21 | what does prosperity or wealth mean in b | Bible general Archive 2 | Brendac | 115606
God desires for us to be prosperous in every area of our lives. In Philippians 4:19 He is referring to financial prosperity. In 3 John :2 He is referring to spiritual, financial and healthwise. Deut 8:18 - financial. Psalm 35:27 He take pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. This is also financial prosperity. However I was given a great explanation of prosperity some years ago and that is : Being able to meet ANY given need at ANY given time. We can hardly term ourselves prosperous if we are sick or battling financially, or having marital/family problems, not walking in the fruits of the Spirit. Not sure if I have been of assistance. |

22 | the meaning of name adonai | Bible general Archive 2 | Brendac | 115603
YAHWE (HEBREW) JEHOVA (ENGLISH) – THE SELF-EXISTENT ONE, WHO REVEALS HIMSELF AND CHANGES NOT When Jehova is referred to in the Word, LORD is always written in capital letters. ADONAI – MASTER, OWNER OR LORD When God is referred to as Adonai in the Word Lord is always written in lower case. Adonai can be applied to both God and man. When applied to man it is written with a lower case “l” and here it means master or husband. Yahweh doesn't refer to Adonai but to Jehova as above. |

23 | why don't people study the old testmant | Bible general Archive 2 | Brendac | 115602
I agree Ischus. I think we can also learn so much from the OT men of faith and how in their obedience they were blessed. Just take Joshua for example!! The OT also is a shadow of the NT and we will actually miss out on a lot in the NT by not studying the OT!! |

26 | Hebrew names of God and their meanings? | Bible general Archive 2 | Brendac | 115588
There are three names for God and the rest stem from those. They are : Elohim, Jehova and Adonai Elohim : All powerful creator El is the root of Elohim. El describes God’s greatness/glory and displays God’s power and sovereignty. El means strength or strong one. Alah, the verb from which Elah and Elohim come means to bind oneself by oath, i.e. faithfulness. Elohim is a plural noun with a singular meaning which describes the divine trinity of the Godhead. Yahwe (Heb)/Jehova (Eng) : THE SELF-EXISTENT ONE, WHO REVEALS HIMSELF AND CHANGES NOT When Jehova is referred to in the Word, LORD is always written in capital letters. Adonai ADONAI – MASTER, OWNER OR LORD When God is referred to as Adonai in the Word Lord is always written in lower case. Adonai can be applied to both God and man. When applied to man it is written with a lower case “l” and here it means master or husband. Then you get El Shaddai. It stems from the word "field" as fields produce abundance. It is translated "breast" or "the many breasted one" which signifies nourishment and productiveness. In this sense God is shown as the One Who is mjore than enough/He Who is all sufficient. El Elyon - Most High or Most High God. Gen 14:17-24 El Olam : Everlasting God. It is the equivalent of the Greek aion, signifying age or dispensation. Olam expresses the idea of secrecy or hidingness. The everlasting God is therefore the name of Deity in virtue of whcih He is the God whose wisdom has divided all time and eternity into the mystery of successive ages or dispensations. It is not merely that he is everlasting, but that He is God over everlasting things. Eph 1:9, 10; 3:3-6 There are three names compounded with Yahwe : LORD God, Lord LORD, and LORD of Hosts. LORD God - Yahwe Elohim Gen 2:4 Lord LORD - Adonai Yahwe - Gen 15:2 LORD of Hosts - Yahwe Sabaoth - 1 Sam 1:3 Jehova Jireh - the LORD will provide. Jehova M'kaddesh - Jehova Who sanctifies - Lev 20:7, 8 Jehova-nissi - the LORD our banner - Ex 17:8-15 Jehova-rapha - the LORD that healeth - Ex 15:26 Jehova-shalom - the LORD our peace/the LORD send peace - Judges 6:24 Jehova-tsidkenu - the LORD our righteousness - Jer 23:6 Jehova-roi - the LORD my shepherd - Psa 23 Jehova-shammah - the LORD is present - Ezek 48:35 Jehova-tsebaoth - tsaba means to wage war/render service to God the noun is armies, hosts, or multitudes - a vast sea of varying ranks and indivuduals under God's command. We see Jehova Tsebaoth in the OT with Deborah and Barak. See also with Hezekiah in 2 Kings 20:11. Jehova-makkeh - the LORD our Smiter - His purpose is to shape and perfect us into smooth, lively stones that are molded together and operate in a unified manner - Ezek 7:9 Jehova-gmolah - the LORD of Recompenses - Jer 51:56 Jehova-elohay - Jehova MY God. El-elohe-Israel - the personal God of Israel Jehova-eloheenu - Jehova OUR God. Trust that this assists you. Brenda |

28 | where did Jesus go after dieing? | Col 2:15 | Brendac | 115583
Jesus went and fought a spiritual battle. He went to hell, stripped the devil of all his power/authority and took the keys of hell. Don't forget when Adam and Eve sinned they basically gave the earth and everything on the earth to satan and he became the god of this earth. Before the death of Jesus he had power/authority given to him by Adam and Eve. Jesus went and stripped him of that power/authority. (Colossians 2:13-15. Matthew 12:29 is actually prophetic. Jesus bound satan and then spoilt his goods. See also John 12:30-32, Heb 2:14, 15, 1 John 3:8, Gen 3:15 Matthew 28:18, 19 All authority given to Jesus in heaven AND ON EARTH. So he had to have stripped satan of his authority. These days all the devil can do is give us thoughts and ideas, it is up to us whether we act on those negative/evil thoughts, but he has no other power whatsoever over us. Jesus then also gave us all authority over satan. That is why when Jesus rose from the dead He rose totally triumphant!! See Luke 4:6 |
