41 | what approach did paul take | Bible general Archive 4 | Tamara Brewington | 205272
Dear Beanna, Welcome to the forum! Paul started out by reasoning with the all the Athenians and the strangers gathered at the Aeropagus where all would gather to talk about things new. He speaks of having observed that the men of Athens are very religious people in all respects. Then he begins to reason with them about the Unknown God and how they were worshipping this god in ignorance. He goes on to describe the qualities of this Unkown God for many verse. One could even say Paul used wisdom in the way in which he choose to reveal who the Unkown God is. However, a switch in mode occurs in verse 31 as Paul stops reasoning and begins to give a very short straight forward declaration of a man who has been appointed a judge of the world by the Unkown God and prooved to be so by being raised from the dead. This is about the shortest testament of the death and resurrection of Jesus that can be found in the whole NT, but it is a declaration of His death and resurrection and the judging of men through Jesus. What Paul does not use the other elements that he and Peter usually employed; the proof that Jesus rules eternally on the throne of David and that David does not and is dead, the crucifixion story, the OT prohecies come true in the life, ministry, and person of Jesus. But he does say Christ died and was raised from the dead, however short, he does give the central message of the gospel, in one very short sentence. He began with reasoning and wisdom, but ended up in a declarative sentence containing the essence of the gospel message of salvation. You will find other instances in Acts where it is said of Peter, of Paul and of Steven that wisdom or reasoning was used to approach the unblievers. What you will find is that except in instances where they are presenting a defense to prosecution, examination by kings and rulers, and while presenting an accusation to those who are about to stone the speaker to death, the central message of the death, or crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus is presented as what consist of the message preached, whatever the means of delivery may be. God's day to you, Tamara |

42 | names and events | Bible general Archive 4 | Tamara Brewington | 205239
Dear ardmore, You received very good advice, I would add that the more times you read the passage, or the whole Bible, the better you will remember it. I would also add that if you start doing word studies with a concordance of names and events in the OT you will find that you start to remember them becuase you have studied them in depth. You could start by looking up the word Elisha in the concordance for instance and go to each place where his name appears and start reading before and after where his name appears. That will reteach you what his life was all about and familiarize you with the passage, the events, the other people and so on. Then in about two weeks go back and do the same word study over again, I guaruntee you will find out something new each time about the events, the people and so on. Here is another technique to try, stop highlighting your Bible for a while if you have been. Go looking up an event like Nehemia eating grass like an ox in the concordance firs, then the Bible. Trace what happened before and after for a few pages, then go look up another king who rebelled against God and another, until you have looked up 5 of them. Don't mark your Bible when you do this, try to commit the chapter numbers to memory, and close the Bible. Open the Bible back up and go find everything again without using the concordance at all to find anything, when you get stuck use the concordance one king at a time. Go do the same exact study the next day and the next, by the end of the week you will know by heart where these 5 rebellious kings are to be found without any trouble at all. I have done this with both the NT and the OT, for people, for events, for topics for everything it works... I have never marked my Bibles in 13 years of studying because I demand of myself that I will now where everything is one day, I practice and practice until I know where things are to be found. Bible study is not a piece of cake, it is hard work. Here is for you; II Timothy 2:15... God's day to you, Tamara |

43 | If a person hurts you and ask forgivenes | Bible general Archive 4 | Tamara Brewington | 205237
Dear Katielee, Mathew 18:21,22 Then Peter came and said to Him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven." Forgiveness is a requirement of being a Christian, if Jesus tells us to love both our neighbors and our enemies then we are to forgive both. Being a doormat for punishment and abuse that is not for the sake of preaching and teaching of the gospel is not required of Christians. Luke 17:3 "Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he returns to you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, 'I repent,' forgive him." There is another thing to think about, forgive them if they repent and ask for forgiveness. A non Christian or a non repentant Christian you may want to forgive just so you don't walk around angry and continuall hurt all the time and to make sure you are in the right with God. But according to this verse, if they don't repent, you are not required to forgive them. I had a lot of trouble (this is not a comment of frustration to forum members or snide remark about messages I may have recieved as a result) when I first came in here because I kept on including my personal circumstances with my questions. I had to learn to refrain a bit and rephrase my questions around the issue without going much into the situation the question came out of. I noticed that no one said anything like what was said to you regarding a man asking what to do about a situation with his mother in law, very very interesting, nothing got said to him, everyone just pitched in to help, and the thread went on and on for a while. Sometimes folks react to you differently after hearing personal things, be carefull what you say in here, you don't want what you reveal to color people's impression of you and your questions. Keep asking questons, God Bless, Tamara |

