body of Christ. it is called “invisible” because the greater part of those who constitute it are already in heaven or are yet unborn, and also because its members still on earth cannot certainly be distinguished. The qualifications of membership in it are internal and are hidden. It is unseen except by Him who “searches the heart.” “The Lord knoweth them that are his” (2Ti_2:19). The church to which the attributes, prerogatives, and promises appertaining to Christ's kingdom belong, is a spiritual body consisting of all true believers, i.e., the church invisible.” – Easton’s Bible Dictionary The true church is simply the visible who are those around the world who profess the true religion, and the invisible which is all of God’s elect that are under Christ, the Head. 2Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. Ephesians 2:19-22: 19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. 47 | wat kine of spice they use in Jesus | John 19:40 | Wild Olive Shoot | 201192
Dear Eddy and Tania, Here is what Albert Barnes writes about the spices used: "The Jews were accustomed to use myrrh, aloes, and other aromatics in large quantities when they buried their dead. When they were not regularly embalmed, which was a long and tedious process, they enclosed the spices in the folds of the linen, or wrapped the body in it. Spices were sometimes used in such quantities as to form a “heap or bed,” on which the dead body was laid. Thus it is said of Asa 2Ch_16:14, “they laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odors and spices,” etc. There not being time properly to embalm the body of Jesus, he was buried in this manner. The women who attended him, either not being aware of this, or desirous of showing a further regard for him, returned from the sepulchre and prepared other spices with which to embalm him on the first day of the week, Luk_23:56; Luk_24:1." 48 | the first love | Rev 2:4 | Wild Olive Shoot | 201157
Psalms 37:24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. Dear blue.eyes, I imagine there are many who feel, at one time or another, that they have pulled away from that first love. I know I have. However, I have found comfort in the grace of God and knowing that being His, although at times I have seemed let go of Him, He has never and will never let go of me. And when I have turned from Him, He graciously returns me to Him because of the faith He has freely given me, Christ’s intercession as well as the abiding of the Spirit. Jeremiah 31:3 The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. 1John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. God has done so much for us and continues to do so even though we deserve none of it. In knowing that, it should place upon your heart the drive and determination and longing to be as close to Him as you can and to stay there. Micah 7:7 But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me. “When I fall, and am in danger of being dashed in pieces by the fall, yet I shall arise, and recover myself again. I fall, but am not utterly cast down,” Psa_37:24. (3.) “When I sit in darkness, desolate and disconsolate, melancholy and perplexed, and not knowing what to do, nor which way to look for relief, yet then the Lord shall be a light to me, to comfort and revive me, to instruct and teach me, to direct and guide me, as a light to my eyes, a light to my feet, a light in a dark place.” – Matthew Henry 1John 4:19 We love because he first loved us. 2Thessalonoians 3:5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ. “Confess that a kind reception of you by God must be of grace alone. Nothing but grace can open a door for our returning. Sinners cannot be received of the Lord on any other terms but those of mercy. We would not ask to be dealt with according to our merits; but we thank the Lord that he hath not dealt with us after our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. As to our sins, we cannot answer him one of a thousand. The Lord must receive us graciously or reject us righteously. Are we not glad that sinners can be received in the name of grace, and find a welcome in the tender mercy of our God? Offer, then, this petition, "Receive us graciously." I am not content merely to talk to you about these gracious words; I want every soul here to use them in personal prayer. Oh, that the Lord would touch all lips by his grace, and lead them to say from the heart—"Lord, receive me, I return to thee. Take away all iniquity, and take me to thyself! Receive me as a subject of thy kingdom. Receive me of thy grace into thy home of love. Receive me into the family of thy redeemed on earth, and then receive me into thy mansion in heaven. 'Receive us graciously.” - C.H. Spurgeon http://www.biblebb.com/files/spurgeon/2192.htm Simply return to Him blue.eyes. Know His grace, react to His grace and live in His grace through faith in Christ. And referring to love, always keep this fact in mind, love is active: 1John 2:2 -5: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 51 | any verses show ethical business profit? | Bible general Archive 4 | Wild Olive Shoot | 200763
