4001 | who did cain marry? | Gen 1:1 | kalos | 3777
There's not a single verse of Scripture that plainly supports the existence of a pre-Adamic race of human or human-like creatures. Cain obviously married one of the later daughters of Adam.
4002 | Can one who commits suicide be saved? | Ex 20:13 | kalos | 3776
So you are a proclaimer of Faith alone in Christ alone. So am I! If you read many of my postings, this will soon become obvious. My FIRST teaching, whether when teaching a class or in posting to the Forum, is simply: Salvation is by Grace alone through Faith alone in Christ alone. Way to go, FisH. My favorite scripture verse: Rom 3:28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law. (See also Eph 2:8-9) . . . I agree entirely with your previous posting. Well put! Keep on being faithful to the Word. Let God be true, and every man a liar. . . . The most basic principle of interpretation, one which many post-ers either will not or cannot (because they don't understand it?) abide by, is that which John MacArthur writes of: "One of the basic principles of biblical interpretation is the *analogia scriptura*, the analogy of Scripture. In other words, we must compare Scripture with Scripture in order to understand its full and proper sense. And SINCE THE BIBLE DOESN'T CONTRADICT ITSELF, ANY INTERPRETATION OF A SPECIFIC PASSAGE THAT CONTRADICTS THE GENERAL TEACHING OF THE BIBLE IS TO BE REJECTED." (Emphasis by capitalization is mine.) |

4003 | What is the Holy Spirit? | Bible general Archive 1 | kalos | 3727
The Father is God. The Son is God. The Holy Spirit is God. . . . To say that God is Himself shows a real grasp of the obvious. Not a bad definition of Jesus. How about giving us a definition of "Jesus Christ"? The Holy Spirit is a person -- not an it, not a what, not merely an influence -- but a PERSON. |

4004 | WILL A BABY IN THE WOMB GO IN THE RAPTUR | 2 Thessalonians | kalos | 3695
Really? I don't suppose you could document your answer by supplying us with the title of the book and the name of the author, could you? Or do we have to accept your answer based on faith in Elijah?
4005 | God can use woman in the ministry? | Gal 3:28 | kalos | 3686
This note of yours ALSO totally ignores the issues raised in the posting to which it replies. How convenient for you! If you understand neither the question nor the answer, turn it into a joke and be done with it. Anyway, Elijah, glad to see that you have a sense of humor. :-)
4006 | God can use woman in the ministry? | Gal 3:28 | kalos | 3683
Your note totally ignores the points made in the posting to which it is a reply. Comparing Moses, God's designated leader, to one of dozens of English translations of the Bible is like comparing apples and Beenie Babies. They are two totally different subjects. . . . How can you make a general rule of the idea that the one is always superior to the many? If that is true, when we hold elections in this country, instead of abiding by the majority vote, maybe we should change the Constitution so that we will abide and be ruled by the minority vote. (Here I do not mean any racial minority, but the voting minority.) Is that what you want? How about the Twelve who followed Jesus? Maybe the other eleven should have listened to Judas. After all, he was one lone voice among 12, was he not? |

4007 | Can one who commits suicide be saved? | Ex 20:13 | kalos | 3674
Dear FisH: Thank you for an excellent, accurate, Biblical answer. Some Bible "experts" apparently are full of Bible verses and quotations, but unfortunately have no idea what the words in those Bible verses mean.
4008 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | 1 Pet 3:21 | kalos | 3608
Why would Paul tell people who are already saved how to be saved? Maybe for the same reason that the book of Romans is clearly addressed "To all who are beloved of God in Rome, called as saints" (Rom 1:7 NASB). Yet the book of Romans, clearly addressed to believers, presents God's plan of salvation as plainly and simply as any book of the Bible. (See Rom 3:10; 3:23; 6:23; 5:8; and 10:9-10,13.) . . . Sir, I do respect your right to your beliefs, but this argument that the same book of the Bible addressed to Christians would not present God's plan of salvation is a very weak argument. In fact, it hardly qualifies as a serious argument. Eph 2:8-9 may or may not tell "how to get saved", but it definitely tells how or by what we are saved: "by grace through faith" and "not of works". . . . If you had read my two postings, "Is baptism needed for salvation?" (One.) and "Is baptism needed for salvation? Part 0", you would realize that quibbling over two verses of Scripture is not going to overthrow that whole body of evidence I have presented. At least not to me it isn't. |

