261 | Whose will causes a believer to sin? | Rev 13:8 | John Reformed | 87983
Dear Tim, In a certain sense, I see no diffence between Herod sinning and my sinning. We both followed our wicked desire. We both sinned for our own evil reason but in my case: Rom 7:17 So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. Rom 7:20 But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. Friend Tim... I know that you must agree with me when I say that in the lives of those who love Him and have been called according to His purpose, That God causes all things to work together for good. All means all, does it not? Sin is a thing that occurs in our lives, does it not? Then God has predestined that sin...not for evil...but for good. What does make the diffence between the unregenerate and the saint is our response to sin. We hate it after we do it! We feel as if we had betrayed our Lord and made a mockery of our profession. We fear our Father's discipline and are ashamed of ourselves. We are granted repentance and forgiveness and pray for the grace to grow in holiness. God used sin as the means of providing salvation for His people. He also may use it to work humility and gratitude in these same people. So the answer to both questions is Yes. John |

263 | Isn't every word of God vital to us? | Rev 17:16 | John Reformed | 59650
Dear Pastor Glenn, " Was it "speculation" that allowed the wise men to recognize Jesus' star at His birth? Or wasit a deep analysis of every word of the Hebrew scriptures(the Old Testament)." God has not revealed to us every thing we would like to know, only that which we need to know. When we depart from scripture, we enter into speculation. Speculation in itself is can be a dangerous exercise. It can lead to the sinful practice of reading the scripture in the "light" of man's wisdom. 1 Cor 3:19 "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, 'He is THE ONE WHO CATCHES THE WISE IN THEIR CRAFTINESS';" When all is said and don Pastor Glenn, from whom do we recieve our worldly news from? We recieve from the world! They are the one's who take the pictures, write the stories, provide the commentary, and as we know , spin it however they want. Brother John |

264 | Does this mean that it is wrong to ask? | Rev 17:16 | John Reformed | 59794
Dear Pastor Glenn, You asked "Does this mean that it is wrong to ask the question as to whether Al-Qaeda or others that hate the Lamb (Christianity and Israel) and the Harlot that rides the beast could be part of Rev 17? I must answer your question with a question: How would it profit the furtherence of the Kingdom of God? Speculative teaching, especialy from the pulpit or from church leaders, may interest those with itching ears but: 2Ti 4:2 "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine." 265 | Does this mean that it is wrong to ask? | Rev 17:16 | John Reformed | 59860
Pastor Glenn, You asked: " Who really was it that held the Christian Missionaries hostage in Afganistan last year? And who really destroyed the twin towers in New York? Or did these things really happen? I will answer your last question first. Yes it really did happen. The christian missionaries were held by the ruling goverment of afghanistan, the Talaban. And, the Twin Towers were destroyed by Al-qaeda. Like all unregenerate people, they do the bidding of their father, the devil. It is only the grace of God that prevented you or I or any other son of Adam from being party to the hi-jacking. These are the human agents responsible for this evil act. Now, I think you will agree that the worst atrocity ever commited by the hand of man was The Crucifixtion of The Lord of Glory. It was perpertrated by Romans, Jews and other Gentiles. But the Bible says it happened because it was God's eternal plan for the salvation of His people. Acts 4:27-28 "For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose predestined to occur." God pre-destined the calamity in New York. Not for the evil motive the terrorists had but for His own good purpose. Amos 3:6-7 "If a trumpet is blown in a city will not the people tremble? If a calamity occurs in a city has not the LORD done it? Surely the Lord GOD does nothing Unless He reveals His secret counsel To His servants the prophets." Pastor Glenn, you used several scriptures (1 John 4:3, 2 John 1:7 and 1 Cor 13:12). These passages tell us the identity of the spirit of anti-christ. What do we need in addition to them? Nothing except the enlightment of the Holy Spirit. Is 45:7 "The One forming light and creating darkness, Causing well-being and creating calamity; I am the LORD who does all these." I now ask: Of what importance is vain speculation? If God wants me or you to know the identity of anti-christ or the ten kings or any thing else, He will make it quite clear. We will find the answer in His Word and not in the newspapers. John |