44 | Is God opens doors no man closes in bibl | Rev 3:20 | Tamara Brewington | 205233
Dear chessshores, This is another Word of Faith teaching that has absolutely no basis in scripture at all. Joyce Meyers and Benny Hinn and other Word of Faith teachers like T.D. Jakes and Paula White use this phrase all the time, but you won't be able to find it in the scripture because it is not there. This is another example of the Word of Faith teachers and preachers taking scripture and twisting it to mean what they say it means taking it out of context away from the author's original intent. Here is an example of how Joyce Meyers and Paula White, for example twist the scriptures to say what they want them to say. They start out with one verse and then misapply it to a next verse making a connection that does not exist. Here is an example; Ephesians 2:12,13 remember that your were at that time separate from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. This is the first thing they try to establish; that we were once strangers to the covenants of promise, but now by the blood of Jesus we have access to the covenants. This is where they start off, with the truth, but then they veer off from where they start and take another scripture that is about covenantal promises made to specific situations and specific groups of people and mis-apply them for today by reinterpreting them to fit their twisted theology. Here is what I mean; Numbers 25:12 Therefore say, 'Behold, I give My covenant of peace; and it shall be for him and his descendants after him a covenant of a perpetual priesthood, because he was jealous for his God and made atonement for the sons of Israel.' The second thing these Word of Faith preachers try to establish is that once a person has been granted access to the covenants of promise that they can access all of the OT convenants. covenants that are not about the covenant of Abraham about faith, but all the other covenants given to Moses, to Noah and the smaller covenants given to individuals, as the covenants given to Israel and persons in Israel. This is a specific covenant promised to a specific person, Phinehas the son of Eleazar, made by God, and it does not apply to all peoples at all times that they shall receive this specfic peace offered to one priest who made atonement for the sins of Israel. more to come, Tamara |

45 | what kind of Bible reading qualifies? | Proverbs | Tamara Brewington | 205232
Dear chessshores, I respect that you are from another culture, so are others here, we are all from slightly different cultures even those of us from the USA in here are not all from the same exact culture or church denominations. I think you are doing just fine my dear in following the guide lines. You are including scripture, you are either posting a note to something that interested you, or you are asking a question as best you can in language that is not your first language, and you think from a different point of view coming from a different culture and heritage. I have had friends from many different cultures and from different countries and understand that it can be difficult to understand what people see things like who are different than I am. I myself am of mixed heritage, culture and background and my family is slightly mixed up. I love knowing people who are different than I am, its a big big world, and a big big body of Christ. I have Pentacostal friends, which you would not have guessed from my posts back to you, I have a Catholic friend from childhood, which you would not have guessed from my posts, and I have unbelievers for friends that you would not have guessed from my posts to you. I had the priveledge of teaching jewelers from Japan, South America, and a deaf person how to make jewelry without any of us speaking the same language. We resorted to a kind of made up sign language for one year and tried to understand one another to do things together on the job. At the end of one year, with the exception of the deaf man, they all were able to speak a form of English enough to communicate differently. I think, folks from different religious cultures have something higher in common by which they can communicate, the Bible, and this can cross cultures and backgrounds and heritages, and bring us together as one. I think that according to the type of questions you will ask and the texts from the Bible you will pick folks in here will slowly get to know you. And if you remain open to correction sometimes and being taught something scripturaly sound by those who have been around in the Lord for a while in here, you might really grow in your walk with Christ. The Treasury of Scripture Knowledge is not a Bible I am familiar with, I will have to get familiar with it. From the sounds of it, it encouraged you a great deal. I would like to know, how that Bible works. Is it that this Bible has verses in the referrence column that refer back to the orginal verses? Or is it that this Bible has verses right alongside the text in the margins? Or is it that this Bible has verses right in the text after the original verse, another verse from another part of the Bible following the original? James 4:3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. This is not about negligence, or sloppiness, or deliberat cheating. It is about verses 1 and 2 which say that people are quarreling and having conflicts with one another and that this is the source of their lustful desires for things causing wrong conduct. This is about the lust for things that one does not have that are causing one to commit murder to get something and to be envious of others and fight with them to get things and that one does not get things because one has not asked the with the right motive asking the right way to God. Verse 3 goes on in the same theme that because one has the wrong motive one does not receive because the motive is to spend the answer to the prayer on selfish pleasures. As you can see that is not negligence, or sloppiness, or deliberate cheatting, it is about selfishness, asking for things for the wrong reasons, harming others in order to get things, and is about doing things the wrong way being a source of the mind and actions of the flesh which wage war against the spirit. Keep asking questions my dear. By His Grace, Tamara |

