21 | Why did it take the wise men so long... | NT general Archive 1 | ashestobeauty | 27671
I understand that, but why didn't an angel just appear to them too. Why did they have to find out by "the stars"? Just curious.... (the kid in me I guess) |

22 | When will I speak/pray in tongues? | Acts 2:6 | ashestobeauty | 27670
How can you be sure you are really saved? It cannot be reasoned out it takes faith. "only believe". :o) You either believe or you doubt it. Those who believe will reap the benefits, those who doubt will not. Your choice. But I can tell you I'm living proof that "the babbling" works and can be a powerful tool in your walk with God, should you choose to "believe". I choose to be "A Babbling Fool for Him" |

23 | When will I speak/pray in tongues? | Acts 2:6 | ashestobeauty | 27669
You are correct Joe, it is not a must in your walk with Christ. It is a gift that you can either accept and use or reject and do without. It does not have anything to do with your salvation. It's like having a brand new car in your driveway and being given the keys to drive it. It's yours. but if you still want to walk everywhere you go, you are welcome to do that. (it will just take a lot longer and you may run out of strength along the way.) There are many reasons to consider choosing the gift of tongues. some are as follows: 1) When you pray in tongues it builds and strengthens your spirit. Jude 1:20 - But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit 2) When you don’t know how to pray for something you can pray in tongues and the Holy Spirit will pray with you (Romans 8:26) In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and knows exactly what to pray so you will be praying according to what scripture says. (Very effective) 3) Satan does not understand tongues. It is your personal heavenly language that only God understands. (I bet this drives satan crazy!!) All I know is I've walked it for over 15 years and it's real, and I would not live a day without it! If you try to reason it out you will never experience it... Like I said it takes faith! It confounds the wise.... All around it just makes your walk with God much easier! Kind of like a car makes your life much easier!! :o) Creatively His, ashestobeauty |

24 | When will I speak/pray in tongues? | Acts 2:6 | ashestobeauty | 27658
Great response, Retxar! Most people don't understand that we do play a part in speaking in tongues. Just like God gives a child the ability to speak but the child still has to open his mouth and make the sounds come out. When you feel in your heart the time is right thank God for the gift, open your mouth, and begin to make whatever sound comes out. Just like salvation "its almost too simple" to believe and receive. You have to have the faith of a child :o). Your heavenly language is just like any other. When you begin to speak in tongues it will sound "weird" just like when a toddler begins to speak. You may only say a few unfamiliar sounds over and over again at first. Don't stop, it develops over time. A baby does not come out speaking fluent English. As you speak in tongues you will develop and become fluent in it. So it may sound like you are stuttering at first and even sound "like baby talk" but as you keep praying and speaking in tongues you will progress and become more comfortable with it. :o) Just remember there is nothing to be afraid of.. its a gift from God. |

Why do you think it took the Wise Men Years to Find Jesus (He was around 2yrs old when they did), and the shepherds found Him the same night he was born? (I have my own opinion on this but would love to hear other's opinions..)

Good point Hugger.... Someone once explained it to me like this... Your heavenly language is just like any other. It develops over time. |

29 | Can one loose their salvation ? | Bible general Archive 1 | ashestobeauty | 24595
If you choose to not obey His word and live your own life after you become a Christian You can loose out on your rewards and blessings. You can loose out on peace and joy, you can loose out on all that God has planned for you here on earth.... But I do not believe you can loose your salvation if you sincerely asked Jesus to be your lord and savior. An example of this would be 1 Corinthians 5:5 1 Corinthians 5 1 Corinthians 5:4-6 deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. If you choose to destroy yourself here on earth you will live a bitter life and reap much sorrow but your salvation is still promised. So my point is... why live in sin and miss out on all the blessings life has to offer to those who live according to Gods word and in obedience to His leading? Be Blessed! ashestobeauty |

32 | Asking others for forgiveness | Mark 4:22 | ashestobeauty | 24484
This is a very hard thing to do! Don’t do it alone. Do it with much prayer and make sure your timing is right. Then be very humble and patient with your spouse and understand their response will be negative at first. If your spouse is willing to stay and work through this then there is a long process that will follow of different stages and emotions. You both need to know about these and be prepared for them.... Don’t do this blindly if you want your marriage to survive it!!

Hi Martha, This is the best way I've ever heard it explained. It is a gift that you can either accept and use or reject and do without. It does not have anything to do with your salvation. It's like having a brand new car in your driveway and being given the keys to drive it. It's yours... but if you still want to walk everywhere you go, you are welcome to do that. There are many reasons to consider choosing the gift of tongues. some are as follows: 1) When you pray in tongues it builds and strengthens your spirit. 2) When you don’t know how to pray for something you can pray in tongues and the Holy Spirit will pray with you (Romans 8 I think) and knows exactly what to pray so you will be praying according to what scripture says. (Very effective) 3) Satan does not understand tongues. It is your personal heavenly language that only God understand. (I bet this drives him crazy!!) There are other reasons as well, if you would like some good reading material on this just let me know and I will send you the info. All around it just makes your walk with God much easier! Kind of like a car makes your life much easier!! :o) Creatively His, ashestobeauty |

34 | On Harry Potter? | Bible general Archive 1 | ashestobeauty | 21332
I like your last point... I have been in children's ministry for over 15 yrs now and have learned that each child is different. So, where your 11 yr old son may not be swayed by harry potter... a 6 yr old might. It is very important for parents to know their child and the type of things that the enemy will tempt them with. THIS IS THE KEY! Harry Potter will pull certain children into witchcraft. Lastly, I beleive what you put in comes out. So if you are going to read fiction make sure you know alittle about the author because what they beleive will come out in their books. Same as Music - Which IS A WHOLE OTHER CAN OF WORMS...I think we should do our best to put the best in front of our children and then be there to comunicate with them when they have ?'s about what they see and hear. IS HARRY POTTER THE BEST WE HAVE TO OFFER IN FICTION? If it is then we need some chirstian writers to GET BUSY!!!!!
