241 | all of old testament that is in the new | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 200732
Greetings RosaLee and welcome to the forum. Suppose, as the Old Testament affirms; there is a priceless treasure waiting for “you personally”. Would you like to have the exact location and instructions to that treasure, as the New Testament point out? Matthew 13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. 242 | Is man the founder of religion? | Heb 12:2 | CDBJ | 200710
Greetings and welcome to the forum. Man is indeed the founder of religion. When man tries to deceive God it is religion and the first one to do it was Adam. One could say it was a cloak of “supposed deception” and Adam was the first to use camouflage but God can’t be deceived. Genesis 3:7-8 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. 8And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 246 | Seeing things? | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 200063
Greetings, How does one actually differentiate between a vision and a dream? Be that as it may, if it is contrary to what is stated in Scripture it is in opposition to the Word of God and it can’t be truth even though the experience might have been very real to the one having the vision or dream. At any rate it’s a good opportunity to witness for the Lord to the person if they don’t know Christ personally. Matthew 22:44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? Scripture states that Christ is still “seated” at the right of the Father. Scripture does point out that a believer was escorted when he left this life but the escorts are angels and it doesn’t say if this is always the case with believers. Luke 16:22 (A) So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. My understanding, CDBJ |

250 | "easter" ? | NT general | CDBJ | 199493
Greetings, We do have the word Easter used in the English translation. Acts 12:4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. The word in the Koine Greek is as follows, pascha, Greek 3957, Strong’s pascha, pas'-khah; of Chaldee origin [compare Hebrew 6453 (pecach)]; the Passover (the meal, the day, the festival or the special sacrifices connected with it) :- Easter, Passover. 251 | MY SALVATION | NT general | CDBJ | 199250
Greetings, I’m not quite sure what you mean about the heart, unless you meant to say deceive but you typed “DECEASES” by accident? For starters when you write in upper case letters it’s twice as hard to read and it gives the impression that you are screaming at us. It's kind of an unwritten law to use lower case on the forum if you would pleas? It’s one thing to call a person a liar in a court of law, but to say that God is a liar is a whole different matter. Consider what the following verses are telling us! 1 John 5:10-13 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. 11And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. Those aren’t feelings being spoken of, they are facts based on what God says in His Word! 2 Tim. 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. Now if people in a court of law don’t want to believe God Word, the Bible, they will wake up some day with God’s Son residing on the bench at their trial, and lack of unbelief, will have a far greater lasting effect! John 5:22 For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, Luke 12:4-5 "And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. 5But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him! 254 | How can I get back the fire...? | Acts 8:39 | CDBJ | 198971
Greetings EJM and welcome to the forum. Forget about the fire feelings stuff just stick with taking in God’s precious Word and give it back to those in your periphery with patience and joy instructing those that appose themselves. I remember when I was a new believer in Jesus and I was so excited about what I had found in Christ that everybody was going to listen “to me” or else. I muddied so much water in those early days of my Christian life, with all “my” attempts, to get everyone saved that I am still hearing about it and it’s been over 40 years now. I would Bible whip people thinking that I could convince them if I’d just push enough Scripture down their throat. They would listen. It Didn’t work. Weather believers understand it or not, “all” believers are in full time Christian service. 1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: The Lord uses prepared people. So be one by studying so you can pass it out. If you have any Biblical questions that have you stumped don’t be afraid to ask them on the forum. We will do all we can to help, I Hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

255 | monastcism (change in/true nods? | NT general | CDBJ | 198905
Greetings, You are asking about a word, “monasticism”, which is actually antithetical to what the Bible teaches. Those that have the “true” message of the gospel of Christ want to get out and share it, not go into seclusion and hide and try to gain the approval God and find something they haven’t got yet. The way I see it grace and monasticism are like oil and water, they don’t mix. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. Those that have experienced a “true” relationship with Jesus are like one poor beggar telling another pore beggar where he can find food. Matthew 5:14-16 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. 256 | Did Jesus baptize anyone? | John 4:2 | CDBJ | 198831
Hi Skip, This verse isn't a reference to water baptism per se but it is a real baptism performed by Jesus. Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. I was taught that “everyone, individually,” will receive a baptism by Jesus. As born again believers in Christ we are baptized with the Spirit. On the other hand, all unbelievers will receive a baptism of fire at some point in their future. Those are two very antithetical baptisms but the very same Jesus. It’s interesting in the original language of the New Testament that the word BAPTIZO is in the "indicative mood", which means it is a certainty and will be a “reality”. Enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

257 | God into my life? | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 198808
Greetings Oakeyroad, What you are telling us is FANTASTIC news keep it up!! Do worry about a lot of the big words that you hear in Christian circles. The best thing I can tell you has already been suggested by Doc. Ask God to reveal His Word to you and learn all you can about Jesus! 2 Peter 3:18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. CDBJ |

258 | 'Dying you shall surely die'? | Gen 2:17 | CDBJ | 198807
Greetings Royfish316 and welcome to the forum. I was taught the meaning of Gen 2:17 exactly the same way you have it listed. I think if my memory serves me right, that the words “'Dying you shall surely die”, comes from the Hebrew construct and I would like to find that translation as well. I believe the English form of that would be as follows: Because of their disobedience, i.e. eating the forbidden fruit, their spirit died that very day and it set in motion and action that would result in their finally dying physically. Genesis 5:5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died. I was taught this when I was a young Christian close to forth years ago while listening to tapes from a pastor in Huston Texas, who was very well versed in the Hebrew language. The end results are that Adam, through procreation, wasn’t able to pass on a living spirit; that part of man that communicates with God and understands His message; thus the need to be born again. 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Couple that with: John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. The word (SEE) or (EIDO) in the Koine Greek could be literal or figurative and mean understanding. I sorry I can’t help you further but I hope you enjoy the forum. CDBJ |

Greetings, It’s not a passive seeking but an aggressive action! Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