46 | what is a sheep in john 10:1-16 | John 10:1 | Tamara Brewington | 205229
Dear Carrina, Welcome to the forum! Jesus was calling believers in Jesus sheep dear heart... The verses you are asking about are all about Jesus being the only way into belief in God in verse 1. And the warning is about a thief and robber who is seeking to steal the believers from God. Verse 2 is about Jesus being able to enter by the will of God to where the believers are and being their leader. Verse 3 is about God who is the door keeper opening the way for Jesus to come and call the believers each by name and lead them out of sin. Verse 4 is about Jesus showing the way out from sin and going ahead of the sheep in order to lead them to God. Verse 5 is about that those who believe not being able to follow a stranger to God because they will not recgonize his voice. Verse 6 is about Jesus talking in parables because the Pharisees who had rejected Jesus would be unable to understand what He said and be saved. Verse 7 is about Jesus saying He is the way to God for those who would believe. Verse 8 is about the ones who came before Jesus came to steal the believers, but the believers did not listen to them. Verse 9 is about Jesus being the only way to God and if any believe in Him they will be saved. Verse 10 is about the thief of the believer coming to kill and destroy the believer, and Jesus coming to give eternal life. Verse 11 is about Jesus being the good leader and dying for His followers. Verse 12 is about those who are leading believers for money not being the owner of the believers who sees Satan coming and leaves the believers and runs and then Satan steals the believers and scatters them away from Jesus. Verse 13 is about the one who was in it for the money running away because he never cared about the believers. Verse 14 is about Jesus being the good leader and that He knows His believers and His believers know Him. Verse 15 is about that just as God knows Jesus and Jesus knows God, Jesus dies for the believers. Verse 16 is about Jesus having other believers besides the Jews and that He must bring them to God as well as the Jews, and they will listen to Jesus and become one body of believers with one leader. Hope this helps, keep asking questions, God Bless, Tamara |

47 | Jesus symbolism in parable, how else | Proverbs | Tamara Brewington | 205217
Dear chessshores, See verse 11 where it makes clear why Jesus was saying the whole thing in the first place? Jesus was talking about the whole matter of being good stewardsof money in order to make far more important ont about being entrusted as good stewards of the true righes... The riches that you are to accumulate as part of your reward in heaven, as Jesus says elsewhere, store up for yourselves treasure in heaven. You have to get the context of these passages about money correct in the parables to understand why Jesus was saying what he was saying in the first place. God's day to you, Tamara |

