41 | Are we over stressing the need to repent | Rom 1:19 | Pastor Glenn | 91584
Megiddo, I put a question to my children. The question was, if our house was on fire while they were watching their favorite TV show and I decided not to disturb them, would they hate me if they got burned? Their answer was yes. Well, you must see what I am getting at here. Is it showing “hate” to warn people of approaching danger? Any child understands this. We do people a great disservice by coming to them and saying “I am sorry to disturb your show, but I love you and Jesus loves you too. Would you mind coming outside with me because Jesus wants you to accept “God's gift of grace brought to us through Jesus...who died for our sins.” From a previous post o Rom 1:21 I wrote: "... Paul was reminding, perhaps even warning, the Corinthian Christians that those who continued the pattern of leading the same sinful and decadent life were not going to inherit eternal salvation because it would indicate that they were never regenerated, never born again, never saved. ..." I was reading an article that gets to the heart of the problem of dealing with repentance: "... Two men are seated in a plane. The first is given a parachute and told to put is on as it would improve his flight. He's a little skeptical at first because he can't see how wearing a parachute in a plane could possibly improve the flight. After a time he decides to experiment and see if the claim is true. As he puts it on he notices the weight of it upon his shoulders and he finds that he has difficulty in sitting upright. However, he consoles himself with the fact that he was told the parachute would improve the flight. So, he decides to give the thing a little time. As he waits he notices that some of the other passengers are laughing at him, because he's wearing a parachute in a plane. He begins to feel somewhat humiliated. As they begin to point and laugh at him and he can stand it no longer, he slinks in his seat, un-straps the parachute, and throws it to the floor. Disillusionment and bitterness fill his heart, because, as far as he was concerned, he was told an outright lie. The second man is given a parachute, but listen to what he's told. He's told to put it on because at any moment he'd be jumping 25,000 feet out of the plane. He gratefully puts the parachute on; he doesn't notice the weight of it upon his shoulders, nor that he can't sit upright. His mind is consumed with the thought of what would happen to him if he jumped without that parachute. ..." http://www.christiansinteractive.com called: "Bible and Teaching: Hell's Best Kept Secret , by Ray Comfort Posted by: JoeRick on Mar 06, 2003 - 06:10 PM" The main point of the article is that the Gospel has no strength without repentance. Actually there is no remission of sins without repentance. Pastor Glenn |

42 | How important is self esteem? | Ezek 16:44 | Pastor Glenn | 89402
Below are a number of scriptures that refer to sinners with low self esteem. It is sometimes said that you must love yourself before you can love others. Is this true? How does God feel about it according to these scriptures? Eze 16 says a lot. Ezekiel 6:9 Then those of you who escape will remember Me among the nations where they are carried captive, because I was crushed by their adulterous heart which has departed from Me, and by their eyes which play the harlot after their idols; they will loathe themselves for the evils which they committed in all their abominations. Ezekiel 16:5 No eye pitied you, to do any of these things for you, to have compassion on you; but you were thrown out into the open field, when you yourself were loathed on the day you were born. Ezekiel 16:45 You are your mother's daughter, loathing husband and children; and you are the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands and children; your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite. Ezekiel 20:43 And there you shall remember your ways and all your doings with which you were defiled; and you shall loathe yourselves in your own sight because of all the evils that you have committed. Ezekiel 36:31 Then you will remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good; and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight, for your iniquities and your abominations. |

43 | Why does he say "to the Jew first"? | Rom 1:16 | Pastor Glenn | 86609
Why does he say "to the Jew first"? (Rom 1:16) Joh 4:22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 2:9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; Romans 2:10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: Acts 13:46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. Acts 26:20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. Why preach to Jews and Jerusalem first? Do we need to go to Jerusalem or Jewish unbelievers first today? Why does he say "to the Jew first"? Pastor Glenn |

44 | How does this scripture fit your message | 1 Cor 15:1 | Pastor Glenn | 86134
Goodnewsminister, How does this scripture fit into your message? Luke 12 4"I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. 5But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. Pastor Glenn |

45 | dictatorship superior to democracy? | Dan 2:37 | Pastor Glenn | 82334
Is this scripture implying that dictatorship is superior to democracy? Dan 2 37You, O king, are a king of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength, and glory; 38and wherever the children of men dwell, or the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven, He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all--you are this head of gold. 39But after you shall arise another kingdom inferior to yours; then another, a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over all the earth. 40And the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron, inasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and shatters everything; and like iron that crushes, that kingdom will break in pieces and crush all the others. 41Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter's clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. |

