401 | Can a slave desire to be free? | 2 Pet 2:19 | ebrain | 164443
They will not express any desire to be free, because they think that they are free. As is the case with all verses of Scripture these must be read in their context, the final destiny of the persons spoken of in v 19, is found in v 17. These people are False Prophets, and False Teachers, they may think that they are the real thing, but clearly they are not, they will be told "I never knew you". What I do not understand is why you asked this question in the first place, please enlighten me. Yours because I am His. Edwin. |

402 | Can a slave desire to be free? | 2 Pet 2:19 | ebrain | 164417
That depends on who you are a slave of, if of the devil, then yes, but if you are a slave of Jesus the Christ, then no.

It is addressed to all christians, who are finding living the christian life very hard indeed. Paul himself had problems see Romans Ch 7 v 14 to Ch 8 v 8. As Jesus said "Without me you can do nothing" John 15:5. |

405 | The difference between Allah and God | Matt 5:44 | ebrain | 164342
We are told to "love our enemies". Ask to be shown a similar verse in their book. Only if our Lord is doing a work in their hearts is there any possibility of your being able to help them. Read Eph 6:12,and 1st Cor 2:14, you carn't, He can, read also Luke 24:45, if He does not open their minds, there is nothing that you can do about it. I am sorry if I sound negative, but these are the facts, we are involved in the supernatural, to find out it is done, read John 15:5,and John 5:30, learn how He did it, and you will find out how you can do it. |

407 | is creamation right | 1 Cor 15:51 | ebrain | 164283
I see no Biblical problem, what makes you think that it might not be right? Whether your body is burnt, or not, it returns to the basic elements from which God made it in the first place, and He can do so again. The body is material, the soul/spirit is not. |

408 | Does the Bible tell us to go to Church? | Heb 10:25 | ebrain | 164060
I think you will find the above verse helpfull. It would appear from your question, that your daughter is not saved, which would explain why she has no desire to go to church, if however she does get saved, then in all probibility, she will have a strong desire to meet with other christians. The verse at Hebrews 10:25, is addressed to saved persons, and not the un-converted. |

411 | What are the 2 types of Grace | Eph 2:8 | ebrain | 163896
If you are refering to the Grace of God, then there is only one. Any one who says otherwise is mistaken, although it might be said that some people are capable of exibiting grace to others, but this grace will not forgive sins against God. |

412 | amplifeid bible of luke 17:34 | Luke 17:34 | ebrain | 163801
Read also Matt 24:40. in that part of the world where it gets very hot from mid day onwards, work outdoors was only done in the morning. Two in a field therefore refers to the morning, Two grinding at the mill refers to indoor work because it was too hot to do work outdoors, and Two in a bed refers to night. What our Lord is saying in fact is that when He returns (which will be at one moment in time), that because of the shape of our earth, it will be morning in one place, afternoon in another place, and night somewhare else. I hope that this is of some help to you. |

413 | Why did Lot "sit in the gate" in Sodom | Ruth 4:1 | ebrain | 163799
At that time the city gate was the location where the Elders, and Judges sat, see Ruth Ch 4 verses 1-6, this will give you the picture. Lot being a respected member of the comunity was therefore included with thoes who sat in the gate. It was a place of authority, and judgment, rather like a courthouse in our society. In Matthew 16:18, "and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it", here Jesus is saying that all the power that satan has will not prevail against the church. |

414 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | ebrain | 163797
Thank you Jeff. Many years ago I read a book by "A W Pink" entitled "The Sovereignty of God", this book I found most helpfull, you may of course allready have it, but if not then I can strongly recommend it, copies can be obtained from www.amazon.com Regarding the responses in this thread, I can certainly say that they are both interesting, and informative. Thank you again for your comments. The Lord bless you. Edwin |

415 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | ebrain | 163790
Thank you Jeff for your kind words about me at the start of paragraph two of your post to Mark. If you would like to know a little more of just what it is that I believe, perhaps you would be good enough to read other material contributed by "ebrain" since the date of your post above, If you do, I would value your comments. Yours in Christ. ebrain. P.S. Oh and by the way my gender is male. |

416 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | ebrain | 163777
Hi Mark. My use of the word "appears" is due to the fact that Scripture does not disagree with Scripture, although, it may "appear" to do so due to the limitations of human ability to comprehend. That is why I asked you to help me to reconcile the apparent contradiction of John 12:40, with Ezekiel 33:11, and 2 Peter 3:9. I look forward your reply with eager anticipation. Christian love. Edwin. |

417 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | ebrain | 163776
Hi Mark. I have no problem with the first two paragraphs of your post, but what Biblicl indication do you have that Pharaoh had a free will? As Jesus said "you are of your father the devil, and his will you wish to do", John 8:44. Now tell me in what way were you, I, and for that matter Pharaoh any different whilst we were unconverted. Yours, because I am His. Edwin. |

419 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | ebrain | 163747
Thank you Steve for your post. I thought I was sending one to you, but sent it (3:14pm to day) to Mark in error, so please read same, and it will put this post into persoective. Ezekiel, and 2nd Peter were refered to as a contrast to John 12:40, this latter verse was drawn to my attention by Mark, who I in turn asked to reconcile it with E and P above. At first glance, it would appear that these verses disagree with each other, and that is exactly why I used the word "appear" in an eairler post. Of course Scripture does not dissagree with itself, and whats more it cannot be made to do so. There must therefore be another explanation, and that is what I wanted when I asked for a reconciliation of these verses. Yours because I am His. Edwin. |

420 | Why was his heart hardened? | Ex 4:21 | ebrain | 163742
Yes you are correct in your understanding of what I was attempting to convey. Take for example the verse to which you drew my attention, i.e. Ex 4:21. in this verse our Lord not only says that He will harden Pharaoh's heart but reminds Moses to be sure to perform all the miracles that the Lord had put in his power. Now why do you think it is put this way?, because it is as a result of these miracles that Moses must perform that Pharaoh's heart will be hardened, after all it is God who performs the miracles, Moses is just the agent through whom it is done. P.S. I will deal with your question on Ezekiel. and 2nd Peter seperatly. Every blessing. Edwin. |
