381 | Praying Rather than Cursing | Ex 22:28 | EdB | 242900
"We believe that God Himself repairs the believer's will such that he is enabled to choose God. That distinction makes a whole world of difference." "Repairs" is a synonym for "takes away man's free will." " or render it void" I'm working on a teaching about the blood covenant and tonight I'm talking on Johathan and David and how their covenant touched Mephiboseth. Jonathan and Saul are dead and Mephiboseth is living on the backside of nowhere, when David asks is there no one I can show covenant kindness to? 2 Samuel 9 The servants bring Mephiboseth who probably thinks he is being dragged in to be killed. David offers him a new life as a new person. Not because of anything Mephiboseth did but because of the covenant between David and Johathan. Mephiboseth has to make a decision. To accept the offer, to love David and to become a completely different person or return to being the one that was living on the backside of nowhere. This story is a Old Testament picture of New Testament truth. We are brought into covenant relationship with God because of the New Covenant, the covenant between Christ and God. We are brought in not because of anything we did but because of what Christ did. However we have to choose to become the new man that is being offered to us. The free gift of becoming a men person in Christ (Salvation) seems like too good of deal to turn down, yet through the years I have witnessed many people flat out refuse it or walk away after having accepted it. |

383 | Praying Rather than Cursing | Ex 22:28 | EdB | 242896
I think on sovereignty we are in close agreement however our 5 percent difference is over how much influence God manifests in man’s will and man’s situations. I believe God’s plan can not be impeded by creation yet allows man the freedom to choose rebellion or obedience. On the other hand, I believe you hold that God has orchestrated creation/man to fulfill His plan which in effect removing that choice.
384 | Praying Rather than Cursing | Ex 22:28 | EdB | 242894
"As Reformed folks, we understand that God is in control of every single molecule in the universe. If He were not, then that one uncontrolled molecule might impede His fulfilling a promise. As a person that doesn't hold to the Reformed theology I find it hard to imagine a God that could be impeded by any thing of His creation. God created it all and to think something in that creation could impede God's plan, to me, fails to understand God's full might and power. As for praying for our leaders I agree we must, we are commanded by scriptures to do so. No matter how we might try to justify not doing so, the fact remains unless we do pray for our leaders we are in disobedience. |

385 | why are the Jews God's chosen people? | Genesis | EdB | 242891
The children of Israel (Jews) are in fact the children of Israel (Jacob) the son of Isaac the son of Abraham. God choose and tested Abraham and found great faith. Read Hebrews 11. God cut covenant with Abraham on the behalf of man kind. God promised Abraham in that covenant that Abraham's children would be blessed. Hence the Jews became God's chosen. |

386 | Whose glory is being sought? | 1 Sam 4:3 | EdB | 242869
Remind your friend of Job who served God faithfully and lost everything. Of Moses who had to endure the abuse of the Israelites for 40 years. And of Joseph who was rejected by his family, sold as a slave, slandered, thrown in jail, forgotten. No one said this life is fair the promise of God is we who OVER COME will enjoy eternity in His presence. Never look at your physical life to judge God, look to His promises. He never lies. |

388 | what happened to OT people who died befo | Luke 16:19 | EdB | 242859
Your question was answered. Upon death the righteous that awaited for the Messiah went to Hades but Abraham's bosom where they waited. The unrighteous also went to Hades but to the hot dry side to await judgement. Jesus who is the Messiah upon his death went to Hades and preached the Good News ( the gospel) to the righteous dead in Abraham's bosom. Jesus then lead them as their Messiah to heaven. In my last response to your question I gave all the bible references. Read through them again. Now who says that isn't the answer? Why do they say that? What do they suggest happened? Again Hades is explained Luke 16:19-31. Eph 4:8 explains Jesus leading those in captivity of death to heaven. 1Peter 3:19, 1 Peter 4:6 tells of Jesus preaching to dead. |

Doc sorry it took so long to get back to you but the alligators were out in full force. I like the Song of the Three Children and the Prayer of Manasses. But praise and Worship of God is spread throughout out the Apocrypha as it is in the Deuterocannical canon and some Apocryphas which includes the wonderful Prayer of Azariah. In my opinion both canons should be mandatory reading of every Christian. But only after they have read through the Bible multiple times |

All the gifts you mention are temporal, they die when the receptant of them dies. This passage is not talking of temporal gifts it is talking of an eternal gift and there is only one eternal gift SALVATION! The gifts you mention are given to man by God through the Holy Spirit. They are good gifts but they aren't the precious gift Jesus gave us, bought with His own blood. Salvation is the greatest gift given to man by a loving God. Man can survive without any of those things you mentioned but man can not absolutely can not survive with salvation. |

394 | PLZ ANSWER IM YOUNG AND HAVE TO KNOW!!!! | Bible general | EdB | 242805
Jesus took them to heaven. So any that He raised before his death and resurrection were still in Hades, the holding place of the dead. Read about it Luke 16:19-31. And then read Eph 4:8 Jesus lead captivity to heaven. Paul confirms to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. 2 Cor. 5:8. The righteous the Lord returns for are those that have not died. |

395 | PLZ ANSWER IM YOUNG AND HAVE TO KNOW!!!! | Bible general | EdB | 242798
2 Cor 5:6-8 clearly states that when we who are in Christ are absent from our bodies, dead, we are present with the Lord who is in heaven. Abraham's bosom the resting place for the righteous dead is empty. Jesus lead them to heaven. Eph 4:8. 8 Therefore He says: "When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men. Jesus lead captivity ( those held by death) captive (Jesus bought us with His blood) to heaven, where he gave us the freedom from death. |

Satan was defeated at the cross. If we are I. Christ we are God's children and God loves us. God does not test us. James 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. Our flesh is our problem. Pal told us he battled the flesh. |

Perhaps you are getting a lesson in patience. :-) I have experienced people that frazzled me, but I managed to keep my patience and abide my time. Then suddenly God opens a door they can not shut and fantastic things happen. Don't beat a dead horse just remain available to him and let God be God. |
