21 | Why is death God's enemy? | 1 Cor 15:25 | FlintyJoe | 207572
Keep putting up a fine fight for the faith. May God help you defend the truth, but it may mean we have to terminate discussions at some point.
22 | Why is death God's enemy? | 1 Cor 15:25 | FlintyJoe | 207573
Did you give yourself the nickname "Doc" after receiving a degree in theology? "Theodicy is pretty heady stuff." You're probably correct if you mean most won't have a clue what they're reading. After all, Paul taught that unless you were a lawyer like him, you could not be one of the elect. "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children."
23 | Death God's friend or enemy? | 1 Cor 15:25 | FlintyJoe | 207576
You say "The Bible uses the words soul and spirit interchangeably." Maybe your translation, but the NIV has at least this verse correct: "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." (Heb 4:12) Why am I not surprised that you aren't familiar with it? |

25 | Did God create evil? | 3 John 1:11 | FlintyJoe | 207892
Among those who hold that fate rules their future are many who believe in God. They feel that God must foreknow all future events. And, based on that assumption, they reason that all future events are predetermined, for what God foreknows cannot fail to take place. Some extend this idea to belief in divine predestination, which means that God has foreordained certain ones of the human race for salvation and the rest for eternal punishment. Has God actually foreknown all things that have taken place throughout history? Does he now definitely know everything that his creatures will do in days to come? Does such a fate rule your future? The Bible makes it plain that many things that happen to people are bona fide accidents, for “time and chance happen to them all.” (Eccl. 9:11) Then, too, God extends to his intelligent creatures the privilege and responsibility of free choice. Ancient Israel was admonished to “choose life” by listening to the LORD God. The prophet Zephaniah urged meek ones to “seek the LORD.” (Deut. 30:19, 20; Zeph. 2:3) God’s Word, at Revelation 22:17, extends the invitation to “anyone that wishes” to take advantage of God’s provisions for salvation. The inspired Scriptures portray God as a merciful, righteous, impartial and loving God. (Deut. 4:31; 32:4; Acts 10:34; 1 John 4:8) Would such a one encourage people to choose what is right if he already knew that fate prevented many from doing that? |

26 | will souls be free of their problrems | Rev 21:4 | FlintyJoe | 207430
Meditate on the account of Lazarus in John chapter 11. Jesus delayed going to his sick friend long enough for his family and friends to watch him suffer and die and then, to mourn. But notice how they reacted when he was resurrected from the dead. They were not upset with Jesus any longer, but were beside themselves over this miracle. This is a mini-example of what we can look forward to in the future. When God's tent resides with mankind, any memories of this old world will be overwhelmed by what God will bring about.
27 | Pure joy in Heaven? | Rev 21:4 | FlintyJoe | 207431
Verse 3 states: "Now God makes his home with people. He will live with them." Many mistakenly read this as if it states that man makes his home with God and now live with him. This prophecy is the completion of God's purpose for the earth. Verse 2 pictures 'the new Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God.' In this way, thru Christ and his bride, it will be "as if" God is making his home with us. "In that way, God will be all in all." (1 Cor 15:28)
