21 | Being baptized | Matt 3:11 | believer57 | 34556
Dear Alice, Great question! I will attempt to shed some light on it for you. Water baptism is representative of being washed clean from sin. It was first presented to us when the children of Israel passed through the Red Sea. They went into the water with sin, (Pharaoh's army), pursuing them. When they came out, their "sin" was washed away! It is a public declaration of your being washed clean! In Matthew 3:11, John the baptist tells us that "I indeed baptize you with water unto REPENTANCE: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear, he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire". Fire represents the warmth of the love that He has for you! John tells us that Jesus Christ, as the Lord and Saviour of your life, will baptize, (fill), you with the Holy Ghost. This was, as you may well know, first demonstrated at the "day of Pentecost", in Acts:2. Jesus promised us, in John 14:16, 26, that he would send us the Holy Ghost, to comfort, and guide us. Accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour allows Him to do this. Water baptism is a public display of your repentance and acceptance of Him as your Lord and Saviour. Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the promise that Christ made to us, that He would not leave us alone! John 14:18, "I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you." That is why He told his disciples that it is "expedient" that He go away, (John 16:7), "..for if I go not away, the Comforter, (Holy Ghost), will not come to you, but if I depart, I WILL SEND HIM TO YOU." How do you know if you have received the Holy Spirit? You will no longer desire to sin. You will desire to read the Bible, to pray more. You will think of Him always. There have been books written on the Holy Spirit, it is a big subject. Suffice to say, you will know when He comes..Go, and be baptized, my sister..Baptized in water, and with the Holy Spirit...Accept Him as your Lord and Saviour. When you do, the angels in heaven will rejoice!! He has prevailed to open the book, and there will be written the name of "Alice"...He will come to you.....God Bless...Holler, if I can help....believer57
22 | Did Satan know God's plan for salvation | Bible general Archive 1 | believer57 | 34551
Barry, I fully believe that Satan knows that he is a defeated foe! Remember Matt. 8:29, when the "devils" asked Jesus, "..art thou come hither to torment us before THE TIME?". They, as Satan does, know that The Son was sent to save us. God's plan of salvation was presented first in the OT, (passage from Egypt, the Passover, the Tabernacle, Daniel's friends in the furnace, Daniel in the lion's den, story of Joseph ). Further, as you well know, Satan knows the Scriptures backwards and forwards. He knows that God will not allow his people to perish in eternal hell, if they will choose Him. Satan knows that God wants to save us, and that is why he does everything in his "limited" power to condemn us. The "I wills" of Satan demonstrate his plan to ruin our salvation. Remember when Satan said, in his heart, "I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north"? Satan is warning us that he will be sitting next to the churches, and the saints! Why? To take from the flock. He knows that Christ is our Shepherd, and he will do anything he can to take us from Him! He knows God's plan. He knows he is defeated! When Christ arose, he trembled with fear! I believe that when our precious Lamb was on the cross, that Satan, in his own self-deception, thought he had won. But, He is arisen! And that old serpent the Devil, is defeated! I love the story of the man in the tombs. Satan, big and bad, so he thinks, begging Christ not to torment him! Yes sir, he knows...Holler back, if I can help... God Bless....believer57
23 | distinction.....scriptures and inspired | 2 Pet 3:16 | believer57 | 34547
Jules, Greetings my brother/sister in Christ! I apologize if I misrepresented myself regarding the Pauline Letters. They are absolutely, as is every word in our beloved Bible, the inspired Word of God. Remember Jesus quoting Deut.8:3 to Satan, when he tempted Him in the desert: "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God". Every word in the Bible, is the "Word of God". I believe that there is some typology present in this scripture. "Bread" as used in Deut. refers to Christ.(John 6:51). I believe that this scripture tells us to live by the entire Bible, not just the NT. Now, referencing the Pauline Letters, They are, as is all of it, vital to the every day life of a Christian. I too, am a big fan of Colossians. The point that I, perhaps not too well, tried to make is that the Pauline Letters were written in response to problems brought to Paul's attention in the various churches. They, I believe, were not intended for use as Foundational Doctrine. They are for clarification, reproof, and instruction, (2 Tim.3:16). Foundational Doctrine is found primarily in the Torah, and the Gospels. There is "doctrine" found in the Letters, some of the more powerful scriptures in the Bible are found here, but not Foundational Doctrine. Many Christians, as I stated earlier, make the mistake of getting "hung up in the Letters", and this is what Peter was warning us about. When he referenced the "unlearned and unstable", he was referencing "baby" Christians. Babies need milk, not meat. When "baby" Christians try to digest meat, this will lead to their destruction. When looking to "build" your foundation, look first to the OT, then the gospels. Who is God? What/how does He feel about certain things? Why was His Son sent to us? Why do we need His Son? What is His plan of salvation? What is His will for my life? Desire ye the sincere milk of the Word! Remember, Jesus told us to "become as little children". James tells us "..be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation", (James 3:1). I hope this helped. If I further confused you, please let me know! God bless you my friend...believer57
