221 | Advice and encouragement | 2 Tim 2:15 | Searcher56 | 229479
God's day to you, julcol87, and welcome to the SBF, You are not the first to come to the SBF that is married to a member of a cult. We will pray for you. You husband may only knows what he has been taught. Russellites (based on JW's founder) don't like to look at the CONTEXT of what they resd (but based on what I posted below, take care when you tlak with him). I copied this from http://www.culthelp.info/ You should: -Love your spouse with the same fervour as when you were first married. -Don’t give up it could take a long time. However while your spouse is living with you and you are communicating in love you are in a strong position. -Don’t let go. Understand that your partner still loves you but that they have been deceived into allowing the organization to control their life. They genuinely believe they are serving God and are prepared to give up everything for Him. Unfortunately they have not come to know true Christianity but the false web of the Watchtower Society. That web does need to be broken but please recognize in the process that the desire to serve God is real. -Find out what the Watchtower Organization teaches (Reachout Trust http://www.reachouttrust.org/ has a number of publications that can help) and how they control their members. This will help you to understand your spouse better and know how to react in a given situation. -Don’t bring out into a vacuum. The fact that they have responded to the Watchtower message shows that your spouse has an interest in knowing more about true Christianity. You cannot just take them out into ’nothing’ - this means that it would be good for you to check out the true message of the Bible as well and discover what it means to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and not with an organization. Find some local Christians or contact Reachout Trust to help you in this aspect. -Find your nearest support group. There may not always be a group but Reachout Trust could probably put you in touch with someone near you who certainly understands and can therefore help you and your spouse. We know some who have been through similar situations themselves and they could write to you and/or your spouse if that will help. ... Let me add, while we will provide support, it is limited, because we don't see your face. Also, have your pastor direct you. Are there any Do’s and Don’ts? -DON’T, at first, let your spouse find any anti Jehovah’s Witness material. Whatever you obtain, read it yourself and then present the facts in your own words. Do not stick the book under their nose or even leave it lying around. -DO leave positive Christian books lying around and on the bookshelf. Simple books that talk about salvation and testimony books of those whose lives have been totally changed (NOT ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses at first!) by coming to know Christ as their personal Saviour. -DO seek that true relationship with Jesus Christ yourself so that you are able to pray properly for your spouse. -DON’T remain a loner. Contact us to find those who can support and help you at this time Here is something you should look at ... be careful, when you do ... http://www.witnessinc.com/answering_jw_s.html Your husband may think you betrayed him ... http://www.watchtower.org/e/20100615/article_01.htm Stay around, share what you are learning in the Word, Searcher |

222 | when will tribulation/rapture occur | Matthew | Searcher56 | 229463
God's day to you, fundyg, and welcome to the SBF, There are three basic views on the relation of the tribulation and the rapture: 1. Post-tribulationists say the rapture occurs at end of the seven year tribulation. 2. Mid-tribulationists say the rapture will occur 3.5 years into the tribulation. 3. Pre-tribulationists say the rapture will occur prior to the tribulation. This has caused divisions. It also has been discussed (TOO) many times at the SBF. Searcher |

223 | when did jesus ascend into heaven? | Acts | Searcher56 | 229462
Scripture ... Mar 16:19; Act 1:9-11, 7:55; 1Ti 3:16 ... Jesus was went to heaven after his resurrection (Mar 16:19; Act 1:9-11) and was seen by Stephen (Act 7:55) and is a confession (1Ti 3:16). In Luke 23:43 Jesus said, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise." Some think that is heaven (2Co 12:4, Rev 2:7). In John 20:17, He says he had not yet ascended to His Father. It may be that He had gone up to another place. Searcher |

227 | What is meant by anointed? | 1 Sam 10:1 | Searcher56 | 229424
Continuing ... 1 John 2:27 is another reference of the spiritual anointing. Revelation 3:18 could be looked at as spiritual, too. Christ was anointed and is our High Priest (Luk 4:17; Act 10:37; Heb 1:9, 3:1, 4:14-15, 5:1-10, 6:20, 7:1, 7:26, 8:1-3, 9:7-25, 13:11). Looking at the OT, priests were anointed for service (Exo 28:41, 29:1, 30:30, 40:13-15; Lev 6:1, 7:35-36, 8:12; Num 3:3), as well as kings (Jdg 9:7-15; 1Sa 9:16, 10:1, 15:1, 15:17, 16:3, 16:12-13, 24:6, 26:9-11; 2Sa 1:14-16, 3:39, 12:7, 19:21; 1Ki 1:34-45, 19:15-16; Psa 20:6) … it was to consecrate them for their service. Elisha was anointed to be a prophet (1Ki 19:16). Jacob the anointed the pillar at Bethel (Gen 31:13). After we fast we are anoint our head and wash our face (Mat 6:17). It is to get clean, as seen in Psalm 23:5. David anointed himself after mourning so he could worship (2Sa 12:20). Anointing is medicinal, Jesus anointed the sick (Mar 6:13, Jhn 9:11) ... we are to do the same (Jam 5:14). It also is used for burial (Mar 14:8, 16:1). There are several times anointing is seen in the Bible. Searcher |

