21 | To learn the truth | OT general | David_24597 | 72377
Correct me if I'm wrong but I heard somewhere that Allah is a god of war. And that the Koran states that a Muslim can rape a Jewish child and still be considered a righteous man. The christian God is a God of Love and rape is wrong no matter who the victim is. |

22 | Can a person lose salvation? | Bible general Archive 1 | David_24597 | 72376
I would agree with that. If a person becomes saved and then refuses to "follow on to know the Lord" (Hos. 6:3) he CAN loose his salvation. Hos. 4:6 also states that the saved (God's people) can be destroyed because they reject the knowledge given to them. Even Heb. 6:4-6 (especially verse 6) shows that Jesus CANNOT be crucified a second time. Once the first time has been accomplished (accepted) a second repentance is impossible. Now I know that a righteous man falls many times (Prov. 24:16) yet gets back up again. This text in Heb. 6 (also Heb. 10:26-27) would then indicate a falling away and a REFUSAL to repent from it. |

23 | To learn the truth | Bible general Archive 1 | David_24597 | 72374
In OT times the Jews WERE God's people. They were the fulfillment of God's promise to Abraham for his obedience. God promised to greatly multiply Abraham's seed and to give them the promised land to live in. Also (though I can't quite remember where) God promised him that the saviour would be born in this nation. In NT times God's people are those that choose to follow Him. I believe that a "Jew" is then used as a symbol to indicate a true christian. Rom. 2:28-29 and Gal. 3:7 and 28-29 |

24 | who is this in Rev8:3-5what is he doing? | Rev 8:5 | David_24597 | 72371
The only being I know of that the Bible says is in the temple in heaven and that mediates between God and man is Jesus. Wouldn't this "Angel" of Rev. 8:3-5 be a symbol for Jesus? If so then verse 5 actually shows that He stops his work of mediation right before the seven trumpets sound. Does this mean that once the "great tribulation" starts (the seven last trumpets and the seven last plagues) that this is the time when God's Spirit is taken from the earth and God no longer offers a fallen mankind the chance for repentance? Rev. 22:11 and 12 shows this also, right before Jesus comes. Does anyone else have any ideas about Rev. 8:3-5? |

26 | Pastor Preaching in a Mad way!!!!!! | Bible general Archive 1 | David_24597 | 72364
That's a hard question to answer. Of course people are welcome to believe whatever they want to believe. If this pastor is teaching the word of God people are free to believe him or not. Then again if this pastor is only teaching what he believes and it is in contradiction to what the Bible teaches then I would say, "get out". Then there is II Tim. 4:3-4 (among others) that show people looking for teachers to teach them what they want to hear (not what the Bible really says). "Clouds without water?" I would say, "yes". II Peter 2:17 "Carried about of winds?" Jude 12 Read Eph. 4:14
27 | a B.C. date for creation? | OT general | David_24597 | 72362
Well, a study of I and II Sam, I and II Kings and I and II Chron. give a continuous timeline of the reign of the kings of Israel and Judah. Beginning with 586 B.C. the last year of the reign of Zedekiah (when Babylon overthrew Jerusalem) the dates of the reign of Solomon king of Israel would be from 978 B.C. to about 1018 B.C. Then I Kings 6:1 shows 480 years from Solomon's fourth year as king to the exodus from Egypt (approx. 1495 B.C). Mt. Sinai took place two years AFTER they left Egypt 1494 or 1493 B.C. (Num. 9:1) They were in Egypt for 430 years - Ex. 12:40 (400 years as slaves 30 years as free men before they became slaves). Jacob was 130 years old (1926 or 1925 B.C.) Gen. 47:9. So Jacob was born about 2057-2055 B.C. Isaac was 60 years old when Jacob was born. So Isaac was born about 2118-2115 B.C. a year after the destruction of Sodom and Gommorha (2119-2116 B.C.). Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born and 99 years old when Sodom and Gommorha were destroyed (Gen. 17:24 through 19:38 and 21:5). So Abraham was born about 2219-2215 B.C. when his father Terah was 70 (Gen. 11:26). From there it was a simple matter to add the lives of the patriarch immediately after the flood from Gen. chapter 11 to each date to discover the year of the flood was about 2519-2507 B.C. Noah was then 600 years old (Gen. 7:11). Now read Gen. chapter 5. As far as I can tell creation took place between the years 4163 and 4183 B.C. The reason the discrepency of the dates grows from Solomon to Adam is because the Bible doesn't give the month and day of these peoples births - only the age of the father when the son was born. Consider if the father (let's say Terah) was born in December (or what we would now call December LOL) of the year 2285 B.C. and his son (Abraham) was born in January, when Tearh was 70 years old, it would have to be in the year 2214 (71 years later. For this reason the "range" of the dates grows by half a year for each generation (to cover the possibility that a year would "turn over" before the son was born). Giving a date for creation of 4183-4163 B.C. Course it might even be more accurate to say that creation took place in the year 4173 B.C. give or take 10 years. Does anyone else have any ideas about this. I know that some consider the life spans of the patriarchs before the flood to be allegorical and not the actual length that they lived. However Gen. chapter 11 shows their life spans growing less and less until Terah who only lived 205 years and Abraham was only 175 years old when he died. Moses was 120. Anyway (because of Gen. 11) I think that those before the flood actually had much greater lifespans than we do know. Shem (Noah's son) was about 98 when the flood came and lived for 502 more years after the flood (Gen. 11:10-11). So I believe the account of their lifespans is, in fact, an accurate account of how long they lived. |

