41 | Let This Post Stand For A While. | 1 Cor 11:5 | Tamara Brewington | 204208
I respectfuly ask that this post go unanswered for a while so that others who catch the thread of the subject about hats will read it before they post notes about the original post and subsequent notes. I am not insulted, just dismayed at the lack of respect the subject generated, it is a legitimate Bible study subject and in and of itself does not generate debate. But Christians who are opposed to the practice become judgmental and devicive if it comes up. 1)This is a disclaimer. 2)There has been much thread about hats. 3)The original question was whether or not Paul intended it to be a moral issue (contrary to popular current beliefs about whether it is or is not in the church today) for all Christians at all times, or whether it is to be understood as purely an historical event. 4)The context of the question and exploration into the entire passage concerning this was not posed to foster dissent among Christians whatever the believe about it, create an ongoing debate, make sarcastic remarks about those who don't believe it is necessary, or imply that external symbolism mattered more than internal examamination. 5)There was outright derision, unwarranted humor, and judgmental comments posted, which is not in keeping with this site's guidelines. 6)The question posted was consistently igonored or glossed over, over and over again, by everyone except user Carlos who was the only one interested in answering the actual question. |

53 | How do these accounts reconcile? | Bible general Archive 4 | Tamara Brewington | 204179
This is a repost because I am looking for a complete answer , I received one partial answer, thank you, you know who you are. I am also reposting this because I received complaints that my posts were not concise and would like to comply and again receive a complete answer, if there is one. There is no bottom line to this question it is not simple. 1)On context; The gospels have conflicting accounts of events at the tomb of Jesus on the resurrection day. 2)On context; Angels, Mathew has one angel on a sitting on a stone outside the tomb, Mark has one angel sitting to the right in the tomb, Luke and John have two angels inside the tomb. 3)On context; Mary sees Jesus first at the tomb and then goes and tells the disciples immediately in John, Mary sees Jesus first after leaving the tomb in Mark, The disciples see Jesus first at the place where they were away from the tomb in Mathew, the two on the road to Emmaus are the first to see Jesus in Luke. 4)On context; Mary goes alone in John, Mary goes with the other Mary in Mathew, Mary goes with three women in Mark, Mary goes with a group of women more than three in Luke. 5)Question; can you reconcile all four gospel accounts if you can please? |

54 | Wisodom has the power to save? | Rom 10:17 | Tamara Brewington | 204147
Once again I tried to include a scripture up in the appropriate boxes before writing this post, it won't let me do it. This is a question about whether or not wisdom from Jesus, like the parables found in Mathew, and the Sermon on the Mount has the power to salvically draw people to a saving faith in Christ. I am posting this for the second time because no one addressed the question in light of the scriptures which I did include, but gave me good advice and opinions, and because I got complaints that my posts were not concise and were too long. I looked up the Lockman Foundation’s guidelines and it said not to use brevity because it can be confusing and when you go to post a question it says to include all the details of your question, and there is a limit to how many characters you can type, if you exceed the limit it tells you to shorten by a certain amount of characters. There is no bottom line on this to go to; it is not a simple question. 1)On context, I came across a situation in which I was evangelizing with someone. This guy was asking passers by if they would like to discuss The Moral Argument, The Cosmological Argument, The Anthropological Argument, The Teleological Argument. Passers by were presented with an argument for that God exists as The Absolute Moral Law Giver, The Uncaused Cause, The Creator of Man in His Image, The Intelligent Maker of Creation. Then this guy would point out the fatal flaw in the rational of the passer by through setting an intellectual trap by showing them how their view was hypocritical, lacked rationality or otherwise did not measure up to the logic and wisdom of what he had presented as his argument. After pointing out their fatal flaw he would then try to get them to admit God existed, if he could get them to do that, then and only then would he give them the gospel message of Christ's atoning death. 2)On context, He invited me to a get together of believers and nonbelievers to hear a bit of Jesus wisdom from the gospels. The scripture was Mathew 7:1-5. I sat there for two hours while we discussed the elements of the text, like what is a log in your eye and what is a measure of judgment. The unbelievers were never given the gospel message of Christ's atoning death. 3)On context, I confronted this guy and asked why he didn't just give them the message that could save and that it bothered me that we were being unequally yoked with unbelievers studying scripture that has the power to equip the saved with wisdom, but which does not have the information necessary to save. He said the wisdom of Jesus has the power to draw people salvifically to God and that he was doing pre-evangelism. He said there is a mandate to use wisdom to evangelize. He also said Jesus was doing pre-evangelism by humbling or shaming and clarifying the law and the His miracles – these are all wisdom. 4)On context, the apostles did not use the words of Jesus wisdom to evangelize that I can see. In Acts it speaks of Peter and Paul using wisdom while they preached about Christ crucified as the way to salvation and to show from the OT that Jesus is God. 5)On context, He accused me of hiding behind the gospel and being unwilling to deal intellectually with people who can respond to rational, logical wisdom in order to get saved and that my methods of giving people the scriptures and the message of Christ's atonement was running away from the world. 6)The scriptures for my point that the gospel message we and the apostles preach is Christ crucified, I Corinthians 2:1-8, 1:18-31, Colossians 2:2-10, Acts 22:29-36, Acts 3:12-19, Acts 4:2, Acts 10:34-43. 7)The scriptures for his point that the wisdom of Jesus has the power to draw people salvifically to a saving faith in God, Mathew 12:25-28, II Corinthians 10:4, 5, John 20:30, 31, I kings 3:28, II Timothy 3:14, 15. 8)Question; does the wisdom that comes from the parables and the Sermon on the Mount by itself have the power to draw people salvically to a saving faith in God? 9)Question; is studying together with unbelievers without giving them the gospel being unequally yoked in ministry? |