49 | churches here predominantly Charismatic | 2 Tim 2:15 | Tamara Brewington | 205194
Dear chessshores, I understand your explanation of what kind os churches are prevelant in your country... Joyce Meyers is closely aligned with the Word of Faith teachers. She teaches that you take the word of God and release the promises of God into your life by the level of your faith in God and that you receive rhemas from God to direct you what God wants you to do. She does teach that you must line up your life to reflect the word of God or you will not be able to release the promises of God into your life. However, God makes promises based off His own Holy and sovereign will and it is not necessary for men to take the action of having strong enough faith before God will choose to act, which is what Joyce Meyer teaches. One of the worst teachings in Word of Faith movements is that God will not act until you do, that is not scripturally supportable at all. You have to twist the scriptures to get that. Joyce Meyer teaches folks to get control over their circumstances by lining their lives up to the word of God, no problem, but then she says God will not act on your behalf until you do, her exact words. Benny Hin has been debunked by many who left his minstry as a complete and utter fraud. I have seen Benny Him literally push people down to the ground because they did not get slain in the spirit when he went to touch their foreheads. There are true reports that those who thought they were healed by Benny Him have gone to the doctor and been told they are not at all healed. Benny Hin has a whole lot of money and many holdings and possessions gotten from the middle class and poor from all over the world who think that this false prophet is a sainted man offering healing and freedom from demons and he rarely offers salvation to the lost. The Amplified Bible is not a literal translation of the Bible and adds many words to the Greek and Hebrew that are not there changing the fundamental meaning of the texts. The Charismatic movement has indeed made and spread a great deal of money through out the world, their traditions and attempts to use charismatic gifts do not make them Bible based, the proper intrepretation of the Bible does and a proper application of it does. Just because a church is very large and practices being slain in the spirit with great care does not make that practice Biblical at all, it just makes it tradition. If the good Bishop meant that all Christians have gifts from the Holy Spirit and are therefore Charismatic he was correct, if he meant that all Christians are Charismatic because they all could speak in tongues if they but would he was wrong. The Charismatic movement has gone world wide, that does not mean it lines up with what the Bible teaches about gifts and the use of gifts. My web browser is on the fritz, so I am unable to give you a proper web site, sorry for that I pray someone else will attend to this. Charismatics traditionally through out the world have honored others in both helping the poor and in working in concert with those of other views and denominations to partner with them in reaching people. Evangelicals do not always partner to evangelize or help the poor or church plant with those whose views and beliefs they do not agree with because that is being unequally yoked in minsitry which the Bible teaches against. God's day to you, Tamara |

50 | Biblical women who wrote songs | 1 Chr 25:1 | Tamara Brewington | 205183
Dear aceve, The answer is no women including Miriam are said to have composed songs, only the men. Exodus 15:21 Mirian answered to them, sing to the Lord, for He is highly exalted; the horse and his rider He has hurled into the sea. Miriam did not write any song, Miriam was a prophetess and she was telling the women to sing the song of Moses most likely. The text said that she told them to sing a song, she is telling the women to sing, not composing a song. God's day to you, Tamara God's day to you, Tamara |

51 | kiv Grt Commission of JC, how we see it | OT general | Tamara Brewington | 205180
Dear chessshores, Your question was; q: can we assume from this passage that the "spirit/essence of Prophecy, the Testimony of Jesus" (New Testament)is poured out by our Active Living Jehovah since the invisible things are clearly discerned (apostolic epistle) to every unbeliever through the glory of creation, the tell-it-all? The passage you cited from Proverbs has nothing what so ever to do with the spirit and essence of prophecy, the testimony of Jesus Christ. Proverbs were words of wisdom written by Solomon to guide the wise mand and to rebuke the foolish. Proverbs is prose language, not prophcy of any kind about any one. The gospels descrbing the spirit essence of prophecy, the testimony of Jesus as you like to call it, what ever that means to you, I am not sure, are full of 350 fulfilled prophecy, but this is not one of them. I am looking closely at your passage and do not find the words, the invisible things are clearly discerned, any where in the two passages you cite. Do you have another passage in Proverbs in mind here? You have included here an allussion to invisible things being cleary discerned to every unbeliever through the glory of creation, the tell it all, this was a revelation of God given to men which they rejected, but you are linking it to another type of revelation, Jesus Christ... Do you mean that the revelation of Jesus Christ was poured out by God after every unbeliever rejected the revelation of the creation by God, and that this is a result of a prophecy from Proverbs coming true? The first part of that is true, but that it was a prophecy from Proverbs is not. Take your time, craft your questions in parts if need be, you can have one scripture and several questions at once, it is all right to do. Where you go to write a question it will be suggeted to you to pick a verse first. Up top there are two boxes and you type in there your verse or book in question. The page will flip to a new page where you will then write your question. God's day to you, Tamara |