continued from previous post... (for Aften1) Here is a partial list of the codes of the prophecies being interpreted by the Bible itself. There are others as well if you are really interested. If you just let the Bible interpret it's own sayings, you will find that it IS possible to understand what is being said in the prophecies. the sea – denotes peoples, nations, multitudes and tongues (the "then-known" world) Rev. 17:15 the earth – a new world or land unknown in Bible times – Rev. 13:11 and 10:2 the four winds – Blowing winds represent destruction, plagues, wars, etc. – Isa. 40:7 and 24; Hosea 8:7; Matt. 7:27. Winds held back are great destructions held in check by divine intervention – Rev. 7:1-3 beasts – world dominating nations or kingdoms – Dan. 7:23 a beast rising out of the wind-blown sea – a nation or kingdom rising out of political strife and discord (wars between nations) to dominate the world – e.g. Dan. 7:2-3 and Rev. 13:1 a beast rising out of the earth – would be a new nation (previously unknown) rising out of a previously unknown land and dominating the world. – Rev. 13:11, 14 and 16 a king – symbol of the nation which he rules over – Dan. 2:37-39 and 7:17 and 23 horn – nation or kingdom – Dan. 7:24 and 8:3,8 and 20-22 wings - speed or swiftness – Deut. 28:29; Jer. 4:13 symbolic day – a year of real time – Num. 14:34; Ezek. 4:6. Also note the "seventy weeks" of Dan. 9:24 translates literally as "seventy weeks of years". Given seven days per week one symbolic week would be seven years of real time – seven days per week (seventy weeks is 490 years: 7 x 70). see also Isa. 34:8, 61:2 and 63:4 symbolic month – 30 years of real time according to the Hebrew calendar of 30 days per month symbolic year – 360 years of real time according to the Hebrew calendar of 360 days per year time – one symbolic year – Dan. 7:25 and 12:7 time, times and the dividing of time or time, times and a half – would be three and a half symbolic years or 1260 symbolic days – 1260 years of real time the half hour – in Rev. 8:1 is approx. one week of real time (day for a year - 1/2 day (12 hours) equals 1/2 year (6 months) therefore 2 hours equals 1 month (4 weeks), 1 hour equals 2 weeks, 1/2 hour is therefore approx one week) the glorious holy mountain – in Dan. 11:45 is Jerusalem - Dan. 9:16 a Jew – spiritual Israel, a true Christian – Rom. 2:28; Gal. 3:7, 28 and 29 a pure woman – God's people or church – Isa. 62:5; Matt. 25:1; John 3:29; II Cor. 11:2; Rev. 14:4 a wicked woman – a false church a woman riding upon a beast – Rev. 17:1-6 – is therefore a false church using political powers to enforce its religious laws the host and stars of heaven – God's people – Dan. 8:10 and 24 and 12:3 the Prince of the host – Jesus – Dan. 8:11 and 25, 10:21 and 12:1 grass – all living flesh – Isa. 40:6; James 1:10; I Peter 1:24 trees – mighty men of the earth – Judges 9:7-21; Ps. chapt. 1; Ezek. chapt. 17; Dan. 4:20-22; Matt. 3:10 and 12:33 the sword of the Spirit – the Word of God – Heb. 4:12; Eph. 6:17; II Thess. 2:8; Rev. 1:16, 2:16 and 19:15 the cup in God’s hand – symbol of His wrath – Isa. 51:21-23 and 54:8 and 9; Jer. 13:13, 25:15-38 and 51:6-11; Ezek. 23:31-35; Matt. 20:22, 23 and 26:39, 42; Mark 4:36; Luke 22:42; John 18:11; Rev. 14:10 the dregs thereof – would be the last of the cup poured out at the very end (and the most bitter) gold – faith – Job 23:10; Dan. 12:10 I Peter 1:7 gold tried in the fire – faith made perfect in the furnace of affliction – Isa. 48:10 white raiment – clothed in righteousness – Rev. 19:8 eyesalve (enabling one to see) – the anointing of the Holy Spirit and the discerning of good from evil – Rev. 3:18 Anyway, I hope this helps. I know I've only scratched the surface here. There are other texts that "decode" the symbols used in the prophecies, and other symbols as well that I haven't mentioned. This is just a sample of how the Bible interprets itself. Sorry I had to divide this up into two posts. It wouldn't let me submit this all in one post. |

