24 | continuation of old traditions? | Not Specified | bravostarr | 46615
whenever God is speaking to His chosen people, He often says "throughout your generations"....so should all that continue until today? could he have specified until christ comes or something? Jews still celebrate feast of passover, but i don't think they still put lamb blood on the door just as God commanded to do "throughout your generations"

26 | mass murder on moses behalf? | Not Specified | bravostarr | 46613
Did Moses really order a mass killing in exodus 32:27-30 for the greater good? is it possible to say... after christ we have it fair, and those before christ did not? where is the love and understanding? were we randomly picked to live here and now, and we have like--the lucky straw? |

28 | dreaming someone is running naked | Bible general Archive 1 | bravostarr | 46611
well i can't imagine there is a real biblical meaning behind it. if it is recurring and bothersome, then pray about it. for the most part dreams are just dreams... sometimes i dream about something if i thought about it throughout my day...like, scuba diving or something--other times its just bizzare and i forget about it.
29 | such an angry god in exodus? | Not Specified | bravostarr | 46607
i'm reading the first few books of the bible, and i feel like i am reading about a different god than that which is presented in the new testament. i know jesus changed stuff -- but i feel as though i am reading about an angry God always needing someone to find favor in his eyes. i know God was testing moses, but god was so hard on him. its not like the people had the holy spirit dwelling inside back then. am i looking about it the wrong way? |

31 | People want answers! | Prov 3:5 | bravostarr | 46558
ah - please don't let this be your last post! i just found this website a few days ago...and it really helps me see different perspectives on certain scripture. some versus can be used in different applications...which is why you may be confused. even though mankinds interpretation of the bible may contradict eachother...keep in mind that the bible does not contradict itself. its very important not to take versus out of context ... and build a whole theory on that. you say you are a new christian -- amen! all those questions you asked...can all be answered in the bible, if you want i can take you step by step through all of them. but i am no theologian..and i can make mistakes too. if you face trials and discouragement (and you will), know this: the bible is the real word of God... no book in the entire world even comes close-- never let anyone tell you that you have blind faith...there is much evidence out there that points to God. I have been reading a book called "the new evidence that demands a verdict" i forgot the author..but its great for answering questions from science..to the bible..to jesus. i have never met a history professor on campus (christian or not) that denies that a man named jesus walked this earth 2000 years ago...there are many historical references to Him both in scripture, and also letters and posts that nonchristians wrote back in the jesus day. as for the website...we are only human -- and see things differently, and make mistakes too. but i'd say a good majority of the people here have this in common : we know the lord jesus is real, he is risen, the bible is real, and the life that jesus put into us is real. Amen? |

32 | Proof of wrong spirit vs. Holy Spirit | Matthew | bravostarr | 46290
wow...what an awesome question---i think that many people struggle with that today. yes, satan trys to appear as an angel of light many times, but inside he is a lion waiting to devour. when i question whether or not something is from God...i hit the bible with prayer and praise. Sometimes that still doesn't answer my question -- so I hit the facts. Its important to try to let the "Holy Spirit" lead you -- because it could be your own mind somtimes. Its important to remain balanced and look at the practical aspect of some things....for example-- i have a dear friend who is buddist, and many friends who are into the new age "self god" thing. this can sometimes be discouraging, but I hit the facts...i KNOW the bible is real because i have read the facts. sure God is working in my life, but that statement is hard for some people to understand. there is hard evidence also---everything from the manuscripts, to science, and philosophy.....in the end, it always points to God. when helping others understand this...always do it with a loving heart---never rebuking or becoming angry, and if nothing seems to happen, your father in heaven has seen what you have done and will reward you. and believe it or not...that person is better off than before you spoke to them, in a way they have grown in the Lord, even if it only is head knowledge. maybe the next person who comes along will hit it home for them, thanks to you who planted the seed. know what i'm saying? hang in there---and pray unceasingly
33 | How are we to understand? | Bible general Archive 1 | bravostarr | 46289
great question... but keep in mind that although many translations are available, we still have like, over 36,000 manuscripts copies of the original biblical writings in greek, hebrew,...ect. we can always go back to them and make sure they are in sync with what is out on the market now. as for the manuscripts themselves, the recent discovery of the dead sea scrolls, which are older than many manuscripts, just proves further that they are accurate. the question of which is translation is closest....you can find out through word of others who are educated in the matter, or -- you can always find out your self. i am beginning to study new testament greek a little bit....and find personaly that the king james and NASB are good for literal word for word translations. many bibles are translated according to a certain need, such as NIV which is kind of a conceptual translation...another words--- the translators try their best to capture the meaning. of course....interpretation will vary from one theologen to the next. if you want to read the bible as leisure reading---this is great. if you want to get in depth with a bible study, then a word for word translation is probably what you are looking for. |

34 | Why did God send phophets | Rev 20:5 | bravostarr | 46288
God wants us to always be prepared when the day comes, and he returns. He wants us to know the season, but no one--not even Jesus the Son of God knows the exact hour. I think the book of Revelation is cool to read, but hard to understand. Maybe it is there for the people left behind. Perhaps as the world endurs the great tribulation, they can look into the book and see how everything is coming true....maybe that will lead to many being saved? |