4009 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | 1 Pet 3:21 | kalos | 3594
I have no idea what you mean. You can't be saying that Eph 1:1 cancels out Eph 2:8-9, can you? If so, this is the weirdest argument I've ever seen to prove that salvation is by faith plus something else. Is this your argument for water salvation?
4010 | How can we influence who is saved? | 1 Pet 2:9 | kalos | 3583
Your apology is accepted, though none was needed. It is I who needs to apologize to you. I was completely out of line. When I saw that you had addressed your reply to my posting, I immediately jumped to the conlcusion that you were talking to me. Upon further reflection, I realized that you were probably addressing the primary question and not me. I sincerely apologize. I have wronged you. I was not being Christ-like when I wrote my reply. Give you a break? Of course! Welcome to the website. Please stay with us. Everyone is not as impulsive as I sometimes am. Peace?

4013 | How can we influence who is saved? | 1 Pet 2:9 | kalos | 3568
"Examine my belief in Calvinism?" What is wrong with you? In my previous postings, did I not say, "I am not a hyper-Calvinist?" Are we living in the Bizarro world? Why would you tell me to examine my belief in Calvinism, when I just got through telling you I deny belief in Calvinism? ??????? What in the world are you talking about? |
||||||
4014 | Please tell me: What does "filled" mean? | 1 Cor 12:13 | kalos | 3567
But in ONE OR TWO WORDS, what does "being filled" mean"? I say again: we know that Scripture uses the word "filled", but what does that word "mean"? While all believers are *indwelt* by the Holy Spirit (Rom 8:9), it is obvious that not all believers at all times are *controlled* by the Spirit. If "being filled" does not mean "being controlled by", then what does it mean? YOU TELL ME: IN *one or two words*, WHAT DOES "BEING FILLED" MEAN? . . . ONE OR TWO WORDS, please. This is a simple question that does not require a 300-word essay. Can you or can you not answer my simple question as I asked it? |

4015 | God can use woman in the ministry? | Gal 3:28 | kalos | 3537
Again I commend you on a good, sound, sensible reply. I couldn't agree with you more. Keep up the good work. Always appreciate your postings. --JVH0212
4016 | What will heaven be like? | Bible general Archive 1 | kalos | 3535
Thank you for your note, Nolan. God bless you in all your service to Him. I would be very interested in reading your list of Bible versions to avoid. What an excellent idea for a list. Please email me at my address, which is posted at my User Profile. Looking forward to hearing much more from you. In Christ, JVH0212
4017 | God can use woman in the ministry? | Gal 3:28 | kalos | 3497
Dear reformedreader: Welcome to the club. I also posted a question, a very simple straightforward question regarding Elijah's original assertion. I, too, have received no reply. My question is as follows: . . . "Dear Elijah: You write: 'These scriptures have been change in every Bible that I know of, but one...' My question for you is: They were changed from what? FROM WHAT? Were they changed from the original Hebrew text or were they changed from a particular English *translation* of the text?" If his assertion cannot even be clarified by answering honest questions about it, then I would have to assume that the original assertion has no validity, no basis in fact. |

4018 | who is She referring to? | 1 Pet 5:13 | kalos | 3456
The NLT may provide a *clearer* translation of 1 Pet 5:13, but I hardly think the NLT in general is a *better* translation than the NASB.
4019 | where has this verse gone | 1 John 5:7 | kalos | 3447
The changes in the Scofield Reference Bible may not have come about until recently. But the fact is: this verse has no manuscript authority and has been inserted. It had no manuscript authority in 100 A.D. It had no manuscript authority when Erasmus translated the NT. It had no manuscript authority at the time of the Reformation. It has none today. In short, this verse never did, does not now, and never will have any manuscript authority, regardless of which edition of the Scofield reports that fact.
4020 | Where is heaven? | Bible general Archive 1 | kalos | 3443
Another good Scripture-based answer. Thanks again, Nolan.
