21 | John 10:1-21 | John 10:22 | Scribe | 86883
Reading through Chapter 9 you see events that took place over time, I am of the opinion that the logic of the context suggest that Jn 10:22 begins the time of the dedication feast and He goes to solomons porch, before that the events of 10:21 occurred in a period of time of two months, it is not clear which day he does each thing. For instance...John 9:21-27 records a healing of a blind man, and then a meeting of sanhedrin to ask, him, then his parents, then him again, and it is hardly likely that these meetings all took place on the same day. Therefore we have records of events covering a two month period from John 7 the feast of tabernacles, until John 10:22 the dedication feast. |

22 | just an explanation of these verses | Col 1:13 | Scribe | 86822
This is a very big topic. To deal with it properly you have to review all the OT prophets concerning the kingdom of God and not just the New Testament verses. There is such a thing as the Kingdom of God that will reign on earth for one thousand years, this kingdom must be fulfilled. Yet there is a spiritual unseen reality of the kingdom of God and it is here now. It is great that this eternal spiritual kingdom is preached often but sometimes I hear it preached as if there is no such thing as a physical kingdom to come. But it will come. As sure as Christ rose from the dead, he will come again and destroy all the kingdoms of this world and be established as the only kingdom for 1000 years. Then after the new heavens and new earth are made, His kingdom will endure forever. We are citizens of that kingdom now, and even are called to be kings and priests on the earth now, in limited ways. What I mean by limited is that even though we are kings now, we are still destined to reign as kings on the earth in such a way that we have not yet entered into, because the time has not yet come. However we will rule over all nations with Him according to the prophesies and promises. Revelation 2:26-27 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. |

23 | Heavens pass away and earth destroyed ? | 2 Pet 3:10 | Scribe | 86651
I did not understand the question about the root meaning of the hebrew or greek, but this verse does indeed say the heavens and earth will be dissolved. The atomic levle is included, the very elements will be dissolved. We will have a new earth and a new heavens and nothing of the old will remain. It will not be an earth made over with a face lift and the old thing buried, to be revealed by an archaelogical dig, but the very elements of the periodic table you learned in high school physics will be dissolved. However this does not occur as the flood, while men are marrying and eating and drinking and living lives unconcerned.. First there will be horrible judgements poured out and The Lord Jesus as our Kinsman Redeemer will disposses the earth of its unlawful inhabitants through a series of judgements. Then the kingdom will be handed to the saints and then this event will occur at the very end when the judgement of the wicked has already come to a close.
24 | Anyone have thoughts about Jabez? | 1 Chr 4:9 | Scribe | 86623
LOL. It might Hank. A title is often the reason for why a book sells or doesn't. "Where did Cain Get His Wife"? Just might be a hot item.
25 | Was jabez saved? | 1 Chr 4:9 | Scribe | 86619
1 Chronicles 4:9-10 And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. It is possible that he was a seeker of knowledge in the word of God and that is why he was considered more honorable than his brethren. Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. The Jews have a tradition that he was a Dr. of the Law. It is possible that he was a Scribe and that the Jabez the town was named after him. 1 Chronicles 2:55 And the families of the scribes which dwelt at Jabez; I see in this prayer not a "make me rich" prayer but an earnest heart cry to be pleasing to God. And his FAITH granted him his petition, showing that whenever a man would dare break out of the normal and exercise a heart of Faith toward God, God was always delighting in moving to bless them with a Revelation of God Himself. He goes down in history as an example of how of the sons of Judah listed, God takes time out of the monotonous genealogy and says.. BUT THIS ONE WAS MORE HONORABLE.. as an inspiration to us.. Will you go down in history as just the son of your father in some ancient genealogy.. just a birth record, a death certificate, and your name on some roll somewhere archived in a dusty library.. or will you allow FAITH to cause you to break out of the norm and TAKE hold of the Feet of God (in Christ) and Say Oh Lord Bless ME.. make me to shine with Your Glory. John 12:3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. Matthew 26:13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her. |

