221 | Why doesn't the Bible tell about the 3K? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140365
How would I know if they spoke in tongues. The bible do not say one way or the other. The bible, also do not verify that they received the Holy Ghost (Spirit). You seem to asume that they did because the bible says they was added. That in itself do not mean that they received the Holy Ghost. I never said that speaking in other tongues was a KNOWN language of the listeners or not. If you are being filled with the Holy Ghost. Who cares. You seem to put a lot on it.You think I sit around wondering what Language I was Speaking when I was Filled. Its the Wind (Spirit) not the movement of the leaves that is most important.
222 | underlying question in these "..tongues" | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140364
Butt in anytime. I do it all the time (smile). The discussion is not on the gift of tongues. It is on the gift of the Holy Spirit If one have the gift of tongues. They can speak at will and have control of their spirit. On the other hand, some (Me) know that when one is filled with the Holy Ghost for the first time. They speak in other tongues as the Spirit of God gives the utterance and that the speaker is not in control. This do not mean that they have recieved the gift of tongues but that they have in fact received the Holy Ghost (Spirit) Same as they did at the day of Pentecost. Others disagree. |

223 | Individuals seeking, expecting tongues? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140363
The bible also does not say that they was saved. It also does not say that they recieved the Holy Ghost. It says they was added. It did not say that they completed the process in Acts 2:38. A good excample if Simon. He was a beleiver Acts 8:13. But, do you see where the Apostles laid hands on him. Do you really believe that he received the Holy Ghost (Spirit) with the condition of his heart?
224 | Spiritual Gifts | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140361
Could you please tell me what is wrong with Acts 2:38. Which I believe is the most direct and clear Passages in the bible as to what one must do the recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost (Spirit). I have been told to "believe" and you shall recieve it . I have been told to accept Christ and I will recieve it. Confess with your mouth and believe in you heart. But no one seems to want to believe Peter in Acts 2:38
225 | Is speaking in tongues THE only sign? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140360
"With"is correct. I stand corrected. Thank You!

228 | Spiritual Gifts | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140357
You read Acts 11 and that is all you got. Then I give up. I can be of no use to you.
229 | Spiritual Gifts | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140349
I believe that if you receive the Holy Spirit the outward manifestation will take care of it self. After all Peter did not preach speaking in tongues, he did preach the True Gospel. And as a result people did recieve the Holy Spirit. But, you are right, you can't be saved without receiving the Holy Spirit.
230 | Saved w/o receiving the Spirit? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140348
What do the Scriptures say?
231 | Filled w/ Him always mean tongues? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140347
In Acts 4:8-17 Peter is not recieving the Holy Ghosts. He is filled (FULL) with the Holy Ghost. Peter recieved the Holy Ghost in the upper room and yes, he did speak in tongues. As for Acts 4:31. I do believe that they did speak and that is omitted. However if God shakes the place. Who am I to argue. |

232 | Is speaking in tongues THE only sign? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140343
What happens when one receive the Holy Spirit. Is there a outward manifestation? What happens when one if "Baptised of the Holy Spirit" if there an outward manifestation. I have never heard anyone make a distinction before.
233 | Individuals seeking, expecting tongues? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140342
You are right on target. No where do you see it. And if everyone on this forum would do what Peter commanded in Acts 2:38, it will not have to be discuss here either.
234 | Spiritual Gifts | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140341
So, you see a difference in being filled with the Spirit and receiving the Holy Spirit? And you believe you can be saved without recieving the Holy Spirit or before you receive the Holy Spirit. Do I have that correct? I am not trying to debate as I have be told. I am just trying to understand where you are coming from.
235 | Is speaking in tongues THE only sign? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140340
I was all but begged to post my beliefs and this is one reason I did not want to. Now, ever change you get (meaning you along with others) try to use it against me. Where did I say anything about my denomination (as you call it)other than when asked or in one case when I need to identify myself to a babe in Christ. Also, there are many denominations with the same beliefs.
236 | Did the 3,000 speak in tongues? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140339
Did the Bible say the 3,000 received the Holy Ghost? The bible do not say that Paul spoke in tongues when he recieved the Holy Ghost. But we find him saying, he spoke more than them all. Acts 2:4 says they spoke in tongues (all those in the upper room) along with Acts 19:5 that makes, Four. Simon saw them recieve the Holy Ghost. If there is no outward manifestation, how is this possible?
237 | Is praying aloud together Biblical? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140336
Because I said I know the difference between being filled with the Holy Ghost and the Gift of Tongues. You call me arrogant. If I had made that statement to anyone in our Church that have received the Holy Ghost. Their reply would not have been how "arrogant" it more likely would have been "so can I". So we are of the same mind. |

238 | Is praying aloud together Biblical? | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140335
Because I speak the Truth and know what I am talking about. How do you think I know these things, by my own power as if I gave myself the Holy Ghost? Now, you probably think that I am even more arrogant. And boast in myself, and not in God. So, let God judge.
239 | Spiritual Gifts | 1 Cor 13:8 | jcsav | 140334
First of all the audience matters very much. It matter in bible study who is speaking, what is the subject and who they are speaking to. There is a diffence between a regenerated heart and one that is not. Second, I can show you that what Peter says in Acts 2:38 Do include the Spirit baptism. Read Acts 11:16-17. |