52 | clarify ground rules, q incl midway | 2 Tim 2:15 | Tamara Brewington | 205176
Dear chessshores, You may use up to 5,000 characters per post, not 5,000 words, that is letters and punctuation, not words. Many users on the forum prefer brevity for the questions in order to leave visible page space for other unanswered and answered questions to appear to the naked eye on each of those pages. The guidelines for the forum say a number of things, and on of them is to avoid brevity as it leads to confusion. If you will notice, when you go to write a question, there is a message there telling you to include all the details of your question before posting it. There are going to be instances where the question will warrant an answer that include exegesis of the passage, or passages in question and my require that, in order for you to give an exegetical reply, that you cut and paste part of your answer into a next second reply, regardless of how carefully you write it or how clear it may be. Charismatic teachings largely have their basis in a theology that is not properly supported by a thorough exegesis of all of the passages on pneumatic infusion of believers in Acts. The subject of the gifts of tongues and prophecy have been discussed several times on the forum. Each time evidence was submitted by various members showing that the way in which these gifts are now being used and taught about is not necessarily supported by a thorough exegesis of Acts. The guidelines here require that we all sign up agreeing to adhere to a literal intrepretation of the Bible. When some scriptures are taken out of context and used to support a supposed Christian practice like the practices of some Charismatic churches, it will be addressed exegetically, theologically, doctrinally, and if it is found to be without support a continued pursuance of defending it will result in action on the part of the Lockman Foundation to make it come to screaching halt as a breaking of the guidelines has repeatedly occured. Simply typing in the words I am a Charismatic would not result in being ousted from the forum, but repeated refutation of sound doctrine based on sound exegesis would. Perhaps the words I am a Charismatic, was the revealing cap on a long chain of notes going back and forth on a subject and sound exhortation was not heeded over and over again. The Charismatics have some sound practices like extended and active praise and worship. They may have some other practices like falling out by falling backward; being slain in the spirit, which have absolutely no scriptual basis. They may have some other practices like the speaking of tongues being the only and first evidence that a person has received the holy spirit that, with a thorough exegesis of Acts, it will be seen that that practice happened to usher in 4 groups of folks into the kingdom of God and as well, that not all time in Acts did they speak in tongues as evidence that they had received the Holy Spirit, knocking that theory down. As well there are other passages which speak about receiving the Holy Spirit that say each does not have the same gift, also knocking that theory down. There is the Charismatic concept that one needs to be baptized by the Holy Spirt after accepting Christ, where scripture teaches that we receive the Holy Spirt at the moment of belief. Again there were 4 groups of folks who were being ushered into the body of Christ; the Jews, the Samaritans, the Gentiles and those who had the repentance and baptism of John. These groups all without exception received the Holy Spirit only when the Apostles and only the Apostles either laid hands on them, or preached to them. After these 4 groups were ushered into the kingdom of God every one that believed got the Holy Spirit right away, as it states in Ephesians 1:13. There is the practice of prophesying for which there is some scriptural support for still being around, but which has been grossly abused and is largely seen as either a dead gift, or a misused gift. Following Christ's golden rules will not ensure particaption here although it is proper. Following the many guide lines in here will. If you are really a more mature Christian than your friends who got banned from the forum, just follow the guide lines, practice grace and you should be just fine. Welcome to the forum! God's day to you, Tamara |

