41 | What is this way | 1 Pet 2:20 | Mommapbs | 147754
Greetings, the "four-fold way": wisdom, stature, favor with God, and favor with man, are perhaps what you are thinking about here. If this is how Jesus grew, and God is in the process of transforming us into His likeness, (Rom 12:2; 2 Cor 3:18)we too should see evidence of this happening in our lives too. As I consider this verse, I find that I am focusing on the word "favor." charis; a prim. word; grace, kindness:--blessing(1), concession(1), credit(3), favor(11), gift(1), grace(122), gracious(2), gracious work(3), gratitude(1), thank(3), thankfulness(2), thanks(6). Please note the reference in 1 Peter 2:20 of what brings "favor" with God. How do you think Jesus grew in "favor with men?" How do we grow in favor with men? (the aroma of Christ comes to mind here 2 Cor 2:14) The idea of "grew" or increase is to progress. I suspect that His wisdom and stature or maturity might be the understanding of the human predicament He found Himself in. Heb 2:14-18; 4:15-16. How do we grow in wisdom or understanding (James 1:5) and maturity? (see Heb 5:11-14) Blessings, mommapbs |

Greetings - I'm not quite sure what you are asking. Are you asking permission for something here? This is a Bible Study Forum - we search out God's Word for answers. Please be very specific with your question - it seems to me that you may be asking is it alright to enter the rapids just above the Falls? What do you think? Blessings, mommapbs |

44 | can you explain what means | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 145195
Greetings! I see that you have been registered with the Forum for several years and yet you haven't told us anything about yourself! How about doing so under Resources on the left column (see Update user info)? I would direct you to the notes already written on these verses. Re-post if you need some additional clarification or have other questions. What I would wonder is can one without the Spirit testify of Jesus? What do you think? Blessings, mommapbs PS: The disciples had been with Jesus from the beginning of His earthly ministry. Who has been with Him from the beginning? |

46 | What does heaven look like? | 1 Cor 2:9 | Mommapbs | 145189
Aixen7z4 sent this to me, but I believe he intended it for you. I hope you are encouraged by his wise counsel. "Heaven is where God is". Yes! John heard a great voice out of heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God". We usesd to sing, "Where Jesus is, 'tis heaven there" and it seems appropriate, because he said, "I go and prepare a place for you, (and) I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also". Whereas some say that hell is here, we may counter that heaven is here as well, because Jesus is with us, and in us. See Luke 17:21. I trust those who read this are his and that you find a heaven in his presence, as in Psalm 16:11, for in his presence is fulness of joy; at his right hand there are pleasures for evermore. We may describe heaven by listing what and who will be there, primarily Jesus. We may aslo describe it by listing what and who will not be there: No sin, no sorrow, no pain, no death; but primarily, no devil. Amen. Aixen7z4 |

47 | Is BeDuhn correct on John 8:58? | John 8:58 | Mommapbs | 145165
Greetings Tim - recently I have been thinking about this familiar quote: "I think, therefore I am" - which I completely disagreee with. I believe we should claim, I AM, therefore I think. (Apart from Me you can do nothing - we cannot even exist! Ps 139) I agree with your assessment of 'ego eimi' in the context of John 8. The Diety of Jesus Christ is the issue here. Everything is of God, by God and for God. We would do well to keep Him as God in all things. Blessings, mommapbs |

48 | did both mary's wash jesus' feet | Luke 7:37 | Mommapbs | 145162
Greetings - Although the woman in Luke is not identified, most people assume that she was Mary Magdalene - it really makes no difference who she is - she represents us all! I would ask you to think about the motive behind this annointing and the annointing of Mary, the sister of Lazarus in John 12:3 - both are important! Blessings, mommapbs |

49 | living togeather out of wedlock | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 145159
Greetings and welcome - while you and I and many other folks may read God's Word and discover that He warns us to abstain from sex outside of marriage (fornication), yet until the individuals who are involved recongize that this is rebellion against God, there is really nothing you can do. The Holy Spirit does the convicting; He does not need any help. My best advice is for you to pray without ceasing for this couple, that God would open their eyes to the reality of their living situation in HIS eyes and that they would desire to honor Him in their relaitonship with one another. You can be a supportive friend and encourage them to see for themself what God's Word has to say. I would direct you to the instance of adultery in 2 Sam 11 - God's Word is very clear about the sin of sex outside of marraige - remember that our relationship to God is described in marital terms. We are the "Bride" of Christ - and yet how often does He find us "sleeping with the devil?" Sober thoughts here! Blessings, mommapbs |

