44 | Jesus Christ is whose idol? | Rom 10:17 | Mommapbs | 151442
fborn posts: "it's OK to call Christ God but he is not the Lord God,a lot of folk have pretty much excluded God the Father from his own program. We must be aware of making Christ an Idol without even realizing it. So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Besides the Lord God there is no Savior. Christ said to God I have finished the work you gave me to do and on the cross Jesus said in to thy hands I commit my Spirit. Christ said that he was speaking God the Father's doctrine." Mommapbs posts: I understand how a JW (there is no God but Jehovah and we are all sons of God) or a Muslim (there is no god but Allah and Muhammed is his prophet) could make Jesus an idol . . . I can also understand how one could possibly make the written book we call the Bible an idol, but How can a Christ follower make Jesus Christ an idol? Jesus Christ is both Lord and Savior (2 Peter 3:18). My original question did not presuppose that Jesus is not God. Jesus is God - Jesus and Jehovah are One. fborn, do you agree or disagree with the statements above? Yes or no will be sufficient. Jude 1:4 |

45 | Word of Christ? | Rom 10:17 | Mommapbs | 151098
Can we say that the word of Christ enables us to hear and hearing enables our faith? (The word of Christ demands a response? 1 Peter 4:5,6; Romans 14:12) What then is the "word of Christ"? Might it be that Jesus is God? (John 1:1-2;14) I'm also considering these references: Mt 4:4; Heb 1:2; Mt 7:24; and Col 3:16. Any input would be appreciated. |

56 | Please leave this up for a day! | Jer 33:3 | Mommapbs | 146344
Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Christ: A week ago today, my son-in-law Kim was summoned into the presence of the Lord. He leaves behind a grieving family – our daughter Laura (30) and our grandson Garett (3) as well as us all. This was unexpected. He came home from work feeling ill on Friday and developed a fever overnight. Our daughter took him to the hospital Saturday morning and he died less than 24 hours later of sepsis (a massive blood infection that compromised his heart - Kim was 45). The cause is unknown and there remain many unanswered questions. But instead of asking why, we are choosing to focus on Who. I have no idea how anyone can endure a tragedy like this without faith in God; but through this experience I’ve learned that no one can survive apart from the faithfulness of God! God has prepared the way and we are walking in it – not alone, but with Him. Kim came into our lives much like March does, “like a lion.” He was rebellious, fiercely independent, prideful and arrogant at times (so much like each of us!). Yet the previous week, God captured his attention and He drew Him unto Himself. What a comforting blessing this was for our daughter who observed God’s work in Kim’s heart in the days before he died. Our daughter sat by Kim’s side and read from the Psalms. There was a noticeable change in the monitors as she read. After reading the 23rd Psalm, our daughter released her beloved husband and told him that if he saw Jesus, he should go with Him. And Jesus came to that bedside and called Kim to come home. Kim went out just like the month in which he died, “like a lamb” following the Good Shepherd. At the funeral, the Pastor who had married them told us all a wonderful quote by Spurgeon that goes something like this: “God is too loving to be unkind; God is too wise to make a mistake; and if you can’t see what His hand is doing, trust His heart.” We have been doing just that. In fact, we have been compiling a “blessing book.” We have listed all the blessings that God has bestowed upon our family during this time. What a wonderful opportunity we have had to praise and thank God in obedience to His Word; and we have been blessed with such peace in the process! I have learned the truth of God’s promise in Jeremiah 33:3 – to call upon Him and He will answer and tell us great and mighty things which we do not know. God hasn’t told us 'why' He chose to take Kim from us but He has revealed something much better- Himself, and isn’t this just what God is: great and mighty?!!! For my Catholic brothers and sisters, the readings for the Mass of March 13 were very poignant. Our daughter chose to share part of this at Kim's funeral. “You are Mine” I will come to you in silence, I will lift you from all fear. You will hear My voice, I claim you as My choice Be still and know that I am here, Do not be afraid, I am with you. I have called you each by name. Come and follow Me, I will bring you home, I love you and you are Mine. It is my hope that this will encourage you to trust God's love and faithfulness toward you in whatever path He is leading you! 57 | Clean and unclean animals? | Gen 7:2 | Mommapbs | 144946
Since this is the first instance of the word "clean" in Scripture - how did Noah know which animals were "clean" and "not clean?" It seems impossible to me that Noah could go out and round up all the animal species of the earth, so does it stand to reason that God brought the animals to Noah? If He did, then does it also stand to reason that God brought 7 pairs of clean animals to the ark, thus distinguishing between those that were clean and those that were unclean? |

58 | The "goodness" of man? | Jer 17:9 | Mommapbs | 144944
Recently, I had a conversation with an individual who declared that man's basic problem with his identity and self esteem lies in the fact that he is unwilling to believe in his own goodness. I'd appreciate some input on this "philosophy." Please support your comments with Scripture. Thanks! Blessings, mommapbs |