24 | Did Satan know God's plan for salvation | Bible general Archive 1 | believer57 | 34474
Read the 5 great "I will's" of Satan in Isaiah 14:12-14. V's 15-19, tell us of his fate for placing his pride above that of the Father. Satan knew, and continues to know, that he is a defeated foe. God bless...believer57
25 | how can we loose our salvation. | Heb 6:4 | believer57 | 34356
etta3dove, Psalms 69:28 tell us "Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous". Jesus restates this in Rev. 3:5, in his letter to the church at Sardis,He states, "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment;, and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels". Lastly, you might consider Hebrews 6:4-6. I'll quote v.6, "If they shall fall away, to renew them again to repentance;, seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame". Scripture tells us that this is "impossible", (v.4). Two things to consider here:1. It is apparent, I believe, that Jesus withholds the right to, in fact, blot names out of the book, that are written therein, if He so chooses. This is "judging". Guilty or not guilty? 2. If we fall away, after coming to Him, it is tantamount to crucifying Him again, to open shame. To fall away, especially to those around you that experienced your salvation with you, is the same as crucifying Him again! Bringing Him to open shame! People will wonder, why did he/she do that? The Father will not allow his Son to be shamed again! Would you? Do not leave Him, my friend...Do not bring Him to open shame...He paid a high price for you, and we will not exact any more from Him...Those that believe, "once saved, always saved", are exactly right! This is the "promise of salvation". Our "blessed hope"! IF, we continue to walk with Him, and not fall away..Stay with Him, my friend, He will stay with you..Holler, if I can help....God bless....believer57
26 | How do u see drugs? | 2 Pet 2:21 | believer57 | 34340
Dear young person, The question you asked is one of theological consideration. Christians believe that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost that resides within us, (1 Cor. 3:19). Drug usage is considered "defiling" of the temple. Defiling of God's temple is considered an abomination, and we are commanded not to do it. Further, as Christians, we are to obey the laws of the land, as long as they do not keep us from worship and praise of Him, (1 Peter 2:13). NOW, the bigger issue, why are you an "atheist"? I can help you with this,(along with my Christian brethren),if you would like. Do you need some type of convincing argument that there is, in fact, God? That He does exist? I do not have video, but, perhaps, I can offer some things that might get you to consider that He does exist, now and forever! Question, How do you think all this around you came into being? How can you "believe"? Consider this in closing, believing is simply a choice, my friend! That's all you have to do, is CHOOSE to believe! That is the first step. Would you like to believe in God? Then you can, just do it!, (not to plagiarize the famous tennis shoe line!). Just simply choose to say this, "I believe in God". Say that to yourself right now..See, that didn't hurt, did it? I can help you, hopefully, take it from there! Just walk outside, and look around...Ask yourself, where did all this come from? God created all of this, my friend...If you want to come to God, the you can begin by simply wanting to believe. It is a childlike step that can change your life!! That's all Jesus wants! Just run to Him with childlike belief! He will welcome you with outstretched arms.... Then, the angels in heaven will celebrate! Choose to believe, my friend. He loves you...So much, that He died for you... He is waiting for you.... Holler, if I can help...God bless you....believer57
27 | How would you interpret "hate" LK 14:26? | Luke 14:33 | believer57 | 34333
Cyclist, I believe that Jesus is trying to make a point in the passage you asked about. Further down in the chapter, Luke 14:33, He states, "So, likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple". Christ emphasize that He is to be preeminent in our lives. Moreso than ANYTHING else. The word "hate" he used in v.26 is from a Greek word that literally means "to love less". Its obvious that we are not to "hate" other people in our lives. This is contrary to everything we are taught as Christians, (especially our parents!). Jesus was emphasizing that it is his desire that we place Him first in our lives. Do you remember the story Jesus told in Luke 18:18-24? When the rich man came to Jesus and asked Him, "..what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus told him to sell all that he had and give to the poor? The rich man walked away from Him very sad..Make Jesus the centerpiece, the focus, the anchor, the Lord, and Saviour, of your life. Scripture tells us that ye "were bought with a price", (1 Cor. 6:20). Jesus paid a high price to save you! He is not asking you to "hate" anyone. Just love Him more than anything else in your life! I hope this helps..Holler if I can clarify...God Bless...believer57
28 | This is an example of a "theophany". | Josh 5:15 | believer57 | 34330