53 | Just out of curiosity. | Phil 1:23 | Tamara Brewington | 205113
Dear Lionheart, Quote from Millard J. Erickson, Introduction to Theology, pg. 378, par. 2; "One veiw which over the years has had considerable popularity is termed, "soul sleep". This is the idea that the soul, during the period between death and resurrection, reposes in a state of unconcsiousness. In the sixteenth century, many Anabaptists and Socinians apprently subscribed to this veiw. A similar position is taken today by the Seventh Day Adventists. In the case of Adventists, however, the phrase "soul sleep" is some what misleading. Hoekema suggests instead "soul extinction," in the Adventist view one does not fall asleep at death, but actually becomes completely nonexistent, nothing surviving." This then is an invention of the Anabaptists and Socinian in the sixteenth century that purported that the soul actually sleeps as a function of a bipartite (division of man as soul and body) entity, where the body disintegrates and the soul goes to sleep on some spiritual plane. This veiw got adopted and changed by the Jehovah's Witnesses, as that man is one entity without two parts, and that man's one essence being his mind and body, cease to exist at death altogether. The soul is not actually sleeping, it is gone with the mind that disentegrated. In this view of soul sleep God is so powerfull that He will raise everything that disintegrated from the dead. This veiw got adopted by the Seventh Day Adventists, who believe that the soul and body are two parts together and that the body disentegrates, but that the soul actually sleeps. God is so powerfull that He will wake the souls from the dead and reunite them to their bodies which God is so powerfull to reunite from disintegration. This view got adopted and changed by the Mormons and they believe that the body disintegrates and that the soul goes to sleep, then only the soul will be raised from the dead and receive a new spiritual body to replace the old flesh and that in this process a person becomes a god, just like Jesus and God were once men and died and received new spiritual eternal god bodies before us. God's day to you, Tamara God's Day to you, Tamara |

54 | Spices and the Sabbath | Luke 1:2 | Tamara Brewington | 205112
Dear Jim, We have a clue about why these accounts are different in Luke 1:2,3; just as they were handed down to us by those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word, it seemed fitting for me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in consectutive order, most excellent Theophilus. Luke interveiwed the apostles and the disciples to get a consectutive order for his account. Mark however may have had sources as well, as he was not one of the twelve. What we can conclude from this is that the women came with spices. We can also conclude that when people tell stories they tell them from a different point of view from one another and the different sources told their stories from these viewpoints that may not coincide from account to account in the minutia of the details, but agree on the substance. I myself have posted similar questions about the end of the four gospels and am laughing to myself that I missed this nugget about the spice! Bravo! The accounts cannot be reconciled in their particulars but can in their substance and that is how you reconcile an account like this one. The Bible is indeed the innerrant word of God and contains some discrepancies at points, but not at any major points and not doctrinally ever. Exegesis can only take you as far as the constraints of the text will allow, the rest is a true mystery of God. I would not say that such forays are fruitless, or meaningless, all of scripture is profitable and God breathed. Here is for you; II Timothy 2:15 Be ready to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handing the word of truth. By His Grace, Tamara |