Aften1, you supplied the following texts: "Isaiah 29 10 For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered. 11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: 12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned." If you read the rest of the chapter you will see that these things are hidden from the wicked. Check out verses 13-16. You also supplied this text: "Daniel 12 8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? 9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand." Again the wicked do not understand but the wise will understand. And verse 9 clearly shows that the words are sealed "till the time of the end". The text in Rev. 1:1 says just the opposite. That these things are not sealed. That John was shown these things and understood what they meant. Nowhere does it state that he (John) "sealed" these things from those he wrote to. In fact verse 3 IMPLIES an understanding. Then your text in Rev. 5:1-2. Again if you read the rest of the chapter you will find that these seals were opened. verses 5 and 9. And chapter 6 even records each of the seven seals being opened. (Well, except for the seventh seal. It gets opened in 8:1). Now consider Amos 3:7, Aften. I Cor. 2:10; Eph. 3:5. There are others as well that show these things ARE revealed to God's people. Even the title of the book of Revelation means "a revealing" not a sealed writing. continued in next post... |

It will take time to show you all the texts in the Bible that "decifer" the codes of the prophecies. Why don't we start by you showing me from the Bible why you think the prophecies are still "sealed"? And I don't understand what you mean by "channeling spirits". please clarify. |

aften, aften, "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Rom. 3:23 Nobody has "gotten it right". And I have yet to find any scriptural support for a "pre-trib rapture". The Bible teaches that the saved are still on the earth during the "great tribulation". They are protected from it. I'm sure a lot of people here can supply enough texts for this. I'm too tired right now but will go through it later with you if you want. David |

36 | What is the time of the tribulation? | Bible general Archive 1 | David_24597 | 72229
Thx, Brad. I, too, take II Tim. 2:15 very seriously (as well as Isa. 8:20 and 28:10). I'm glad this forum isn't just another way for some church to further their own agendas. If that were the case I would find a different forum/website (group) to study the Bible with. I believe if we let the Bible tell us what it means (especially some more difficult, hard to understand texts) then we will all, eventually, come to the same truths together. Personally I prefer the KJV of the Bible. I find it is a more accurate translation from the originals than other translations. Still, though, I find it necessary to research the exact literal translation from the originals just in case those that interpreted the KJV might have made some mistakes. I have found a few (but not many) and sometimes this research even shows a deeper meaning to the text than I might have previously thought. Anyway (so far LOL) I like this forum and enjoy having Bible discussions with anyone. Especially if I end up going back to the Bible and looking stuff up and cross referencng them and...LOL. If I seem to be shory tempered, or abrubt or anything in some things I say please forgive me. I don't mean to be that way. We all have personallity flaws that we must work on. Mine is lack of patience and short tempered nature. I also have trouble being tolerant of ignorance. Please forgive me ahead of time if I offend anyone. I'm still wotking on these problems myself. And don't really mean to be so blunt at times. |

