41 | A Thought-provoking question | Bible general Archive 3 | BradK | 164145
Hi rashiner, I will assume you've given this question some thought?:-) Would you mind explaining why God would NOT be as Holy and sinless as scripture says He is? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Dear dr... I echo both brother kalos and Hank in their advice. Scripturally, I think Proverbs 5 and 7 speak to your situation directly. In all seriousness, Read them, re-read them, meditate on them and pray about it. I would keep your distance from this lady as it isn't proper to do anything else at this point. Urgently seek the advice and counsel of your Pastor/Elders or other trusted mature Christian. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

43 | 6 Greek terms for time are? | Bible general Archive 3 | BradK | 165531
Hi kennj, You may be referring to the Principle Parts. A verb may have up to six principal parts. In the following list the conventional order is observed: 1st — present tense (from which the imperfect also is formed) 2nd — future tense 3rd — aorist active 4th — perfect active 5th — perfect middle/passive 6th — aorist passive (from which the future passive also is formed) [Chapman, Benjamin. Greek New Testament Insert. 2nd ed., revised. Quakertown, PA: Stylus Publishing, 1994.] I hope this helps, BradK |

44 | Where in scripture is the fall of Satan? | Bible general Archive 3 | BradK | 166063
Dear Dr., Ezekiel 28 is generally given as depicting the "fall of satan". The New Bible Dictionary may be helpful in answering your question: "John tells us that ‘the devil sinned from the beginning’ (1 Jn. 3:8), and the OT references to him bear this out. Most of our information, however, comes from the NT, where the supremely evil being is referred to as Satan or as ‘the devil’ (ho diabolos) indifferently, with Beelzebub (or Beelzeboul, or Beezeboul) also employed on occasion (Mt. 10:25; 12:24, 27). Other expressions, such as ‘the ruler of this world’ (Jn. 14:30) or ‘the prince of the power of the air’ (Eph. 2:2), also occur. He is always depicted as hostile to God, and as working to overthrow the purposes of God. Matthew and Luke tell us that at the beginning of his ministry Jesus had a severe time of testing when Satan tempted him to go about his work in the wrong spirit (Mt. 4; Lk. 4; see also Mk. 1:13). When this period was completed the devil left him ‘until an opportune time’, which implies that the contest was later resumed. This is clear also from the statement that he ‘in every respect has been tempted as we are’ (Heb. 4:15). This conflict is not incidental. The express purpose of the coming of Jesus into the world was ‘to destroy the works of the devil’ (1 Jn. 3:8; cf. Heb. 2:14). Everywhere the NT sees a great conflict between the forces of God and of good, on the one hand, and those of evil led by Satan, on the other. This is not the conception of one writer or another, but is common ground." I hope this helps, BradK |

45 | I don't know what version this quote is | Bible general Archive 3 | BradK | 167661
Dear brice, It is clearly not found in the pages of scripture! It sounds like some hip, street-slang saying. Are you certian it isn't from a neighbor or someone else talking? Maybe the "Street" version of the Bible? In Him, BradK |

46 | What key words in the Greek/Hebrew were | Bible general Archive 3 | BradK | 169182
Hello Learner, For starters, knowing a bit about the grammer is very helpful as this can assist you in identifying the main subject of each sentence and the verbs (showing where the action is). A good grammar source like A.T. Robertson's Word Pictures, Vincent's Word Studies, or Weust can be very helpful in this regard. Additionally, a quality Commentary can help shed light on the passage(s) and specific meaning of key words. Aside from that, your own personal study, giving consideration to prophetic quotations (i.e. Joel 2:28-30) and the placement of Acts within the scope of the entire Bible are key to a solid understanding of the passage. You can't isolate Acts 2 from the rest of scripture in trying to understand it. May God guide you and bless you as you seek understanding:-) BradK |

47 | differences | Bible general Archive 3 | BradK | 170682
Hi hic, There are Orthodox systems of interpretation that are sound. Two of the groups of people you listed, Rabbi (Jew) and Mormon (Cult) would obviously vary in their interpretation(s) because they are not considered Christian. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

48 | diff | Bible general Archive 3 | BradK | 170714
Hi hic, Please don't hear what I didn't say! I'm not at all implying that the interpretation of God's Word differs, regardless of whether one is a Christian or not. The Word has only one correct interpretation though many applications. What I'm saying is that one's affiliation, i.e. Mormon, etc. will drive their interpretation of it. That does not make it correct. I hope that clears up things a bit. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