55 | Knowing gay minister unequally yoked? | Bible general Archive 4 | Tamara Brewington | 203997
Ok now for something completely different. The kooky professor has a good friend who is a gay minster on the pulpit and has been having a discussion with this man about whether or not being gay and Christian(forget even the minister part) is Christian or wrong. This has been going on for three years and this professor didn't cut him off in the hopes of turning him around(go figure...) and has not taken it to the church either. He has been going back and forth with this guy via email and they are discussing doing a book together along the lines of Evangelicals and Catholics Together as if there is a real discussion here about whether it is something that can be overcome as Christians who have differing views about how to be Christians... I asked him if he would be concerned about being unequally yoked with this man in doing this book... His reply shocked the mess out of me, He said, oh that's not being unequally yoked, being unequally yoked is when we go out into the market place and work with unbelievers... HUNH? Opinions please scriputres or no ok with me, we all know some that apply. I won't ever be taking any of his classes after I am done this summer... God bless, Tamara
56 | Faith is will, emotion, truth? | Heb 11:1 | Tamara Brewington | 204013
Next question from the kooky professor... Faith consists of equal parts of will, emotion and truth. I have puzzled over this for a while and am thinking about what Hebrews says about faith consisting of things yet hoped for etc. But what do some of you guys think? God Bless, Tamara
57 | Wisdom has to be believed to get saved? | Rom 10:17 | Tamara Brewington | 203993
Next kooky professor question... The way to get saved is to get a knowledge of Christs atonement, the wisom of that knowledge has to be believed in order to get saved. The scripture given was Colossians 1:9,10 read the scripture first before you answer please. On this one I was not laughing I was rather more appalled. Opinions and scriptures please... God bless, Tamara
58 | When we see God will talking change us? | NT general | Tamara Brewington | 204007
Ok I got a lot of questions because of the kooky professor... He says when we see God we will become like him because we understand Him. I thought when we see God we will become like Him because His glory will transform us, but He said no, we are gonna have a little talk and get changed... Laughing again? I tried not to, this was in class... Opinions and scriptures please. God Bless, Tamara
59 | God has a backside or is it His anger? | Exodus | Tamara Brewington | 204009
OK next question because of the kooky professor... Moses didn't realy see the back side of God because God is a spirit wihtout a front or a back. And by the way has no spiritual body, even though Paul says there are spiritual bodies and physical bodies. Moses never saw any part of God and further God did not hide Moses with His hand to shield Moses from His glory because He doesn't have a hand. Then to top it off the back side of God that He showed Moses was his sterness and anger like in Jeremiah 18:17... Are you laughing yet? I was, but honestly I am interseted in what you think of his take on this because God is a spirit. My answer was that there are spiritual bodies and that God said He has a front a back and a hand, how you gonna tell God he don't? Tell me what you all think. God Bless, Tamara
60 | Speaking to God not glory, Moses shines? | Ex 34:29 | Tamara Brewington | 204003
Ok here's another one from the kooky professor... When Moses went up the mountain and received the 10 commandments the first time in Exodus 34 this guy is saying that it wasn't getting in the presence of the glory of God that make Moses face shine, it was Moses speaking in concentration form for a long time that got Moses face to shine. The reason he gave is verse 29. God Bless, Tamara