37 | what was the org. day of the sabbath | Matt 28:1 | David_24597 | 72226
Yes, the original Sabbath of the fourth Commandment was Saturday. It was changed by the Roman Cahtolic Church. Note the following quotes from the Catholic Church itself: "Question: Have you any other way of proving that the church has power to institute festivals of precept? "Answer: Had she not such power she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her: she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday the seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority." A Doctrinal Catechism, by Rev. Stephen Keenan, page 174. "Question: What day was the Sabbath? "Answer: Saturday "Question: Who changed it? "Answer: The Catholic Church." From Rev. Dr. Butler's Catechism, Revised, Page 57. "It was the Catholic Church which, ...has transformed this rest to the Sunday in remembrance of the resurrection of our Lord. Thus the observance of Sunday by the Protestants is an homage they pay, in spite of themselves, to the authority of the (Catholic) Church." Plain Talk About the Protestants of Today, by Msgr. Segur, Page 213. The first Sunday law ever made was that issued by the Emperor Constantine, March 7, A.D. 321, which reads as follows: "Let all judges and town people, and the occupation of all trades rest on the venerable day of the sun; but let those who are situated in the country, freely and at full liberty, attend to the business of agriculture; because it often happens that no other day is so fit for sowing corn and planting vines; lest the critical moment being let slip men should lose the commodities granted by heaven." Corpus Juris Civilis Cod.: lib. 3, tit.12,3 So, far a little while, the christians of the time were keeping BOTH Saturaday AND Sunday as days of rest. In A.D. 364 the council of Laodicea forbade the observance of the seventh-day Sabbath: "Sabbath, Change of, Action of Council of Laodicea on A.D. 364 – Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday (Sabbath, original) but shall work on that day; but the Lord's day they shall especially honor, and, as being Christians, shall, if possible, do no work on that day. If, however, they are found Judaizing, they shall be shut out from Christ." A History of the Councils of the Church: from the Original Documents, Rt. Rev. Charles Joseph Hefele, D.D., Bishop of Rottenburg, book 6, sec. 93, canon 29 (Vol. II, page 316). Edinburgh: T and T Clark, 1896. From this point on the Sabbath of the fourth Commandment was forsaken in favor of the pagan sabbath on Sunday. |

OK Pemican, I see where you're coming from now. Have you researched Dan. 9:24-27 in the original languages? Anyway, if you read the text, you can see that it doesn't mention anywhere in there that the last week of the 70 weeks are divided from the first 69 weeks by another time period. Rather consider what is to occur throughout the entire 70 weeks in verse 24. One of them is "to make reconciliation for iniquity". This could only be the death of Jesus on the cross. Now consider verse 25. The starting point of the 70 weeks is given here. The "command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem". There are three recorded decrees for this. The last one (and the one that actually prompted the Jewish migration to Jerusalem with the intent to rebuild it) is recorded in Ezra 6:3 and dates to the year 457 B.C. Seven weeks later (49 years) the streets and walls of Jerusalem were built (408 B.C. - look it up). 62 weeks after that (434 years) would bring us to the Messiah - the "Annointed One" (I'm still in verse 25). This brings us to the year 27 A.D. (remember there was no zero year - 1 A.D. came after 1 B.C.). It's pretty much well know that Jesus was born late Sept./early Oct. in the year 4 B.C. At this time the old Levitical laws were still in effect and a Priest or Prophet would begin His public ministry when He turned 30 years of age. Jesus was baptised/annointed when he turned 30 on the year 27 A.D. (coincidence?). The first 69 weeks of the 70 is now over. Now go back to verse 24 and (knowing that Jesus had not yet been crucified in 27 A.D.) that the "reconciliation for iniquity" had not yet happened. Yet it belongs in the 70 weeks. Now consider verse 27. "In the midst of the week He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease." The "sacrifice and oblation" ("zebach minchah" in Hebrew) refer to the sacrificial services of the old Levitical laws (Look it up). Jesus' public ministery lasted for 3 1/2 years at the end of which He was crucified and the Levitical sacrificial system ended (another coincidence?). Also consider the "overspreading of abominations He shall make it desolate" is NOT the "abomination of desolation" mentioned in others parts of Daniel or in Matt. 24. From the way it is worded (even in the Hebrew - "shiqquwts shamen") it shows a "desolation (or destruction) of abomination". This also happened at Jesus' crucifixion (the Jewish sacrificial system had become corrupted and WAS an abomination at this time). Jesus' death on the cross destroyed it (made it desolate). No offense to anyone, but I'm starting to wonder if this forum is not church affiliated in any way. I thought at first that it might be a forum or group of people interested in studying the Bible, but I'm seeing a lot of indoctrinated beliefs in here. Not just this thread but in other threads on the forum as well. I've only been here a short time but have seen several instances where some of the plain techings of the Bible are being discarded in favor of indoctrinated beliefs. Has anybody else experienced this also? |

Rev. 18:8 with Isa. 34:8 and 63:4 states it will only last for one year. Matt. 24:21-22 shows that this time period will be even shorter that that else no flesh would be saved.