55 | the power of our words | 1 Cor 4:20 | Tamara Brewington | 205073
Dear Kiarafuentes, I want you to consider this verse; I Corinthians 4:20 For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power. The revelation of Christ to man is given to us in words and the word of God is as powerful as a two edged sword dividing the joints and marrow. The word has the power to save and bring you into the kingdom of God, but that is done by the working of the Holy Spirit. But the kingdom itself consits not of words, but of power. The power of God Himself, the Holy Spirit power to enact God's word, the words do not hold the power by themselves. The words hold the power by the Spirit of the Almighty God who enacts them by His Holy and miraculous power. Contrary to popular Word of Faith teachers who abound on radio and tv, the Bible does not teach that the power of God resides in your tongue. This is a false doctrine that states that when you speak out loud the word of God, you are empowering God to act according to the measure of your faith. What you are asking falls into this camp of Word of Faith teachings. This teaching you are asking about states that scripture supposedly states that whoever we bless will be blessed and whoever we curse they will be cursed. This is based on a twisting of the scriptures. I am going to ask you, which scripture do you have that actaully says that you are to be careful because who ever you bless will be blessed, and whoever you curse will be cursed? I couldn't find it, perhaps you could enlighten me? None of the scriptures you gave come any where near saying what you claim you have read in scripture... The power of God is to curse and to bless, not man's power, God's. Speaking God's truth out of your mouth does not unleash the power of God into your life, or anyone elses life. God is not kept from acting until you speak of His power and unleash it, that is a false Word of Faith doctrine. The idea that you could bless or curse is to usurp the power of God and is a false doctrine. The idea that we need to be careful of what we say because of unbelievers is correct, there are plenty of scriptures to uphold that! Genesis 12:3a And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. God has the power to curse and to bless, not man. God's day to you, Tamara |

56 | Does God want us to belong to one church | Bible general Archive 4 | Tamara Brewington | 205063
Dear Jesus Keep Me, Welcome to the forum! We have a couple in our church who were both believers but were in different churches. The wife wanted to be in a place where sound Biblical preaching and teaching was going on, the husband was serving as a deacon at the other churh which had many programs and a lot of evangelism. He eventaully left that church because the teaching and preaching was not sound Biblically and came to our little church and serves on our deacon board. The Lord blessed them while they served in different churches in their marriage, but now He is blessing them even more since they are serving together. Word of caution, if your husband is perhaps not saved, then it might be better to go with him to the church he chose in order to follow his leadership. As long as it is a sound Bible believing church you should respect your husband, revere your husband, follow your husband as unto Christ. Your behavior in doing this in all things will help to win him over to Christ all the way as he observes your behavior. We should remember that the husband and wife are one flesh, one person, not two people in one marriage, but one person in one marriage, as Christ is with the church. I believe God would be more pleased to see that the two of you act as one. God's Day to you, Tamara |

57 | Why did Jesus not want the evil spirits | Bible general Archive 4 | Tamara Brewington | 204969
Dear SBG, Welcome to the forum! I think John makes an excellent point there that it is impossible to say directly from scripture why Jesus kept on saying to various parties not to tell that He was the Son of God, the Christ, the Son of Man. We may have a clue though in one of the scriptures John gave you; Luke 9:21,22 But He warned them and instructed them not to tell this to anyone, saying, The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the cheif priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised up on the third day. Jesus says the two things together at one time which has led many commentators to see each other instance of Jesus saying this; to the demons who kept saying it, to those He healed, to the disciples, because He did not want His opponents given cause to seek His death too early in the game. His opponents were already seeking to kill Him because of healing on the Sabbath and His claims to deity and for the people to start going around and spreading the news that He was God, the Christ, the Son of God would have incited those who were against Him to act before the appointed time for Him to go to the cross by hastening the process along too soon. Just a thought... God Bless, Tamara |