49 | why do the people put down the jews | Bible general Archive 3 | BradK | 173003
Hi Phyliss, I believe the OT speaks to the discipline to be received by Israel for her disobedience in Lev. 26:14-17ff, and Deut. 28:15, 33, etc. Also, Christ predicted in Matt. 10:22 that, "You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved." 51 | U.S.A. the Babylon of Revelations 18? | Bible general Archive 3 | BradK | 175654
Hello babalonman, It sounds like a loaded question?! But...No, I do not believe that the U.S.A. is the babylon of Rev. 18! I see absolutely no scriptural (or historical) support for that view. It would only be speculation at best:-) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

54 | why should we pray and speak in tongues | Bible general Archive 3 | BradK | 183410
Hello ahmari, I would agree with Doc in his response and the logic he employs! Your question is more of a leading one in nature as you are making an assumption:-) I see no direct command in scripture for any or all believers to "speak in tongues". In fact Paul quite clearly states in 1 Cor. 12:30 , that "All do not speak with tongues, do they?" However, we do see Paul beseeching the believer to: 1. "With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints," (Eph. 6:20 NASB); 2."Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;" (Col. 4:2 NASB); 3."pray without ceasing," ( 1 Thes. 5:17 NASB) These are but 3 examples of prayer given in the NT regarding prayer. It is with certainty that we are to pray. It would be questionable that we are to speak in tongues! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

55 | Calvin or Armini | Bible general Archive 3 | BradK | 186715
Hello God's elect, Despite the tone of your question, your name seems to imply being a Calvinist:-) Here are some insights on the matter from C.H. Spurgeon- "The Ethiopian eunuch might have received divine illumination, and doubtless did receive it, but still, when asked whether he understood the Scripture which he read, he replied, “How can I unless some man shall guide me?” The guiding man is needed still. Divines who have studied the Scriptures have left us great stores of holy thought which we do well to use. Their expositions can never be a substitute for our own meditations, but as water poured down a dry pump often sets it to work to bring up water of its own, so suggestive reading sets the mind in motion on its own account." "It seems odd, that certain men who talk so much of what the Holy Spirit reveals to themselves, should think so little of what he has revealed to others." Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

56 | once saved always saved | Bible general Archive 3 | BradK | 188192
Hello eric, Based upon your statement, I'd presume that once saved, always saved is not true! However, I'm not sure what you mean by you "denounced the holy spirit,"? Could you clarify? You sound uncertain. Additionally, how does one "used to be saved"? Upon what scriptural basis? Heb 7:25 plainly states: "Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them." Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

57 | "health and wealth..." | Bible general Archive 3 | BradK | 192644
Hi RicM, You are more than welcome to use the "search" box to view the discussion on WOF teaching! The major problem with these WOF types is simply this: THEY ARE NOT ORTHODOX IN THEIR DOCTRINE! Theirs' is a God that is not truly sovereign but exists only to serve His creation and life here on earth more pleasurable, etc. The "health and wealth" gospel is more a recent invention (the last 100 years)and is not found among the annals of Church History! It has more to do with the economic prosperity of the US than it does biblical theology. I'd challenge you demonstate otherwise. You would be further advised to read and study the likes of Spurgeon, Whitfield, Edwards and see if you can't detect a major difference in what they believed and taught vs. Copeland, et al! Hollysville, Prayon has asked a good question in response to yours. I would add 3 points as suggestions: 1. Commit this to prayer and ask for the Lord's guideance; 2. Go to the elders with your concerns as instructed in Matt. 18:15-17; 3. Seek the advise and counsel of others in your church whom you trust and respect (Prov. 11:14) Lastly, it is possible the Lord is moving you on, so to speak. Keep seeking Him and He will guide you (Prov. 3:5-6). Sometimes, as I myself have experienced, a negative situation can turn into a positive over time. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

FytRobert, Since you asked for comments, I'll offer mine:-) I don't like the term "earn points" as it implies a works based merit system, and it is contrary to scripture! (Rom. 11:6). It's certainly NOT based on grace. Now, I will agree that we should "do" both of these. However, it comes to motivation, and I believe one of the BEST verses speaking to this regard is Titus 2:11-12: "For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age..." Just out of curiosity, how would you define "earn points" and what would be your scriptural basis for arguing such? Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