228 | What is meant by anointed? | 1 Sam 10:1 | Searcher56 | 229423
God's day to you, Ms. N. O., and welcome to the SBF, First, Benny Hinn and others think there is a contemporary concept of anointing, based on Acts 1:8. Hinn says "The anointing is the power of God" (Hinn, Benny. The Anointing. Nashville: Thomas Nelson. 1992. 74.) ... since Holy Spirit anoints the believer and empowers the believer; therefore, anointing equals being empowered ... but anointing is position not power. 230 | Continued slander | 1 Cor 4:13 | Searcher56 | 229326
God's day to you, searchingfollower, and welcome to the SBF, As I was typing, I am torn between if I should answer. This may be giving counsel, whih we avoid at the SBF. So with that, I say go seek wise Christian counsel ... and if there is someone that knows you both, it may be better. Here are some more verses: "Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, a people in whose heart is My law; do not fear the reproach of man, nor be dismayed at their revilings" (Isa 51:7). "Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me" (Mat 5:11). "If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you" (1Pe 4:14). For me, when I deal with difficult people -I pray in the morning, asking God for insight ... and again before I meet before we meet, when I know we will. -I carefully ask others to pray for me. -When we meet, I listen to God, for what to do and say ... for His glory and that the other one knows I am a Christian by my love. 231 | How did Moses know he was Jewish? | Ex 2:8 | Searcher56 | 229318
God's day to you, spriceles2, and I add my welcome, The Bible does not say how Moses knew that the Hebrew (not Jewish at this point) people were his people, expect God did tell him (Exo 3:6). I am not sure of the soure of the movies, like The Ten Commandments, where he finds out in the palace. Pharaoh's daughter knew he was Hebrew. The Bible doesn't even say it was because of the swaddling cloth, as The Ten Commandments says. Some say could be the Egyptians of the time looked different than the Hebrew, but Jethro's daughter's thought he was Egyptian (Exo 2:19). His mother may have told him before she sent him back to the palace (Exo 2:7-10). "When Moses had grown up, that he went out to his brethren and looked on their hard labors; and he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren" (Exo 2:11). But did he know at that time or was that the point he knew he was different? Searcher |

233 | Looking of resources on Altar Ministry | 1 Tim 2:1 | Searcher56 | 229301
God's day to you, EdB, For me, when I hear someone mention a need, I ask if we can get away and pray. If it is a female, I make sure there it is in a place where others can see. I ask if I can write it down, so I can remember I ask if I can share their needs with my friends ... how confidential they want the request. I ask if they would like to get together in a few days or a week ... and if they want others to join. I maintain a list. Also, if I hear/see of a need, like the floods after Ireene ... I add them to my list. 236 | is there a true image of god or jesus? | Col 1:15 | Searcher56 | 229261
Scripture ... Gen 1:26-27, 5:1; Eph 4:24; Col 3:10 ... God's day to you, michelle72 and welcome to the SBF, Man was reated in the image of God (Gen 1:26-27, 5:1) ... and we are to be His image (Eph 4:24; Col 3:10). However, we do not know what God pictorially looks like. When we see pictures of God/Jesus it is based on what the maker wants. Note that Seth was the image of Adam, not God (Gen 5:3). Searcher |

238 | What does the bible say about near death | Acts 14:19 | Searcher56 | 229238
Scripture ... Act 14:19-20; 2Co 12:1-4 ... God's day to you, DNR, and welcome to the SBF, While I think Paul may have died (Act 14:19-20), his acount of being in heaven (2Co 12:1-4) may not have been as the result. Others do believe the passage in Corinthians is about his death experience in Acts. Jesus died and returned to life. He is the only one who stayed alive: * The widow's son (1Ki 17:19-24). * The Shunammite's son (2Ki 4:32-35). * A man whose body had been placed in Elisha's tomb (2Ki 13:21). * Lazarus (Joh 11:43-44). * The ruler's daughter (Mat 9:23-26). * Many people at the moment when Jesus died(Mat 27:51-53) * Tabitha (Act 9:36-43). * Eutychus (Act 20:9-10). The Rich Man and Lazarus (Luk 16:14-31) is a parable about two who have died. Searcher |

239 | Is Ishmael the father is Islam? | Gen 21:21 | Searcher56 | 229220
God's day to you, MWLaine, and welsom to the SBF. This is not a Biblical question. The Biblr says that Ishmael settled in Paran, not Mecca … and married an Egyptian, not an Arab. (Gen 21:21). Arabs existed before Ishmael, but he may have been a father of several tribes. Ishmael is recognized as an important patriarch and prophet of Islam. He is is mentioned over 10 times in the Qur'an, including his attempt with Abraham to set up the Kaaba in Mecca ... but Mecca and Paran are far apart. Searcher |