50 | what is jesus saying to mankind ? | John 16:12 | Mommapbs | 145156
Greetings, I suspect that the things that Jesus had to say required the indwelling Spirit to reveal them to His disciples - and at this point the Holy Spirit had not been given! Read the next verse here! The things of God are spiritually discerned, the man without the Spirit cannot understand them - see 1 Cor 2. Blessings, mommapbs |

51 | What does heaven look like? | 1 Cor 2:9 | Mommapbs | 145155
Greetings! While some Scriptures refer to certian things that we will find in Heaven and the City of God is described in Revelation, I am convinced that there is not a word in any language that could do justice to describe what heaven will be like for those who love God! Blessings, mommapbs |

52 | Is God against interacial marriage? | 2 Cor 6:14 | Mommapbs | 145153
Greetings RubyAnn! Kalos offered this post in a previous question about marriage. I don't think that God had in mind interracial marrige here - for there is no distinction between pepoles with Him other than some are saved sinners and some are lost sinners! "Can people who follow the Lord have anything in common with those who don't?" 2 Corinthians 6:14-15 The Message (MSG) 2 Corinthians 6 14 Don't become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That's not partnership; that's war. Is light best friends with dark? 15 Does Christ go strolling with the Devil? Do trust and mistrust hold hands? Contemporary English Version (CEV) 2 Corinthians 6 14 Stay away from people who are not followers of the Lord! Can someone who is good get along with someone who is evil? Are light and darkness the same? 15 Is Christ a friend of Satan? Can people who follow the Lord have anything in common with those who don't? New Living Translation (NLT) 2 Corinthians 6 14 Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can goodness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? 15 What harmony can there be between Christ and the Devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? mommapbs continues: This principle was in effect in the Old Testament as well as Israel was warned not to intermarry with those outside of Israel or non-believers. 53 | Elisabeth's relation to Mary | Matt 24:35 | Mommapbs | 144975
Dear one: At first glance I might be inclined to tell you to write a disclaimer in your novel (for it must be a work of fiction, right?). Without the Truth, you might as well have authored "The DaVinci Code!" But you did ask: "How important a factor is it in the huge scheme of things?" I take this to mean that you want to make God's Word say something that YOU want it to say. IMO, THIS is huge. (I suspect we are all guilty of this at times.) Where God's Word is not clear about a "fact", don't try to make it so. (Rev 22:18) Remember it is HIS story, not yours. Always seek HIS way! Blessings, mommapbs PS: IMO, what is "crucial to your story" is that you run it by THE AUTHOR of us all first! He has called us to be His witnesses, not His editors. Have you sought HIS answer in prayer yet? If not, run it by Him first - remember we are but fallible forumites! |

54 | capacity of water pitcher gen. 24:15 | Gen 24:15 | Mommapbs | 144899
Greetings. Th Bible does not tell us the capacity of the jar, only that it was used to hold water. In this particular verse, the jar was empty. I suspect there is much more to consider here than at first reading though. An empty jar, a full jar; a request for a drink - the revelation of a promised bride . . . reminds me of Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman. Blessings, mommapbs |

55 | Whose diobedience? | Rom 11:30 | Mommapbs | 143939
Greetings seedling - Paul is addressing believers here - (in their former unbelief - or rejection of God) they were disobedient and were shown mercy because of Israel's disobedience (rejection of God). The previous verses attest to this - Gentile nations are the wild olive branch that has been grafted in - the branches that have been broken off reference unbelieving Israel. See also Romans 9:25 The good news is that Israel will one day be grafted back in as promised in v 31 - God's response to us - showing us mercy in our disobedience will be the example to Israel. Our God is awesome - His mercy is beyond compare! mommapbs |

56 | Cite Scripture "He's always behind you" | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 143777
Greetings Searcher - I suspect that this sungoddess perhaps has gone to sleep at the switch, but I would like to give you a verse that has brought some comfort to me: "You have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.Ps 139:5 I believe I have told this story before on the Forum, but it is worth telling again. A dear mentor related how to appreciate those times of darkness that come into our lives. Imagine you are holding a Fabrege Egg - it is a priceless possession - you see a dangerous stretch of road ahead. What would you do? Cover the egg you are holding with your other hand. What is it like inside your hands? Dark. So when we are "in the darkness" know that God has "hedged you in" (Job 3:23) - He is protecting you and inviting you to trust Him in this. We have been told that "without faith it is impossible to please God" (Heb 11:6), perhaps we might see these dark periods as opportunities to do just that - trust Him, and therefore please Him! Blessings, mommapbs |

