21 | What is "slain in the spirit"? | 1 Thess 5:21 | Mark7 | 158277
I'm not sure it is necessary to "justify" a manifestation of God. It is my reading of the scripture that they were "slain in the Spirit" in this passage. You obviously disagree. Sometimes our church plays volleyball, although it is not in the Bible. By the way, playing musical instruments IS in the New Testament.

Also, wouldn't you agree that's it's a lot easier to explain salvation after we've experienced it?
23 | What is "slain in the spirit"? | 1 Thess 5:21 | Mark7 | 158315
I know you are not going to see "slain in the Spirit" in this verse, because you don't believe it is from God. As far as I remember, I was not taught this by man. The reason that these types of manifestations only occur in some churches is that only some churches have enough faith over unbelief in this area. See Matthew 13:58. Do you respect Billy Grahm? He was baptised in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. I have explained it, you are unwilling to accept it. "...I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me." "Holy Laughter" is real, too! :) (I just learned it had that name on this website) |

24 | What is "slain in the spirit"? | 1 Thess 5:21 | Mark7 | 158316
I didn't make myself clear: I was speaking more generally of the baptism of the Holy Spirit and ALL its dependent manifestations. I am not particularly interested in you being "slain in the Spirit" also called "falling under the Power". But I would like you to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues as it would be a great benefit to your Christian walk.
25 | What is "slain in the spirit"? | 1 Thess 5:21 | Mark7 | 158317
You don't need to experience it ("slain in the Spirit")! When you were saved, didn't you have an "experience" of salvation? |

26 | What is "slain in the spirit"? | 1 Thess 5:21 | Mark7 | 158318
Jesus Christ the Son of God did/does the "slaying" in both cases.

I have no knowlege of Benny Hinn or the "Word of Faith" heresy.

Please clarify what in the world you are talking about?

One case is the verse extensively referred to. To what exactly do you think I am referring in the second case?
30 | What is "slain in the spirit"? | 1 Thess 5:21 | Mark7 | 158346
Receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit is only living out the truth of the Word of God. To the contrary of your experience, I have found such people more respectful of the Word of God than the average Christian. |

31 | What is "slain in the spirit"? | 1 Thess 5:21 | Mark7 | 158347
I did not receive this from man. I did not refer to God's abilities, only His actions. I did not claim that God needs our help. Where has God in His Word directed not to practice "holy laughter"? |
||||||
32 | What is "slain in the spirit"? | 1 Thess 5:21 | Mark7 | 158348
My seeming over emphasis on "experience" only appears by contrast. I would like all Christians to experience all that God has indicated in His Word is avaiable to them, especially the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
33 | What is "slain in the spirit"? | 1 Thess 5:21 | Mark7 | 158350
"So when He said to them 'I am He' they drew back and fell to the ground." - John 18:6 Being "slain in the Spirit" ("falling in the Power) is not about anyone being slain. |

34 | What is "slain in the spirit"? | 1 Thess 5:21 | Mark7 | 158351
The "plain meaning" of Scripture is always colored by our experience or lack of it.

Yes, God does intend to include dreams as a means of speaking to Christians. "And it shall be in the last days, says God, I will pour forth of my Spirit on all all people; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;" Acts 2:17 The reason some are touchy about "experience" is not that it contradicts the Bible but that it contradicts their interpretaion of such key scriptures as Acts 2:4! If you are a Christian, Jeff, join with a church that respects all of the Bible, and receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and whatever other spiritual gifts and mainifestations God has for you to experience. |

The perfect church that would be imperfect if it admitted me!

1) The only reason the apostle is quoting Joel is to show that it is fulfilled! 3) I did not mean for you to infer that I thought all Christians would have dreams from God. Only that God does work that way. Personally, as far as I can remember, not in my life yet. Maybe I'm not "old" enough yet. 3) I do not believe in relying on experience in contridiction of the Bible, but I do believe in receiving all that the Bible indicates is for me. |

It's too bad you feel that way. I hope it doesn't keep you from receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
