381 | Biblical - women preachers/teachers??? | 1 Tim 2:12 | Country Girl | 123717
The Bible is very specific about this subject. 1 Cor 14:34 The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

382 | King James bible only one to read? | Genesis | Country Girl | 123709
The only item in the King James version that is obsessed with itself is the "authorization" by King James himself. He issued it and had it printed at the very front of the Bible. Of course, this was merely another man who was seeking to get yet another slice of glory, more than what was his due. The King James version is fairly good. It's last these 4 centuries and has done a marvelous job of promoting the English language. I take comfort in the fact that there is no such thing as an original authograph copy of God's Word, otherwise it would have turned into an item of worship. It's not the book itself, made from parchment, paper or modern bits on computer disc that's sacred. It's the fact that they actually are the very Words of God that is the original Thoughts/Message of God. Since the first day of their original authorship, man has been struggling with the copying and re-copying, interpreting and re-interpreting of God's Word. I believe for the most part, the vast majority of God's Word in the Bible is just as accurate as it was first recorded but one has to come to conclusion based on faith as it would be impossible to prove "beyond a shadow of a doubt." I think that's the way God prefers it. He wants us to accept Him and what He has to say on faith. The most important thing in this relationship is that we must obey God's Word if we really want to go to Heaven. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

383 | angry at Aaron and miriam | OT general | Country Girl | 123527
I can only assume you're referring to the following Num 12:1 Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married (for he had married a Cushite woman); It looks as though you don't realize that the Jews were under very strict rules to keep the bloodline pure. Moses' brother and sister were upset with Moses for not adhering to that family tradition. But if you continue reading in that chapter, you'll see that God came down rather harshly on them but endorsed Moses. Many times we see that God takes many exceptions to man's traditions such as giving prominence to some other child other than the first born son. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

384 | Once | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 123522
This concept "once saved always saved" simply doesn't exist in God's Word. Among many other scriptures in support, one could cite Jesus' parable on the Prodical Son. There are many stories in the Bible depictinig God's people, including christians who sin and are rejected by one or more of the Apostles, representing God's rejection. 1 Tim 1:18 This command I entrust to you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you fight the good fight, 1 Tim 1:19 keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith. 1 Tim 1:20 Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan, so that they will be taught not to blaspheme. 386 | Should a christian believe in destiny? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 123514
I would recommend against it, our God gives us freedom to choose our ultimate desitnation for our soul and all the choices in between now and then. It sounds intriguing and attractive to follow someone else's advice to find our "destiny" but too often it leads to someone or something that doesn't really have our best interests at heart. In my opinion, it's best to stick with God and His Word. He and His Word are the ONLY things that are absolutely reliable and we can be assured that God does have our best interests at heart. There are many scriptures that could be cited but the best I could think of is from the wisest man that ever lived and he pursue every conceivable option known to man. Eccl 12:12 But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body. Eccl 12:13 The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. Eccl 12:14 For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil. It would be wise for you to read the rest of this book. Blessings to you. Country girl. |
