21 | Baptized in name of Jesus or Trinitarian | Not Specified | godsavs | 184409
I was raised as baptist and was baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I have recently been attending a pentecostal church, and the topic of Baptism emerged. Can someone tell me: 1) Why does the Pentecostal faith focus on the references in Acts - Acts 2:38, Acts 8:12, Acts 8:16, Acts 10:48, Acts 19:5 that points to baptising in the name of Jesus? Instead of following the direction given by JESUS Himself to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit? Matthew 28:19 2) Is there a difference? 3) Can ones' salvation be in question if one was baptized in one way over the other? Thank you |

22 | Receive Holy Spirit and NOT speak tongue | Not Specified | godsavs | 185126
Does the reference found in Acts 2:4 stating that after they received the Holy Spirit they spoke in tongues mean to us that "if we do not speak in tongues we indeed do NOT and have NOT received the gift of the holy spirit? Acts 2:4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. |

23 | Why give 10 percent in tithe after Jesus | Not Specified | godsavs | 196434
A friend of mine asks the question - "if most pastors (christian faith) state that when Jesus came His coming in affect makes the old testament laws and rituals no longer valid - why do we still have to tithe 10 percent as stated in the old testatment?"
24 | Feed the hungry before sharing the Word | Not Specified | godsavs | 197559
I'm trying to find the scripture that instructs us to meet the needs of those we have opportunity to share the word of God. Basically, it states that before we can share the Word of God, we must find out what their needs are and meet those needs. example of mission work...many are hungry and scripture we direct us to feed these individuals first, and then they would be receptive to the Word. Thank you |

28 | Are Deacons limited to serving communion | Bible general Archive 2 | godsavs | 114198
What is the role of the Deacon in the church? From 1 Timothy 3 description, it appears that a Deacon's responsibilities stretch beyond 'cutting grass'. If there has been a situation when the finances of the church are being misappropriated, and things are not being handled biblically or legally do the deacons have an obligation to the members of the church to make sure that all financial matters are cleared up and handled correctly?

30 | Is the role of deacon limited? | Bible general Archive 2 | godsavs | 114238
Thank you. Also, can you specifically speak to the question "is the role of the deacon limited to cutting grass, etc" and they are not to be concerned with what happens to the finances of the church, even if things are not being handled ethically? Thanks, again
31 | A Study of Joseph, Jesus' earthly father | Bible general Archive 2 | godsavs | 114605
I have a non believer in my office that asked the question what happend to Joseph, Jesus' father after Luke 2? I know this was just a question because he was making fun...but I would like to do a study over the weekend and give him that answer. If nothing else it will put God on his mind in a serious manner. Can anyone give me a good reference that I could use to study this topic? Would that be, perhaps, an exhaustive study of Luke? |

32 | Play - Video:Boyfriend/Girlfriend Thang? | Bible general Archive 1 | godsavs | 24624
Several weeks ago I was watching a Christian Video hour, and during the broadcast a Pastor was speaking about a play and now made into a video regarding teen relationships entitled "Boyfriend/Girlfriend Thang." The play/movie talks candidly about relationships, how teenage girls become involved in premarital sex, why girls feel a bond with the sexual partners while the young men do not, etc... THis was developed by a African American male. I cannot remember the website or the 1-800 that was listed at the end of the infomercial. Does someone out there know what I am talking about, and can give me the web address or 800 number? Very grateful! |

Oh - my - GOSH!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I'm a youth leader at my church, and with in the last few weeks the Lord has just been blessing me with things to come as it relates to my youth ministry. One thing was showing this video at one of our youth meetings. We have so many young men and women a part of this group who need to hear this word from God from a "real" person. They need to "see" how mistakes can happen and how to avoid them with love! I'm sorry to go on and on but I love children so. If God can produce one more instrument to help them see Him I'm all over it!! God Does Save Sherry |

40 | What the enemy meant for bad, God used | Gen 50:20 | godsavs | 148643
Is there a scripture that refers to the statement we've all heard before..."what the enemy meant for bad, God used for His good"? If so, where can this be found? It's hard at times trying to determine "was this an actual scripture I'm thinking about, or is this just another statement someone has made in the context of a scripture". Thanks for your help