Dear heseeshisson, I’m not so sure that you will get an answer that will be satisfactory to you. What you’re asking as it seems to me, is for direction from God’s Word on how to conduct your business, specifically with pricing merchandise. I don’t know that His Word covers such a subject but He does inform us of principles and virtues that are indicative of His own, showing all who look upon our dealings, business, personal or otherwise, that we belong to Him. These should be utilized when establishing how to conduct your business as well as with whom to conduct it and what product or service you will be marketing. The whole of God’s counsel should be taken into consideration, so to pinpoint a specific verse would be difficult I think. With that in mind however, please consider the following to be some really sound advice: Proverbs 23:4 Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. “We must endeavor to live comfortably, and provide for our children and families, according as our rank and condition are, but we must not seek great things. Be not of those that will be rich, that desire it as their chief good and design it as their highest end. Covetous men think it is their wisdom, imagining that if they be rich to such a degree they shall be completely happy. Cease from that wisdom, for it is a mistake; a man's life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possesses. 1. Those that aim at great things fill their hands with business more than they can grasp, so that their life is both a perfect drudgery and a perpetual hurry; but be not thou such a fool; labour not to be rich. What thou hast, or doest, be master of it, and not a slave to it as those that rise up early, sit up late, and eat the bread of carefulness, and all to be rich. Moderate labour, that we may have to give, is our wisdom and duty. Immoderate labour, that we may have to hoard, is our sin and folly. 2. They fill their heads with projects more than they understand, so that their life is a constant toss of care and fear; but do not thou thus vex thyself: Cease from thy own wisdom; go on quietly in the way of thy business, not contriving new ways and setting thy wits to work to find out new inventions. Acquiesce in God's wisdom, and cease from thy own.” – Matthew Henry 1Timothy 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. Luke 12:16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: Ephesians 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. In the end my friend, conduct yourself, your business as a Christian is expected to. Stand in His grace, WOS |

52 | Is man the founder of religion? | Bible general Archive 4 | Wild Olive Shoot | 200705
Over the years, mankind has invented many religions. In the simplest of terms, man continues to create new religions at a breakneck pace. A simple definition of religion may be something akin to “a set of beliefs or practices adhered to by an individual or group”. Now, think about that and you can imagine how many manmade religions there are in the world, false religions. There is only one acceptable to God. One that is pure. One that is true. Jamess 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. “Is this - That is, this enters into it; or this is religion such as God approves. The apostle does not say that this is the whole of religion, or that there is nothing else essential to it; but his general design clearly is, to show that religion will lead to a holy life, and he mentions this as a specimen, or an instance of what it will lead us to do. The things which he specifies here are in fact two: (1) That pure religion will lead to a life of practical benevolence; and, (2) That it will keep us unspotted from the world. If these things are found, they show that there is true piety. If they are not, there is none.” – Albert Barnes See also 1Thessalonians 5:15-23 and Galatians 5:15-23 for some extra support. I’ve heard and read about groups that worshipped fire, wind and earth. Our own Holy Scripture tells of those who worship idols, these are all false religions. Being false and not true and unacceptable to God, where is it you imagine they began? Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. 2Corinthians 1:12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward. 53 | Two misdemenors committed in the bible. | Rom 6:23 | Wild Olive Shoot | 200596
Dear faithful08, Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. If the wages of sin is death, and death, by our standards anyhow, is an acceptable sentencing for a felony, then there aren’t any misdemeanors, which by our definition is less than a felony. All sin, any sin, against a holy God is worthy of death. That makes it a capital offense. So in that respect, I don’t see any misdemeanors. However, since society feels it necessary to label some transgressions as less harmful than others, and they may be, on our terms, we bring misdemeanors into play. But you would have to admit that things we deem as a misdemeanor is still a sin. Thus it deserves death, a felony or capital punishment, not necessarily to be carried out by us, but by the one we transgress, God. James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. Romans 3:23-25: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; Romans 5:8-11: 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. But by God’s grace, we don’t have to face the death penalty. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. I probably haven’t answered in the manner you were hoping. And based on the question itself, I’m sure someone has an answer somewhere. Stand in His grace, WOS |