26 | What is God's name? | Exodus | Scribe | 86617
Genesis 15:1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. Genesis 26:24 And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake. Exodus 6:6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments: Exodus 6:3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. Exodus 3:13-14 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. The Truth is that God does not go by just one proper name like Tom, Joe, or Harry. He Gives Covenant Personality Names as the answer to the question What is your name. God is GOD, He is the I AM. I AM what? Whatever you need God to be in your life to make you perfect and to equip you to be in the image of Christ, He is that to you. Do you need Health? He is the I AM YOUR HEALTH, Do you need Faith.. He is the I AM YOUR FAITH.. Do you need to be able to speak boldly to do his will as Moses needed to.. He is I AM YOUR MOUTH AND TONGUE. If people would grasp that about God they would Call Him by his real name, which is a Faith expression of your heart that you beleive HE provides for you all that You need to be made more like Him, and they would leave off the senseless haggling over the proper spelling of Hebrew words used prior to the structure of vowels assigned long after the scrptures were written. The original Hebrew scriptures did not use vowels in writing, therefore there are questions about how the words were pronounced. Later Hebrew scholars restructered the Hebrew language and added vowels. However when you understand that God is not a man and is not limited to a "proper" name, you understand that it does not matter exactly how YHWH was originally pronounced, what is important is that we understand Who God is to Us. Are we having Faith that He is our Holiness? If not, then do we really think God is going to pat us one the back for pronouncing the word YHWH correctly? Of course not. This obsession with the correct name of God has produced more than one cult and I am sure more are trying to form even as we speak. It is just another way for those that want a precept to follow rather than intimacy with God. So they have precept upong precept, line upon line, that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken. |

27 | Please explain Haggai 1:12 (Fear) | Hag 1:12 | Scribe | 86613
ary yare' yaw-ray' a primitive root; to fear; morally, to revere; caus. to frighten:--affright, be (make) afraid, dread(-ful), (put in) fear(-ful, -fully, -ing), (be had in) reverence(-end), X see, terrible (act, -ness, thing). The verse above this concludes a message calling the people to a new attitude toward God. Haggai 1:11 And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands. Today we would hear many preachers say God did not call the drought, but those that fear the Lord cringe when such a message is preached, because they know the balance of the Holy Spirit, to both Love the Lord and Fear the Lord. We Fear the Lord in reverential fear, but that does not make it anyless awesome of a fear. We still fall on our face before His holiness and tremble. He has shown us His Love by sending us His son and we enter into fellowship with Him and are friends, but woe to the man that takes that lightly and thinks that he can play the harlot with God. He will find that God still calls forth the drought to lead people to repentance if they forget God in prosperity. Fearing God is not a contradiction to Love. It is often said "But I do not want to fear my father, I want to have a love relationship with him." That is true, but if your earthly father was a good father, he could make your stomach turn somersaults if you got caught doing something you knew you were not supposed to be doing. This is because you knew your father loved you enough to discipline you. Hebrews 12:9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? If more preachers preached the Fear of God as Paul did, there would be fewer backsliders and those that did backslide would be more miserable while they were doing so. The goodness of God leads men to repentance, but the fear of God is part of the goodness of God not something else. |

28 | Matthew 16:28 | Matt 16:28 | Scribe | 86579
as has been mentioned already by the other answers, it is speaking of the mount of transiguration. The some of you, were Peter, James and John. Peter said that he witnessed the Power of the COming and glory of Christ when he saw this on the mount in the epistle of Peter. So it does speak of the 2nd coming, and it is saying that those that are alive when Jesus comes again will be transfigured and shine with this same glory. The disappearing rapture theory is a mistake. The word says we are changed and rise, not dissapear and rise. We are glorified and rise. We will shine with the same Glory that Jesus had and the world will see it in my opinion. A holy vindication of all that have been persecuted by the wicked. |

29 | Who are YOU? | Rom 3:3 | Scribe | 86577
Might I add that when we ask James' bones.. "Who are you"? The answer will not come from the analysis of the text upon the crypt, but the answer will be given in that day.. when the voice of the archangel, and the trump of God is heard.. Then if those bones belong to the author of James, they will be gathered where ever they lie and in any condition they are in, even if atomically dissolved, and they will be glorified into a new body that will never die, this is the answer to "who are you" that my dead bleached bones will give you as well. And in that day will be manifested "who are the sons of god" and who were not. May God Bless you as you study His Word. |

31 | When did say the words at John 10:1-21? | John 10:22 | Scribe | 86574
John 7:2-3 Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand. His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. The feast of tabernaclee was two months before the feast of dedication (renewal) In John 10:22 It is now two months later, and Jesus is using the public activity to minister. THe feast of dedication which was instituted by Juda Maccabaeus between the testaments was in memorial of the purification of the temple after Antiochus Epiphanes had polluted it. I don't think Jesus being there suggest that it was ordained of God as something they were meant to observe. |

