21 | can sepulchres be burned? | Bible general Archive 1 | childoftheking | 38988
Hi tom, I'm not sure what you mean by "burned the sepulchures". "Sepulchure or tombs of the Hebrews were generally excavated in the solid rock, or were natural caves." Easton's Bible Dictionary Sepulchure: "A natural cave enlarged and adapted by excavation, or an artificial imitation of one was the standard type of sepulchre." Smith's bible Dictionary. 2chron 16:14 "...they made a very great burning for him(Asa)" KJV "According to some, for consuming the spices. According to others, it was a magnificent pile for the cremation of the corpse--a usage which was at that time, and long after, prevalent among the Hebrews, and the omission of which in the case of royal personages was reckoned a great indignity." 24 | What is to be radiant? | Ps 34:5 | childoftheking | 38821
Greetings Jesse, "were raidant" radiant is from the Hebrew word 'nahar' which means to sparkle, i.e. (figuratively) be cheerful; hence (from the sheen of a running stream) to flow, i.e. (figuratively) assemble:--flow (together), be lightened, expressing joy Isaiah 60:4 "Lift up your eyes round about and see; They all gather together, they come to you. Your sons will come from afar, And your daughters will be carried in the arms" 5 "Then you will see and be radiant, And your heart will thrill and rejoice; Because the abundance of the sea will be turned to you,The wealth of the nations will come to you." Psalm 36:9 "For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light. Many besides David have looked unto God by faith and prayer, and have been lightened by it, It has wonderfully revived and comforted them;" witness Hannah, who, when she had prayed, went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad" MH You could probably use it in the way that a pregnant woman can "look radiant". 25 | Tell me about Mark. 11:20-24 | Mark | childoftheking | 38814
Hi Friendley, This passage is a parallel to Matthew 21:18-22 You have to go back to verse 11 to get Jesus' mind set. He went into the temple and "looked around at everything". Were the money changers there at that time? I don't know, maybe. On his way back to Jerusalem Jesus cursed the fig tree because it had no fruit. This is kind of a parallel to how the scribes and Pharisee’s present the outward appearance of Godliness but have nothing of God in their hearts, they bear no fruit. Likewise the Fig tree appeared to have fruit but was bearing leaves only and usually when there are leaves, there are figs. Then notice next that Jesus went into the Temple and drove out the money changers. Mark 12 Jesus points out the widow throwing in her two mites. Matthew 23 Jesus is speaking Woes unto the Scribes and Pharisees and how they “devour widows houses.” Matthew 24 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. This I belive is symbolic to the fig tree in that the fig tree was dried up by it's roots and Jesus is going to do the same thing with the system that the Scribes and Pharisees hold. Utter destruction is what "not one stone upon another" signifies. The other message from the fig tree is that if we have Faith in God, we can move mountains in our life. A mountain is representative of any insurmountable problem we might have in life. We don’t need to go around any mountains but we can move them as long as we have faith in God. Jesus says in verse 24, “"Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.” The main thing in that verse is “believe that you have received them”, which means you must believe the moment you pray for something that it will be done. Look at it in the Amplified Version 23Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him. 24For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it]. However, you can’t stop at that verse. You have to read further to verses 25 and 26. We must not hold back forgiveness to anyone. If we Love Jesus, we must keep the Lords commandments (John 14:15). We must Love on another (John 16:17). We must abide in Jesus and have his Word abide in us (John 15:7). We are to “bear fruit”, fruit that is lasting [that it may remain, abide], John 15:16), then we will be granted what we ask as long as we believe. Love in Jesus bgg |

26 | Is good magic evil and a sin too? | Lev 19:31 | childoftheking | 38715
Hello Jane, God does not approve of anything to do with spells of any sort. Deut 18:10 "There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11 or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. 12 "For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD; and because of these detestable things the LORD your God will drive them out before you." Leviticus 20:6 'As for the person who turns to mediums and to spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will also set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people" Stay clear of any of that junk as it's straight from the Devil. May God guide your way bgg |

32 | who is pure from sin | 1 John 1:9 | childoftheking | 37965
Searcher, I agree with you that no one can be sinless after he/she is saved. There's a big difference however, between to "commit a sin" and to "live in sin". All sin is bad but we're going to "slip up" on occasion even though we don't want to, but thank God for Jesus. 1John 2:1 "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:" It wasn't I who cited one verse. If you notice in the post of my question,(which was in response to another post) I had cited the last 3 verses of 1 John. John says a lot of "if we" in which the "we" is speaking of all believers. 2:21 "I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth." 34 | Why Apostles asked for increased faith? | Luke 17:5 | childoftheking | 37891
Why did they ask for their Faith to be increased? In Luke 15 Jesus talks about finding a lost sheep, a lost coin, a lost son. In Luke 16 Jesus talks about the unrighteous Steward and “the Rich man and Lazarus.” Now in Luke 17 Jesus says: 1 He said to His disciples, "It is inevitable that stumbling blocks come, but woe to him through whom they come! 2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he would cause one of these little ones to stumble. 3 "Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. 4 "And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, 'I repent,' forgive him." 5 The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!" They saw Jesus cast our Demons, Heal the sick, make the Blind to see, make the lame walk. They saw Jesus calm the wind and the seas, walk on water, feed the multitude with 5 loaves and 2 fish. Jesus told Peter he needed to forgive his brother not 7 times, but 70 times 7. Jesus brought back the dead, and yet not at any time after any of those instances did they ask for their faith to be increased. So why after telling them to forgive their brother 7 times if he repent do they ask for their faith to be increased? Could it be a particular sin Jesus is talking about here? In the Prodigal son, the one brother was crying because his father was throwing a party for the brother that was found who stole much from the father. The Unrighteous steward was commended after “squandering possessions” from the rich man for his shrewd business dealings. Then there was the rich man who wouldn’t give Lazarus the crumbs off his table. It seems that Jesus had a “wealth” or “finance” lesson going on here starting in Chapter 15. Could it be that Jesus was talking about if your Brother steal from you, in a financial sense? Blessings in Christ bgg |