58 | Omit or not?To raise up the Messiah? | Acts 2:30 | Mommapbs | 143323
Greetings Ray - you always stimulate me! Thanks. Is it redundant - to raise up the Messiah - and the resurrection of the Christ (Messiah)? Perhaps they were sensitive to their audience. As Jews, they knew that the issue of the resurrection vs no resurrection was divisive. A quick question: what were Jesus' last words? (Careful here!) Perhaps they were discussing this "power" He promised - yet the evidence of such is seen in verse 37. Apart from the Spirit, could these Jews have received the message Pater delivered, especially considering that there were most likely those who did not believe in the resurrection? What God promised, He does. David, recognized as a prophet of God declared what God had shown Him and the people had a choice to believe that God would do as He said. Now, Petere is declaring that the promise was fulfilled - Christ was raised - do they accept this and continue to believe God? From this passage we see that many Jews did - could anything but the power of God be at work here to change men's minds and hearts? Might we be mindful to pray for the nation of Israel, that God would open the eyes of His people, the people of the Book, to see Messaih as He IS!! Just some thoughts, blessings to you Ray, keep that pencil sharp!! mommapbs |

59 | Speak from the midst of the fire to you? | Acts 9:4 | Mommapbs | 142198
Searcher - There is a recently released video that identifies the real Mt Sinai in Saudia Arabia. The authors filmed the area and found compelling evidence that is supported by Scripture to identify it as such. Did you know that the top of Mt Sinai where God spoke to Moses is scorched to this day? Analysis of the blackened rocks reveals that they were subject to intense heat. So, it would seem to indicate that when God spoke to Moses, the people indeed saw "fire" on the mountain. Yet another consideration for "from the midst of the fire" might be from Eze 28:14,16. But then this is not the point of the discussion here . . . Where in God's Word does it say that He does not speak to us? John 16:13-14 tells us that God has given us His Holy Spirit; "He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you." Who are we to dictate how the Spirit of the Lord chooses to speak to us? God even speaks to animals - Jonah 2:10. BTW, I hope you don't have a donkey tethered out back! Searcher, just because God has not spoken to you in ways that He has spoken to others should not prompt you to question the validity of their experience. May we all come to say, "Speak Lord, for thy servant heareth." Blessings, mommapbs |

60 | Does anyone still beleive that God talks | Acts 9:4 | Mommapbs | 142131
Greetings, I believe I have posted this before on the Forum: God Speaks: There is a wonderful man of God at our church who works in the children’s ministry as an administrative assistant. He has quite a severe speech impediment. My 12-year-old son happened to be with me one Sunday morning when I was having a conversation with this man. Afterward, my son asked, “Mom, how can you understand him? I could only understand one word!” I thought about this for a moment and then I realized that there was a great lesson to be learned from this “teachable moment.” I replied, “Honey, I’ve worked with him for many years and my ears are accustomed to his manner of speaking, and his speech. I understand him because I listen and want to hear what he says. It has taken time and patience, but I had no problems comprehending what he was saying today.” I thought that this was a good analogy for us to apply to understanding God; to hearing His voice and recognizing His presence with us! God speaks in many different ways. How do we recognize His voice above the din of our daily existence? First, there must be desire. (When you seek me, you will find me!) Secondly, we must spend time in His Word and lastly, we must listen. His voice can be heard; do you hear Him? Often we are so “busy” with trivial pursuits that we forget that God is interested in all aspects of our lives. Those things that we relegate to the “insignificant” category are important to God. Seeing God at work in the little things of our lives reaps great benefits to our faith. All this being said, although it has been my experience to hear the audible voice of God, mostly He speaks to me through His Word into my spirit. I suspect that some fail to be blessed by "hearing" Him because they have decided that God does not speak as He did anyomre . . . Yet who are we to limit God in the way He "can" speak to us? Don’t be disappointed if you have never heard the audible voice of God. God speaks in many different ways. The point of this message is to encourage you: to first recognize His hand and His voice, and then to challenge you to respond in faith and obedience. As a child of God, your Heavenly Father has lots to tell you, lots to teach you and lots He wants you to do for Him. Delight in the Lord and His desires will become your desires! (Ps 37:4) “For I know the plans I have for you . . . plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray . . . You will seek me and find me when you seek me with your whole heart. I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and un-searchable things that you do not know.” Jeremiah 29:11-13; 31:3; 33:3 He rewards those who diligently seek Him! Are you looking for Him? Do you recognize His voice? Are you listening? Blessings, mommapbs |