Makarios, Not to "beat it to death", but one last point for you. Especially, if you run in to one of these "unitarians". I always direct them to Romans 1:25; "Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever." They believe that Jesus was created in the manger, therefore a "creature". That's one they usually just look down at the ground, and can't say anything. We are not to worship creatures, (anything that is created). I believe that they, at least some of them, are aware of this scripture, and in fact, do not worship our Lord and Saviour! They do not like to admit it though...God Bless...believer57 |

29 | This is an example of a "theophany". | Josh 5:15 | believer57 | 34181
Makarios, Thank you for the follow up. The pre-existence of Christ, I believe, is the cornerstone to our faith. When the Holy Spirit revealed Him to me through the Word, the OT literally came alive to me! My son calls me "theo" because I search for Christ so much in the OT! You may, or may not, realize how many of our brothers and sisters do not know this! It is essential to our relationship with HIm and understanding Him! I don't know if you saw, but I was searching around the site, (I am new to it), and saw some notes on the Trinity. I saw one from an obvious "unitarian", and my response was a little hot! I do not understand why they are so afraid of our blessed Trinity! I have some opinions, we can discuss those some day if you like. My referenced son was briefly involved in the "way international", and this is when I went to the Lord and recommitted my life to Him. He then began to show me His Son in the OT, and the Holy Spirit as well, and it has changed my life forever! My son has come to the truth as well! I believe these so called "unitarians" are afraid of the Truth! TheY preach "a Christ which we do not preach" and are descbribed perfectly in the Word in 2 Peter, as well as other places, (false prophets). It is nothing more than a cult. They deny Christ, and we know what He said about that. They hinder, or actually blaspheme the Holy Spirit, and we know what He said about that, as well. Anyway, thanks for the reply. Holler back if I can do anything for you! God Bless You..Believer57 |

wow...a cultist among us....Do I sense "Way International"? say it ain't so..Hey cultist, John 1:14? unbelievable..."to be carnal minded is death"....That looks like something straight out of Weirwille's satanic non-sense..go somewhere else...Just a couple for you, since I don't waste time with goats..In the beginning, God, (elohym-PLURAL). Where does it say "sense"? In your cult handbook? I have an ex-friend who is a "wayer", so bring it on.. I need the excercise..That sounds just like some of his satanic non-sense!By the way, Mr. Cultist, why does the ot use elohym and Jehovah to refer to God? HMMM..."Let us make man in our image.." you gonna tell me that that is an "old English" phrase referring to a singular? Already heard it, try again..Don't even get me started on that stuff. I'll type until I have worn out these keys. When I confront my ex-friend with that stuff, he just looks down at the ground. Give it up...He who hath not the Son, hath NOT eternal life..This means ALL of Him, not a "sense". Unbelievable..You guys amaze me, but are great excercise..Like my pastor told me, every now and then, go find a "unitarian" to argue with..Bring it on, I might just save you!!!Oh, I know, Hebrews 1:2 mistranslation, right? Please, try it, and I'll show you that it is perfect! Wanna get me started on False Prophets? Bring it on...I did not mean to get tacky, but I had problems with the Way International before, and am just a bit touchy when I hear people talking about my blessed Lord and Saviour like that..Question. How can God send something that did not already exist?. Oh, last one, I promise, "I WILL send the Comforter..." Sound like Joel 2:28? I am the First and the Last! Homework assignment, (its not in your cult handbook), who said that? (HInt: Isaiah 44:6, couldn't resist). You false prophets are great! I'll be up all night reading about my ETERNAL Lord and Saviour, the mighty Counselor, the almighty God, Jesus Christ! And what was Thomas thinking when, after touching His scars, said, "My Lord and MY GOD!!!", (emphasis mine, reserved for goats). Want more? Let me know...I look forward to it... Like Jimmy Durante once said, I gotta million of 'em!" God Bless...
31 | distinction.....scriptures and inspired | 2 Pet 3:16 | believer57 | 34011
This is a powerful message from Peter. Many Christians, (my humble opinion), place too much emphasis on the Pauline letters. They, like all of the Bible, are the inspired Word of God, but they are not Foundational Doctrine in and of themselves. Many cults primarily build their doctrine from Paul's writings, (i.e. the way international, not capitalized for emphasis). This passage from Peter was a warning..Paul mainly wrote "meat" and not "milk". He wrote in response to problems brought to his attention in these churches. How many times does he say, "I think.."? His letters are for advanced Christians, that have moved beyond "basics". Hebrews 5:12-14 discusses this. If a Christian is struggling with the "milk of the word", they are not ready for "meat". Paul's letters can be classified as "meat". They are after the Gospels, are they not? This is for a reason. Absorb, receive the Gospel, then move forward. Too many Christians, (per the warning of Peter), get bogged down in the Pauline letters and Revelation. Put these to the latter, and not former. Learn about the ministry of Christ, his plan of salvation, baptism, repentance, then move to "meat"..God bless..
