342 | Temple in Rev 4? | Hag 2:9 | Mommapbs | 30872
Greetings Nolan! Do you think that Revelation 4 is a first peek at the Heavenly Temple? John is caught up into Heaven and describes the Throne of God and the worship taking place there. Comments?
343 | Discuss "a form of godliness?" | Acts 2:17 | Mommapbs | 30517
Greetings EdB! How would you define "holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power"? Could this describe a church that places little or no emphasis on corporate prayer? What about fellowships that embrace a cessationist view of the gifts of the Holy Spirit? Looking for some answers . . .Mommapbs

346 | Sprinkles not the outpouring? | Joel 2:28 | Mommapbs | 29571
After considering the preceding verses in Joel, I'm wondering if this final outpouring of the Spirit will be AFTER the rapture of the church? (I'm a pre-wrath believer!)Could it be that we are only experiencing some "sprinkles" during these "last days?"
347 | Who are these people thatJesus condemns? | Matt 7:22 | Mommapbs | 28891
Who are these people who prophesy, cast out demons and perform miracles in His name, and yet Jesus says in the following verse that "He never knew them"? Some suspect that these people were not under the Lordship of Christ at the time that they did these things, for Jesus said that they acted wickedly - lawless, rebellious to His authority. It can be confusing if we read Romans 10:13 which declares,"All those who call on the Name of the Lord will be saved." But the confusion clears when we recognize that this passage refers to the time of judgement. This heightens our sense of urgency to be discerning doesn't it? Could it be that in spite of their spectacular "ministry," they never called on the Name of the Lord until "that day?" Perhaps the key is that THEY did these things in Jesus name, not Jesus IN them! 348 | Sumission to authority? | Heb 13:17 | Mommapbs | 28649
How do I recognize my Pastor's authority over me if I cannot agree with everything that He teaches? Am I causing him grief by refusing to accept his interpretation of an area that we differ on? Because he has set certain prerequisites for ministry that I do not agree with, is my voluntary removal from serving akin to submission to his authority? I'm waiting on God for these answers, but if anyone feels led to be His instrument to clarify things, I'd welcome your input! If he is accountable to God for me, would it be best to part company if I can't agree with his teaching? Wouldn't this be profitable for both of us? |

351 | Competition for our love Rev. 2:4-5 | Bible general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 27662
In Revelation 2:4, could Mary, the mother of Jesus be the competition for our love the Lord is referring to? If you will recall, the Apostle John was charged with Mary's care by Jesus as He was dying. 'From that hour the disciple took her into his own household.' John 19:27 Most of us know that John wrote The Revelation of Jesus Christ while he was exiled on Patmos, but many probably don't know that he was exiled from his position as the "bishop" at Ephesus. If John had relocated from Jerusalem to Ephesus, it is safe to assume that Mary, being in his care, accompanyied him also. And,according to historians, the house that John provided for Mary is still standing in Ephesus. In fact, it has become a shrine. In Revelation 2:4 and 5, following His condemnation, 'But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.', Jesus counsels and warns us with these words,'Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place--unless you repent.' Putting this scripture together with historical references it is possible to conclude that perhaps Ephesus was the genesis point of where the love for Jesus was eclipsed by the adoration of His mother,Mary. The Ephesians did not heed the Lord's admonition to return to their first love, in fact, first church they built in Ephesus was not dedicated to the Lord, but to Mary instead! Obviously they did not repent, for true to the Lord's warning, today there is no church in Ephesus! It is a dead city - not a soul lives there! |

354 | Compare the annointings of Jesus? | NT general Archive 1 | Mommapbs | 25698
The instance of Jesus being annointed as recorded in Matthew 6: 6-13, John 12:1-8, and Mark 14:2-9 was just prior to His crucifixion. It is different from the anointing as described in Luke 7:36-50. John 11:2 indicates that Mary, the sister of Lazarus did the annointing. The account in Luke places Jesus in the home of Simon (the pharisee) and the annointing was done by a woman with a sinful past - was this a polite term for prostitution? Could this have been Mary Magdalene? It is interesting to note that Mary, the sister of Lazarus, followed the example of a prostitute!Comments on this welcomed! |

355 | Church growth measured by numbers in pew | Matt 18:20 | Mommapbs | 25008
Our congregation has been told that we need to increase the size of our facility to accomodate the projected growth of the church. Many people are coming to the church, but few are coming forward. Any comments?

357 | What are differences in theologies? | OT general | Mommapbs | 23548
In reading notes and answers on this forum it is evident that authors depend upon their underlying theology to support their position.