56 | Verses 11-15 of Isaiah | Eph 1:12 | Wild Olive Shoot | 193569
I think so much of what we see today as “worship service” has allot of emptiness to it, especially that which is broadcast across our air waves. It seems so much is meant to stir the pot rather than the heart. Not trying to be cynical but we can carry out all of the so called worship we can muster, if it is simply for show, if it is not from the heart and true to God, there is no benefit to us. It was a long, long time that I recited The Lord’s Prayer as part of going through the motions because I felt it was an appropriate method of involving myself in prayer and that’s what I was taught. It was an awaking the first time I began to understand just how those words were real and instructive and not meant to be a mere “chant”, but so much more. On the other hand, an up note, I do believe there are many services out there, many churches, many peoples, who do truly worship from the heart. 1Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. “Be it ever in your remembrance, that to keep strictly in the path of your Saviour’s command is better than any outward form of religion; and to hearken to his precept with an attentive ear is better than to bring the fat of rams, or any other precious thing to lay upon his altar. If you are failing to keep the least of Christ’s commands to his disciples, I pray you be disobedient no longer. All the pretensions you make of attachment to your Master, and all the devout actions which you may perform, are no recompense for disobedience. “To obey,” even in the slightest and smallest thing, “is better than sacrifice,” however pompous. Talk not of Gregorian chants, sumptuous robes, incense, and banners; the first thing which God requires of his child is obedience; and though you should give your body to be burned, and all your goods to feed the poor, yet if you do not hearken to the Lord’s precepts, all your formalities shall profit you nothing. It is a blessed thing to be teachable as a little child, but it is a much more blessed thing when one has been taught the lesson, to carry it out to the letter. How many adorn their temples and decorate their priests, but refuse to obey the word of the Lord! My soul, come not thou into their secret.” – C. H. Spurgeon He desires our hearts and our obedience and so often, so many of us fall short. Stand in His grace, WOS |

57 | How do I explain Eph5:22-25 to my man? | Eph 5:22 | Wild Olive Shoot | 192951
First things first. Don't stop at v25. Ephesians 5:25-33: 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. "The duty of husbands (on the other hand), is to love their wives (Eph_5:25); for without this they would abuse their superiority and headship, and, wherever this prevails as it ought to do, it will infer the other duties of the relation, it being a special and peculiar affection that is required in her behalf. The love of Christ to the church is proposed as an example of this, which love of his is a sincere, a pure, an ardent, and constant affection, and that notwithstanding the imperfections and failures that she is guilty of. The greatness of his love to the church appeared in his giving himself unto the death for it. Observe, As the church's subjection to Christ is proposed as an exemplar to wives, so the love of Christ to his church is proposed as a pattern to husbands; and while such exemplars are offered to both, and so much is required of each, neither has reason to complain of the divine injunctions. The love which God requires from the husband in behalf of his wife will make amends for the subjection which he demands from her to her husband; and the prescribed subjection of the wife will be an abundant return for that love of the husband which God has made her due." Dear cmorgan1107, The Westminster Confession of Faith in Chapter II: Of God, and of the Holy Trinity, explains it this way. III. In the unity of the Godhead there be three Persons of one substance, power, and eternity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. The Father is of none, neither begotten nor proceeding; the Son is eternally begotten of the Father; the Holy Ghost eternally proceeding from the Father and the Son. 60 | Scripture alone? | James 1:5 | Wild Olive Shoot | 191883
Dear Parable, Probably not a good “game” to participate in. Most of us realize that Scripture not taken in context can be very dangerous and I’ll refer to Christ’s temptation in the wilderness where satan used Scripture out of context to tempt our Lord. So although you should maybe be commended for your efforts to keep study interesting with ways anew and enlightening, this effort may fall short of achieving that purpose and actually be harmful for some. Matthew 4:1-11: 1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
