Hello Valspapa, I hate to be the bearer of more bad tidings but it sounds like you are looking for an advice column and you stumbled onto a Bible forum. I’m sure if you would ask a biblical question there would be someone on the forum that could give you a good answer with chapter and verse. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Have a great day CDBJ |

264 | Ho do we know that it was the angel.... | Gen 32:1 | CDBJ | 198405
Greetings Rachellynn, You made the statement; I came to the conclusion that you wrote above, but how do I convince someone else of that? For starters, the post that you are referring to is over five years old. Secondly, the Bible doesn’t need defending, as it were. It’s the work of the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth of God’s Word to individuals. John 6:45 (A) It is written in the prophets, 'And they shall all be taught by God. John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. Trying to defend a weapon doesn’t make a whole lot of sense when you stop and think about it! If you are attacked by someone that is trying to kill you and your holding a 44magnum you don’t stand there and explain the fundamentals of a 240 grain projectile moving out at over 1500 fps, the best advice is to just keep pulling the trigger until they stop. Ephes. 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; One of the biggest problems nowadays is that people don’t know how to handle a 44 magnum or you could say they aren’t very proficient as swordsmen. As unbelievers the only thing they can understand is the gospel message of Christ. As believers we understand that all of God’s Word is Truth and we stand in judgment of it, it never stands in judgment of us. I sure hope you get my drift on this, CDBJ |

265 | Rhantizo vs. Baptizo- Synonyms? | NT general | CDBJ | 198404
Hi Bob, I don’t mean to be disrespectful but when you suggested that idea I was picturing John and all of his followers standing in a pitcher of water and calling it the Jordan, in the days when he was baptizing. Matthew 3:5-6 Then Jerusalem, all Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him 6and were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins. Have fun, CDBJ |

267 | Why do we suffer so much for God's glory | NT general | CDBJ | 197971
Greetings Daytona, Do you think, with regards to suffering, that those who are living godly lives should escape the following facts? 2 Tim. 3:12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. Once a person is found out to be an enemy of a country how are they expected to be treated? As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ we are strangers living in a strange and “hostel” land but; 2 Cor. 5:20 (A) Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, 1 Peter 2:11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, This isn’t our true homeland when we trust in Jesus but we are still living in the devils world and the world hates us! I find it interesting to note the following in the first verse that I pointed out. 2 Tim. 3:12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. ((all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus)) Not in a denomination, or a religion but “in Christ Jesus”! Have a great day, CDBJ |

268 | Why is there a skull next to St.Francis? | NT general | CDBJ | 197905
Greetings and welcome to the forum, There is no mention in the Bible of a St Frances and the only place in the New Testament that speaks of a skull is in the following. Matthew 27:33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull, Mark 15:22 And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull. John 19:17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: I think you will find the forum is more directed toward the Bible then any specific religions or denominational belief, many of which a very far removed form Scripture. I hope you enjoy the forum and have a Merry Christmas, CDBJ |

269 | Where or what scripture says that He doe | Acts | CDBJ | 197900
Greetings and Merry Christmas, Try to understand the object for the healing and the miracles that took place. The completed Bible wasn’t finished yet and the healings opened the eyes of those that witnessed these acts and as a result the Apostles were able to present the message of Christ. It was like having credentials from God as to who the Apostles represented. Paul had the gift of healing but even he came a point in time when this gift ceased to function as evidenced by the following verse. 2 Tim. 4:20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick. Today with all those that “claim” to have this particular gift, how many of them do you know, that are over 200 years old? God can still heal all that He desires with out the use men and, "He will" accomplish His divine intended purpose! CDBJ |

272 | Confused! | Prov 3:6 | CDBJ | 197370
Greetings, You might want to consider the following with regards to the seed? Luke 8:4-15 And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable: 5A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. 6And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. 7And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. 8And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 9And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? 10And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. 11Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 14And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 15But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. 273 | Holy wars? | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 197094
I stand firm on what the Word of God says! Psalm 144:1 A Psalm of David. Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: I don’t want to continue this discussion, that would in any way diminish what the noble military of this country has persevered through wars that have been fought to defend the rights of “grateful people”! Matthew 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. End of discussion, CDBJ |

274 | From what place was Romans written? | NT general | CDBJ | 197066
Greetings PJ and welcome to the forum. Paul, from all indications, wrote the letter to the Church of Rome from Corinth. He sent he letter to inform them of his intended visit on his journey to Spain. Romans 15:24 Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company. The letter was to be delivered by, Romans 16:1 I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea: It is speculated that Paul wrote the letter somewhere between 57 and 58 AD. There is usually a good reference with regards to this info just before each book in a good study Bible, which is where I found this info. I hope this helps and I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

275 | why join army? | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 197062
Greetings, This has been a bad distortion of the Bible for years. God’s Word says we are not “commit murder”. cf Psalm 144:1 A Psalm of David. Blessed be the LORD, my rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle; There is a very well documented situation concerning the Moravian Indians. They were miss informend when evangelized to the point that they even thought it wrong to defend themselves; as a result they were massacred and it has been taught that this single act set the gospel message of Christ back many, many, years with regards to the American Indian Nations. http://www.electricscotland.com/history/canada/kent2.htm This happened in my neck of the woods, CDBJ |

276 | discouraging the use of mediums | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 196897
Greetings and welcome to the forum. Your question is; “Where can I find verses that discourage against the use of mediums and other such people.” The Bible doesn’t “discourage against” as it were, it is an emphatic command “not to do it!” Deut. 18:10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, King Saul thought he might give it a try and look where it landed him. 1 Chron. 10:13-14 So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had committed against the LORD, because he did not keep the word of the LORD, and also because he consulted a medium for guidance. 14But he did not inquire of the LORD; therefore He killed him, and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse. I’d say that was pretty emphatic and one that messes with that stuff is going to get burnt. I sure hope you enjoy the forum! CDBJ |
