21 | thought on cor 7:12 and 7:15 | 1 Cor 7:39 | wwv | 48658
I was just wondering about Cor 7:15.When it mentions the term "departs" does that mean spiritually or physically(or both!). If we give ourselves to the Lord in full and its more than our spouses are willing to give themselves, is that considered one 'departing' from the other.I mean if we are married to an unbeliever and if we have to compromise our faith are we not in sin.Is it a question of whats more important, following the Lord or compromising to keep a marriage in peace? Or is it more important to follow the Lord whole heartedly (whatever the cost may be), and then if he or she is still willing to live with the believer 'Cor 7:12-13' maybe they do have a deep need for the Lord after all. Or maybe they won't. 'cor 7:16'. The Lord knows. P.S. May God bless all marriages. They are the root of any strong nation. |

23 | should a christian go into night club | 2 Cor 6:17 | wwv | 48665
I don't condone using the idea of 'hitting the night clubs' as an excuse to minister the word of God, at all. But bottom line the Lord knows what your intentions are and where your heart is. And if your trying to sqeeze in a "good time" with doing the Lords' work, you may end up coming across as a hypocryte and doing more damage for your reputation let alone the ministery. On the other hand there are many out there that need and even want to be saved. I believe that wherever you may be at the time, striking an interest or planting a seed may be their way out when they need it most.(and there WILL be a time they need it most).I agree with mks I don't think an in-depth conversation is constructive in those atmospheres.(It is a fine line- be careful). P.S.I also believe theres a great deal of ministry in the way one presents themselves as a beacon of light(the Lords light)and not just another night owl in there follies.Try Ephesians 5
24 | Should women be allowed to preach? | Galatians | wwv | 50151
Dear forum, I've been reading this discussion for a bit and their are some fine points. It would seem that men are continually loosing ground as to any kind of authoritative strength through righteousness. Doesn't it say somewhere that the family hierarchy for leadership is as follows: God the father, Jesus Christ the son, man, woman, then beast. If we consider ourselves as a Christian family shouldn't we want to follow those same guidelines? Isn't it true that men and woman are diff. emotionally. Maybe for playing the appropriate roles in Gods will for a family Well, the two reasons I like men better for preachers are 1)they have a natural 'father figure' authority (i.e. I seem to receive Fathers word more securely from a strict fathers voice), and 2) It says in 1 Tim. 2:14 "And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression." By the way that's not a cultural thing.( I read earlier in regards to that out of date cultural thing, that we don't stone adulterers any more- well don't take this wrong but I wish we had more strict rules on adultery; less abortion, much fewer "dead beat" fathers and mothers, more societal production thru stay together families, etc., etc. I am not saying woman can't preach, I'm saying it's more appropriate scripturally if we want a blameless family and a more pure relationship to the word. Aren’t we trying to stay as pure to the word as possible. God Bless William |