46 | How to use scripture, prove them wrong? | Bible general Archive 1 | Pastor Glenn | 82269
EdB, It seems that many arguments against WOF go too far in that they begin to appear as anti-faith. Faith in faith IS truly meaningless. I do see that faith in Christ is the important point, but it is not at all stressed in these arguments against WOF. Christ Jesus Himself stressed the dangers of “doubt”, never did He stress the dangers of too much faith in Him: Matthew 21 21So Jesus answered and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, "Be removed and be cast into the sea,' it will be done. 22And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." Please do not be offended by what I have to say, as I am not defending WOF teachings. However, I do defend faith in Christ and the authority that He gave us. You asked: ”As for not mentioning scripture how do you take a person that is convoluting scripture and use scripture to prove they are wrong. Scripture is a statement of truth not an arguement against falsehoods. “ Since truth is the opposite of false, then the Word can be used to prove falsehoods. After all, don’t we use scripture to show that there is a trinity when the word trinity is not used in the bible? Also, as the US military entered Baghdad, there were arab news braodcasters that were saying that the US was not in Baghdad. Well, if those broadcasters had continued to lie, a couple days later they would have found the need to explain the US tanks that rolled by during their broadcast! Just continue to use scripture to tell the truth. Don’t worry about refuting every lie. More lies are continually needed to prop-up previous lies. However, the truth stands on its own. You asked: ”When a false teacher says "we have all authority" how do I or anyone else refute that with scripture that says "all authority was given to Jesus" or "we have authority to use the name of Jesus"? There is no scripture that says we have no authority in ourselves only what God makes available to us through the name of Jesus. Which is far different than saying we have ('all' being implied) authority.” I think you may have a misconception of the difference between “power” and “authority”: When a policeman has an arrest warant, does’nt he have “all” authority of the government to make that arrest? Because, if he is injured or chased off, then many more police will arrive. If they still do not have enough power to handle the arrest then more and more reinforcments are called in, so that whatever is necessary to make the arrest comes to bare. This is what defines “authority” and illistrates the difference between “power” and “authority”. You asked: ”When a false teacher says Adam gave Satan authority in the garden. When there is no mention of any authority transfer mentioned anywhere in the Bible connected to the fall in the garden how can anyone use scripture to refute it. Do you expect the Bible to say someday a false teacher will say there was an authority transfer in the garden hence know this, it is not true?” Then how do you reconcile these scriptures: Gen 1 28Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." ”When a false teacher says God had to sneak Jesus on this earth to regain control. ... Do you expect the Bible to say I didn't have to sneak Jesus on to the earth or that God didn't have to regain control?” 1 Corinthians 2 7But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, 8which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. EdB, I encourage you to put forward more scripture, after all, it is the only weapon of our armour. I also recognize that you are not one to blurt out words that you have not thought through. 2 Corinthians 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, Ephesians 6 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[3] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. … 16above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; Pastor Glenn |

47 | What does this mean: James 2:21-23 ? | Bible general Archive 1 | Pastor Glenn | 79683
inhisname, Please explain this scripture that Joe put forward: "Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected; and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "AND ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS," and he was called the friend of God." --James 2:21-23 What does this mean? 48 | Gog and Magog from Genesis to Revelation | Acts 17:26 | Pastor Glenn | 79680
After doing a search for Gog and Magog I found the following scriptures: Genesis 10:2 The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. 1 Chronicles 1:5 The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. Ezekiel 38:2 "Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh,[38:2 Targum, Vulgate, and Aquila read [chief prince of ] (also verse 3).] Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, Ezekiel 39:6 "And I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in security in the coastlands. Then they shall know that I am the LORD. Revelation 20:8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. Is there something that we should recognize about the battle of Rev 20:8 by considering all of these scriptures together? Is there anything significant to be considered here? Why would Gog and Magog be important enough to mention in the book of Revelation? One strange thing I notice is how Satan is able to decieve the nations to battle even after 1000 years of Christ's rule. Pastor Glenn |

49 | Decendents of Ishmael and/or Esau? | Gen 25:13 | Pastor Glenn | 79669
Is there any way to know which present day nations are decendents of Ishmael and/or Esau. Gen 25 13And these were the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: The firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, 14Mishma, Dumah, Massa, 15Hadar,[1] Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah. 16These were the sons of Ishmael and these were their names, by their towns and their settlements, twelve princes according to their nations. Genesis 36:43 Chief Magdiel, and Chief Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom, according to their dwelling places in the land of their possession. Esau was the father of the Edomites. Who are these nations today? Pastor Glenn |