32 | husband leave wife for God | Luke | Scribe | 86569
The KJV has the word gune for wife, I don't know why NASB or NIV would leave it out, but there are instances where they left out words that the KJV had in becuase they decided the oldest manuscripts did not have it in there or something to that effect. But really the meaning does not change. Put yourself in the times following the resurrection adn the persecution the church went through for so long. What if a wife told her husband if he kept serving Jesus she would turn him in to the sanhedrin to be killed. He would be forced to forsake his wife for Christ sake, either by death or hiding. Consider a woman in a muslim country who actually wants to live as an oppressed muslim woman and tells her husband that if he accepts Jesus Christ as saviour she will leave him. He would not be initiating a divorce, but if he choose Jesus and she left him, the same could still be said. .he forsook all for Christ. So whether it was father, mother, brother, sister or wife, that threaten to leave him or turn him in to the authorities the same truth is still understood, whether from the NASB or the KJV. Personally I think that the KVJ scholars using the best manuscripts they had plus many other previous translations is good enough for me. I think wife fits in their as well as the rest. We are supposed to honor mother and father also, but this does not mean we do not follow Christ if they tell us not to. The same applies to the wife, we do not seek to divorce an unbelieving wife, but we do not hesitate to obey Christ if she tells us she will leav us if we do. To follow Christ is forsaking her for Him, though we do leave her. May God Bless you as you study His Word. |

33 | Judgement does not heal abuse. | Jer 5:31 | Scribe | 86548
Part 2 of 2 However the majority of divorces (as to the man's opinion) is due to this sin of the women. The majority of divorces are not coming from the man beating the woman (not to make light of that horrible plague, for one case is too many) the majority of divorces from the man's view is coming from the women not getting control of her wagging tongue. She pulls down her house with her own hands and then weeps bitterly and blames the man when he abandons her. Is the man justified for leaving his wife. no not at all... he deals treacherously with her for doing so. Malachi 2:14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. But nevertheless, I see one of the greatest needs in the church to be that of teaching the women that to live like this.. never controlling your tongue and pouring out negative poison on your husband daily is going to lead to divorce and she will only have herself to blame. Women need to understand that what seems like a light thing to them is in God's eyes a horrible sin. So we read.. Ephesians 4:31-32 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Now when a woman reads this and never does it, she is like a woman who build her house on the sand. Matthew 7:24-29 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. We have the promise keepers to help direct the church of men back into the revelation that they should not leave their wives. Now we need a Kindness Keepers organization to remind the women to quit trying to see if their men will leave be seeing how far they can push them with their tongues. And in these meetings we need to remind the church that what comes out of the mouth reveals the condition of the heart. Jesus said that these things defile the man. If a woman is spewing out poison on her husband, then why isn’t she feeling doubt about her heavenly destiny. I certainly would be. I would be convicted and be repenting in dust and ashes. Why do women so often spew out fruits of hell and then get ready for church? I ask this in such a way as to provoke us to see it the way God sees it, fear God and quit thinking we can act that way and still go to heaven. |

34 | Judgement does not heal abuse. | Jer 5:31 | Scribe | 86546
Part 1 of 2 Dear Hatshepsut, Please forgive me if I wrote in such a way that made me come across as judging others, I am not passing judgment on you, your husband or your pastor. I think with a nick name like Scribe I may need to take extra precautions when I speak of these kind of things. However my church and the churches I have fellowshipped with do not believe that the bible teaches that a man can be a flagrant wife beater and go to heaven or be called saved. We do not believe that this is the correct understanding of the doctrine of salvation. I am sorry that there are churches that would say that the wife beater is still going to heaven. I hope to see the day when all churches will wake up to the fact that this scripture is really true. Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: 1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. Can a person fall into sin.. and repent and still be saved.. Of Course.. but that is not what we call a continuous habit of beating women, that is beyond falling into a lust of the flesh. I may sound judgmental to you, but that is the problem with the church, too much confusion about some weird idea that men do not have to really change to be saved. What is repentance and faith but a life change. If there is not radical life change it is ok to say someone needs to be saved. They certainly need to be saved from violent behavior. That someone is a preacher means nothing if they are not walking in holiness. Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. I have heard preachers retell that verse above and make it sound like these were rejected because they did not really "believe the right doctrine" but that is not why they were rejected.. they were rejected because the worked iniquity and we can assume by looking at all the other verses on the subject that it was because they believed a lie that comforted them with the idea that they would not be judged for willful sin in their lives. There is no doubt that your husband CAN be saved, but if anyone is beating their wife we have EVERY reason to doubt the state of their current salvation. And this is clear in the New Testament, it takes a denominational upbringing or a seminary or other books written by "famous" preachers to so confuse us as to think we can be wife beaters and still have "no doubt about our salvation." If I am labeled judgmental for saying it I am willing to accept that as long as someone somewhere along the way is provoked to look at all the scriptures and not just their "favorite ones" that they might have misinterpreted.. and as a result is saved to the uttermost by Jesus Christ being freed from the bondage of sins and able to say.. Praise be to Jesus.. For sin shall not have dominion over me. If my provoking (though not judgmental) words cause others to refuse to agree with false teachings and agree only with the Word of God, so that they hate sin and eschew it, so that they fling all manner of sin (that they know of ) off of themselves with abhorrence and put on Christ, then I do not mind being called provoking, but provoking in Love because I would that all men live a spotless life with the fear of God as they look forward to His coming. May God Bless You as You Study His Word and equip you to Think and Speak only God's Word on the Subject. I will pray for you and your family and you husband as well. As an added note to the subject of women that are extremely hostile toward their husbands, verbally abusing them and almost trying to see how far they can provoke them with hateful words of accusation and poisonous darts of verbal abuse ...Proverbs 14:1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands. In society this horrendous sin is much ignored. Since the woman is not verbally hitting the husband (though inside the man feels a much deeper pain and could take her slapping him better than her horrible words) the world does not consider it that big of a deal. (continued on next post) |