59 | An interesting discussion/question | Romans | Tamara Brewington | 204925
continuation Adults and children who are old enough to know they have sinned are another matter altogether. Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, becasue that which is known about God is evident within them; for God has made ir evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For though they knew God, they did not honor Him or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and theri foolish heart was darkened. This is called General Revelation. God made His power, His divine nature known to all men who have never even heard the gospel through what He has created. The entire universe, the stars the moon, the earth, the creatures are so wonderfully and awesomely made that man is able to see what God has made an internally know that there is a God who deserves worship. Man can look inside himself at how intelligently and wonderfully he has been made and functions and understand that there is a God who made him because God has made it envident. But men have decided to ignore the truth that they know there is a God and refuse to worship Him or give Him thanks. Every single culture that ever was worships soemthing because they know that there is a God. But because they are full of sin, they pervert that knowledge and worship gods, idols, self, things, creatures in every single culture, from the bush to civilizations to the jungle they all end up worshipping a false god and refuse to simply look into the sky and the jungle and the bush to see that there is one Holy God who made it all and worship Him instead. We are not talking about Jesus now we are talking about creation itself pointing to God. Where the light of General Revelation is, all men get to see God. And by that light God judges them by their response to that light. In every culture that failed miserably which is why the Bible says non may come to the Father but through Jesus. Special Revelation was first given to men before the fall and Adam and Eve rejected it. Special Revelation is all of the particular manifestations of God to particular men at particular times in the history of man. Adam first had miraculous experiences with God, they walked in the gardedn together and talked out lout together. Adam fell and that was no more between them. Then came all the patriarchs who had special miracles happen proving to them that God was there. Then the times of the Law and the Prophets and God kept on showing up doing miraculous wonders shwoing He was there. Then comes the most Special Revelation; Jesus Christ the Revelation of God, then comes the last Special Revelation - the God breathed word of the living God. It is only by this light that men will be able to come to God and be reconciled. God has justice - he requires payment in death and blood for sin, nobody deserves to live or go to heaven, no one at all. God has mercy - He chooses some out of every person who ever lived, who all run away from Him and head long towards hell - to be saved. This is predestination. God has perfect knowledge, and power and is every where, in the past present and future, He knows how His plan to save some will come to pass - this is foreknowledge. God has perfect justice, He chooses some to save by turning them around from their desire to remain sinners, and leaves the rest to freely choose to follow the road to hell because they rejected Him by whatever light they were given- this is election. Romans 8:28-30 Psalm 107:35 Let sinners be consumed from the earth and let the wicked be no more. Bless the Lord oh my soul. Praise the Lord! The Bible teaches that there is no such thing as people who do not know that God exist whether ever hear the gospel or not. They are held responsible by God according to the light they have been given. God is not obligated to save even one person and His justice in condemning all men is Holy. God chooses to save some out of every one as all have already rejected Him and are going to hell because God is merciful and His mercy is Holy. God saves the babies, the unborn, the young children all those who are not aware that they are sinning because they are not capable of understanding any light that He could give them, God is just and mercifull and Holy. God Bless Tamara |

Dear ChildofGod, II Samuel 12 In this passage David repents of what he did kiling Uriah and the Lord says that He will visit evil on the house of David and kill David's child. David got ver sick when the Lord struck his child and would not eat and he fasted and lay on the ground all night. On the seventh day the child died and the servants went to tell David and were afraid that David would do himself harm because he had been so distraught. But when David saw that his servants were whispering together, David perceived that the child was dead; so David said to his servants, "is the child dead?" And they answered, "he is dead". So David arose from the ground anointed himself, and changed his clothes; and he came into the house of the Lord and worshipped. Then he came to his own house, and when he requested, they set food before him and he ate. Then his servants said to him, "what is this thing that you have done?" "While the child was alive, you fasted and wept; but when the child died, you arose and ate food." He said, "while the child was still alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, who knows, the Lord may be gracious to me, that the child may live. But now he has died; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him and he will return to me." Do you see that last verse? I will go to him and he will return to me? David is referring to seeing this child in the in heaven after David dies, as this is the only way he could see the child again, and receiving back his child in the life here after. We know this is so becasue we know David went to heaven when he died, so then the child would also have to be in heaven. Think about it a while, it will sink in. This is an allusion in scripture to what will happen to children, babies, unborn, anyone who has not reached the age of accountability would fall under the scope of this scripture. God does not hold a person responsibile to anything but the light He has given them to see His two Revelations of Himself by. Children are not able to grasp and be responsible for the two Revelations God has given because they don't have a concsiousness of having sinned before a certain age that varries from child to child. more to come |
