Hello L4W2H, Thats the whole point! you cant! No-one can! None are good, no, not one! You can't keep the first commandment, never mind the rest of them! You see my friend every religion in the world is based on works, i.e. what you do to get yourself fixed up, so you can measure up, to God. problem is, you cant measure up to an all holly God. Compared to Jesus, the only one who ever lived a life as a man, and lived it without sin, anything that we can do is like filthy rags! Compared to Jesus there is no way we can stack up! If you think you can stand before God, with a handful of good works, and say look here God, Look what I did! pretty good, huh? Do you want to risk that my friend? Not me! Jesus Himself says in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. Sounds pretty good huh? Do want Jesus? He's asking you? Do you? Why don't you quit messing around and take Him at His word my friend? He is not a lier, He is not crazy, He's real, and I 'know' He's real, and so do untold myriad of people throughout the ages. Huh? What are you looking for? How are you going to know how something tastes, unless you eat it? Christianity is not a religion, its a way to life! God bless. John |

397 | Hell! | Matt 8:12 | stjohn | 185776
Hello mae, The Bible does in fact speak of hell as a place of outer darkness, more then of a place of fire. Hear are a few verses. Matt 8:12 but the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Matt 22:13 "Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' Matt 25:30 "Throw out the worthless slave into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. It seems that our view of hell is colored with many movies and stories that we hear, but the Bible doesn't really teach this. Revelation does mention a lake of fire reserved for the anti Christ his wittiness and satin. we can be sure that hell is no-were we want to go. But imagine this, going to hell and hearing the voice of a son or daughter saying. "I followed you hear mom or dad." God bless. John |

Hi kmo, Here is something that may clear the air on this subject, I hope it helps. God bless John Matthew 10:11 Ver. 11. "And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter,.... As Christ had instructed them in what manner they were to travel, so he directs them where to go, and who to ask for, and take up their abode with, in the several towns and villages to which they should come; that as soon as they had entered any town or village, they should, in the first place, inquire, who in it is worthy; not of them, as the Arabic version reads, nor of the Gospel they preached, or of the grace of God, of which no man is worthy: and besides, who could answer to such a question when asked? Who in any town, or city, could tell who in it were worthy of Christ, of his Gospel, and ministers, to which they were all equally strangers before they came among them? Nor does it mean a man famous for piety and religion, or one that feared God, and was a worshipper of him, but an hospitable man; one that was very liberal; who was willing and ready to entertain strangers; for such a man they would want, having neither money nor food: and so the same word, in the Hebrew language, signifies "to be worthy", and "to give alms", because an eleemosynary man, or a man given to alms, was reckoned by the Jews a very worthy man: they thought giving of alms to be a matter of merit".-- John Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible. |

400 | did elijah forerun christ's 2nd coming? | Matt 11:14 | stjohn | 214506
It's not clear what it is you meant by, DID Elijah forerun Christ's 2nd coming? Some believe however, that Elijah will be one of the two witnesses in Revelation 11 but the Bible does not say for sure. And it is not really known, or agreed on, whether the two will forerun His 2nd coming. I happen to think they will not, but thats not really worth very much, since the Bible doesn't really say. John |