36 | who is pure from sin | 1 John 1:9 | childoftheking | 37800
Yes we to strive to live a sinliess life. God has given us a way out of temptation as the Bible says in 1Cor 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” But who can live a sinless life? 1John 1:8 “If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. “ Proverbs 20:9 “Who can say, "I have cleansed my heart, I am pure from my sin"? This question is not only a challenge to any man in the world to prove himself sinless, whatever he pretends, but a lamentation of the corruption of mankind, even that which remains in the best. Alas! Who can say, "I am sinless?’’ Observe, 1. Who the persons are that are excluded from these pretensions—all, one as well as another. Here, in this imperfect state, no person whatsoever can pretend to be without sin. Adam could say so in innocency, and saints can say so in heaven, but none in this life. Those that think themselves as good as they should be cannot, nay, and those that are really good will not, dare not, say this. 2. What the pretension is that is excluded. We cannot say, We have made our hearts clean. Though we can say, through grace, "We are cleaner than we have been,’’ yet we cannot say, "We are clean and pure from all remainders of sin.’’ Or, though we are clean from the gross acts of sin, yet we cannot say, "Our hearts are clean.’’ Or, though we are washed and cleansed, yet we cannot say, "We ourselves made our own hearts clean;’’ it was the work of the Spirit. Or, though we are pure from the sins of many others, yet we cannot say, "We are pure from our sin, the sin that easily besets us, the body of death which Paul complained of in (MH) Rom. 7:24. “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” Peace and Love bgg |

37 | Am I lost for eternity because of sin | 1 John 1:9 | childoftheking | 37709
Hi Andrew jr., You wrote: “Now you say that we all slip up, I would like to know what scripture did you find that in, because the book of James says that the Holy Spirit is able to keep us from falling.” We are in a daily struggle with the flesh: Galatians 5:17 “For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. NASB Psalm 37:23-24 “The steps of a [good] man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth [him with] his hand.” KJV Paul himself said in Romans 7:14-19; The Conflict of Two Natures 14 "For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin. 15 For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate. 16 But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good. 17 So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. 18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. 19 For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want.” NASB I’m not about to get into a debate about this. If you don’t “slip up” as I said, then you’re a better man than I am. A slip up, by the way, can be any sin. As far as 2cor 7:8-10 goes, it seems that it was Paul’s letter itself that made them sorrowful to the point of repentance. This woman (godchild) is already sorrowful to the point of a grieved spirit. She sees the error of her ways with no need of us to formulate any little pearls of wisdom such as “if you don’t want to get wet then please don't walk on the bank of the river”; “if you can’t stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen”; if you don’t want to get burned, then don’t play with matches”. This is just my humble opinion. Anyway Andrew, you have much good to offer and I thank you for your posts Love in Christ bgg |

It's amazing how much tripe(putting it mildly) the enemy has come up with over the years to deceive people. May the Word of God open their eyes.... 39 | Ephesians 5:4 what is coarse joking? | Ephesians | childoftheking | 37685
Hello GME, Eph 5:4 "and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which Bare not fitting, but rather giving of thanks." Coarse jesting is from the Greek word "eutrapelia" from a derivative of the base of troph - trope (meaning well-turned, i.e. ready at repartee, jocose); witticism, i.e. (in a vulgar sense) ribaldry:--jesting. ribaldry: "Behavior or language bordering on indelicacy" It means, we shouldn't be involved in inappropriate joking, we are to abstain from raciness. Notice in the meaning it says "in a vulgar sense". God gave us a sense of humor. Our humor should not have to be censored. It should be fit for all observers. What we may have thought as funny before we were saved should not "tickle our funny bone" anymore. Neither should we listen to or read such things. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 "Abstain from evil [shrink from it and keep aloof from it] in whatever form or whatever kind it may be." Amplified 2Cor 5:17 “Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” In Christ bgg |

40 | speaking in tongue or other tongues | 1 Cor 14:1 | childoftheking | 37524
Hello Greg, This is a much debated subject and you can find many posts by typing in "speaking tongues" in the quick search window, top right of the page. There are tongues for personal edifictaion: 1Cor 14:2 "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries." 1 Corinthians 14:4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. KJV Tongues for interpretation: 1 Corinthians 14:5 "I would that ye all spake with tongues but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying" KJV Tongues for unbelievers: 1 Corinthians 14:22 "Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe." KJV 1 Corinthians 14:39 "Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues." I read a good book concerning this subject called " The walk of the Spirit, The Walk of Power" by Dave Roberson if you care to check into that. Love in Christ bgg |