50 | What other Immanuel was born of a virgin | Bible general Archive 1 | Pastor Glenn | 72335
Aften1, Using the following scriptures (NKJV) it is impossible to say that Jesus is not Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 14Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.[Literally God-With-Us] Isaiah 9 6For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. Psalm 110 Announcement of the Messiah's Reign (Matt. 22:44; Acts 2:34, 35) A Psalm of David. 1 The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool." 2The LORD shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies! 3Your people shall be volunteers In the day of Your power; In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth. 4The LORD has sworn And will not relent, "You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek." 5The Lord is at Your right hand; He shall execute kings in the day of His wrath. Jesus: How Can David Call His Descendant Lord? (5) 41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, 42saying, "What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?" They said to Him, "The Son of David." 43He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call Him "Lord,' saying: 44"The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool"'?[6] 45If David then calls Him "Lord,' how is He his Son?" 46And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore. What other Immanuel was born of a virgin other than Jesus Christ? Now I almost wish there were another Jahovah's Witness here to say that this is the new Watchtower teaching. I took the liberty of checking the www.watchtower.org web site, but there seems to be no official position like yours there. Is this something that you arrived at from reading the NWT bible? 52 | Aften1, are you a Christian? | Bible general Archive 1 | Pastor Glenn | 72110
Aften1, Here is the bible verse that Hank gave you: John 14 6Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Christ and His disciples were all Jews. But read what Paul said of his former jewish religion of Pharisis: Philippians 3 3For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit,[1] rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh, 4though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: 5circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; 6concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. 7But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ Aften1, are you a Christian? 53 | Are you a true believer? | Rom 8:39 | Pastor Glenn | 68220
Romans 8 is the wrong chapter to consider this question. "Is there security of the believer?" is secondary to the question of "Are you a true believer?". So maybe the question should be: "Is there security of the TRUE believer?" There are many that SAY they believe, but do they believe "in their heart"? Romans 10 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Nowhere in the bible does it teach salvation for someone that is stuck in sin. If they truly love Jesus there will be evidence of a changed life. He said those that love Him will keep His comandments. Yes, King David slipped into sin, but when the temptation came again years later he showed his spiritual maturity: 1 Kings 1 1 Now King David was old, advanced in years; and they put covers on him, but he could not get warm. 2Therefore his servants said to him, "Let a young woman, a virgin, be sought for our lord the king, and let her stand before the king, and let her care for him; and let her lie in your bosom, that our lord the king may be warm." 3So they sought for a lovely young woman throughout all the territory of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king. 4The young woman was very lovely; and she cared for the king, and served him; but the king did not know her. Those that are stuck in sin should doubt their "true salvation" and repent. They do not need to hate themselves, but they should hate their sin. Then God can change them from the inside out. See Psalms 51. Pastor Glenn |

55 | Double fulfilment of prophecy? | Matt 2:18 | Pastor Glenn | 66935
Is Matthew holding to the same rules of biblical interpretation in this scripture that we often use today when determining prophecy fulfilment? Are there rules and methods that we can learn from and apply to other prophecy scriptures today? Or is this simply an example of inspiration from God to show this fulfilment? Jeremiah 31:15 Thus says the LORD: "A voice was heard in Ramah, Lamentation and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children, Refusing to be comforted for her children, Because they are no more." 56 | Called and sent by God or just "went"? | Acts 6:5 | Pastor Glenn | 66448
Called and sent by God or just "went"? Is it important to wait for the leading of the Holy Spirit before entering the ministry? Or is it enough to just be born again and study the scriptures or both? Are the Old Testament scriptures like Jeremiah 14:14 related only to the prophets of old or are they relavant to ministers today? Here are some related scriptures: Acts 6:3Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; Acts 8:29Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go near and overtake this chariot." Isaiah 6:5 So I said: "Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts." 6Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7And he touched my mouth with it, and said: "Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged." 8Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." Jer 14:13Then I said, "Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, the prophets say to them, "You shall not see the sword, nor shall you have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place."' 14And the LORD said to me, "The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart. 15Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the prophets who prophesy in My name, whom I did not send, and who say, "Sword and famine shall not be in this land'--"By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed! 57 | attempt to merge philosophy, logic, and? | Gen 1:26 | Pastor Glenn | 65550

60 | Jesus' faith teaching vs Word of Faith? | Matt 14:29 | Pastor Glenn | 65222
How do we put this scripture into proper perspective to straighten out "Word of Faith" teachings today? Mat 14 28"Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water." 29"Come," he said. 30Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" 31Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?" Pastor Glenn |