35 | what verse in the bible has a 33 yr gap | Bible general Archive 1 | Scribe | 86541
not to start any kind of debate on it but, it could be that John was referring to all of the things Jesus did that revealed his Glory. such as... John 2:11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him. Mark 9:1-3 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. 2 Peter 1:16-18 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. |

36 | How does the church respond to abuse? | Jer 5:31 | Scribe | 86516
On a follow-up to my previous post, I would also add that I do not say this is not a need to be dealt with by society in general. Certainly it is. There are many organizations that are working hard at exposing this problem and helping women break free from the bondage they are in. What I was addressing in the previous post was that if you get with the right churches you will see that they would be horrified that a pastor would not help you. Should we try and educate that pastor and those churches that hold such views as "that a woman should submit to abuse"? It is a lossing battle. You are putting the cart before the horse. This pastor just needs to get saved. Should we try and argue with someone that says a Practising Homosexual should be allowed to pastor? No! We should give them a gospel tract and stick to the message about salvation, they are not saved that would argue such a thing. They are either reprobate or confused and need to know about how to be saved. There are many churches that have homes and ministries for abused women and will help them with legal, housing, and other needs.
37 | How does the church respond to abuse? | Jer 5:31 | Scribe | 86515
This is a good example of the differences we experience among different denomoniations and groups among those that we call the church. Of all the churches I have fellowshipped with since I was born again, the pastor would have told you to leave and include the law to help protect you and your family, and also provided a place to live while you needed it. Of all the churches that I have belonged to they would have said that this man needed to be born again. We do not believe that a born again saint will abuse his family. A born again man can fall into sin, but will not stay there and must be dealt with as soon as they surface if the man is sincere with the Lord. So it is sad that you experienced such darkness among those that would call themselves saints. I have never known a christian that interpreted the submission scriptures as an excuse to abuse their wives or family. I know it happens but I have never fellowshipped with such people. The churches I have been a part of rightly understood this as a voluntary submission in matters of spiritual leadership and even then the wife's opinion is well respected and decisions are not made without her agreement. Those that belligerantly make important decisions whether the wife agrees or not have always been told in my churches that they were wrong and were misinterpreting the submission scriptures. So you see how I have never seen this as a "big" problem in the church, becuase I have never seen this in the church. If a person fellowships with some denominations and "churches" they will think there is an important need to proove that Homosexuals should not be allowed to preach in the pulpit. When others hear about it they are almost speachless with shock and incredulous wonder that anyone would ever even think it is worth arguing about. If a church is so blind as to argue about that, or to discuss it as a possiblity then they are not the Church at all, they are some group of men that are calling themselves a church but are not even born again. So it is with this question of abuse. Do we really need a movement to convince pastors that they should intervene and help women being abused, and quit telling them to submit to it? No, the true church is shocked that an idiot would suggest such a thing to you. The answer is to find a real church with a real pastor that is really called by God to pastor, a shepherd of the sheep who feeds them the Word of God and is anointed by the Holy Spirit to rightly interpret the word of God. It does not take a theologian to know that you should not submit to abuse. May God Bless You as You Grow in His Word. |