32 | Please help the ignorant and arrogant... | Matt 27:46 | believer57 | 34009
This might help..Do a word study with a complete concordance on the phrase "hide my face". This will give you several examples of when God will "hide his face" from his children. Also, Hab.1:13, "Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity;..." At that moment, He was "our iniquity" and God could not look upon it! After Christ cried out, what happened? God took Him from his suffering! Message? He will take you from your suffering! Cry out to Him! God bless...
33 | Teaching Messiahship on the cross | Matt 27:46 | believer57 | 34008
In short, His cry from the cross, (quoting Psalm 22), was in response to his feeling separated from his Father. When Christ was on the cross, He took upon Him all sin in the world,(2 Cor.5:21). God cannot be in the presence of sin. The Priest in the tabernacle had to be clean before entering into the holy of holies, or else he would have died. Sin is separation from God. At that moment, God turned away from Him and He cried out to Him! And, as is every word from his mouth, Jesus was ministering unto you and I! If you feel separated from God, cry out to Him! Why have you forsaken me? He will hear, and come to you..
34 | New Age Movement new? | Gen 3:5 | believer57 | 34007
The "New Age Movement" is nothing "new", nor is it Biblical. It is yet another example of a Satanic cult, based upon a lie. Based upon somebody deceiving somebody about what the Word of God says, (like Satan originally did to Eve). If you hear somebody questioning Foundational Doctrine, based, supposedly, upon scripture, go to the Lord in prayer and ask for guidance. Satan's only, but powerful, weapon is the LIE. And it is clear from Gen. 2:17, "..thou shalt not eat.." that God's Word is clear and concise. What part of that command did Eve not understand? There was not any, "unless", or "but", or "if"! Thou shalt not! She listened to Satan interpret God's Word and look what happened. This happens when people know what his Word says, but do not want to receive it! They will search, and usually find, someone to make it say what they really wish it said! False Prophets are among us, and being part of the "un-holy trinity", they will lie to you about his Word!
35 | This is an example of a "theophany". | Josh 5:15 | believer57 | 34006
One of my most beloved passages in the Bible. Joshua, preparing for battle against Jericho, with 40,000 mighty men of war, v.13.."And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him. Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?" Joshua "lifted up his eyes" before going into a terrible battle and beheld none other than the Son of God! He had come, as the "captain of the Host" to reassure and lead Joshua into the conquest of Jericho! Ever have a tough Day? Then look up! He will come to you, too!
36 | HOW COULD JESUS BE A DESCENDANT OF DAVID | Bible general Archive 1 | believer57 | 34004
Romans 1:3,4 "Concerning his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;" And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead". God placed his Son in the line of David "according to the flesh" as a sign of royalty to the Jews. Joseph was a descendant of David, but was not actually the father of Christ, as we know. This lineage is in Matthew 1.
37 | SECOND CHANCE | Rev 7:1 | believer57 | 34001
REv.7:13-14 "And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?" "And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb". The "144000" will be left to preach the gospel. But, they will be the remnant. This will be a horrible time to be a Christian. Just think, a world without Christians! Think its hard being a Christian now?
38 | New Testament..God speak to anyone else | NT general Archive 1 | believer57 | 33996
Yes, everytime its says "Jesus said.." The quotations of Jesus are to you my friend. He was God incarnate in the flesh, and his Word is for you!John 14:18 "I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you". That was originally to his Disciples, but..thats for you too!
39 | Question concerning prayer. | Bible general Archive 1 | believer57 | 33916
Matthew 6:6-13, (Sermon on the Mount), Jesus tells us where and how to pray. This is most comforting, especially to those that are uncomfortable with prayer. Be alone, take the phone off the hook, turn off tv and pray to your heavenly Father! The Lord's Prayer is beautiful, and sometimes you can pray this prayer, but it is to be used as a "template". Go into your closet and talk to Him! Yes, He knows already, but He desires that you come to Him with your prayers! God Bless You! Write me back, if I can be of some help..
40 | I fed you with milk, not solid food. | 1 Cor 3:2 | believer57 | 33914
A good scripture reference is 1 Peter2:2 "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:" 1 John 2:12-14, talks about the different "stages" in the growth of a Christian, (little children, young men, and Fathers). New Christians are newborn "babes". As you may well know, we do not feed babies meat. They are not ready for it. We feed them milk, nurture and care for them, until they reach the age where they can handle "stronger" food. I do not know, but if you are a new Christian, focus on foundational doctrine in your studies. Read the Gospel of John, then perhaps Genesis. Absorb, through the Holy Spirit, basic truths in His Word, before going on to deeper theological questions. God Bless You..
