21 | What happens to our spirit at death? | 1 Cor 15:42 | Amber_G | 31450 | ||
When we die, as long as we are Christians, we go immediately into the presence of Christ. Paul in his letter to the Corinthians wrote, "We live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. When our body ceases to function, our spirit-person departs the body and immediately enters into the presence of Christ where we dwell until the rapture when we who are dead in Christ come with Him to witness the rapture of the Church (the bride of Christ) and to recieve our glorified bodies. Our bodies in the grave will be resurrected, just as Christ's was, and we will be rejoined with our bodies, however these bodies will not be moldy or even otherwise flawed. They will be perfect and with out illness. 1 Corinthians 15:42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; "Spirit sleep" is a term that is often used by groups who are outside the realms of true Christian orthodoxy. No where in the Bible is soul sleep mentioned. |
