21 | Marriage as a Covenant Relationship? | Eph 5:32 | AllenRhoades | 206819
i guess i do not understand your note. did you mean admonition "for" the older women? or that the older women are to admonish younger women to love? either way, isn't it a command from the lord that the older women teach the younger women to love their husbands? |

22 | Lead us not | Luke 5:18 | AllenRhoades | 206799
thank you for your blessings bowler, and no apologies needed. but i am not a pastor (greek word:shepherd). although some are gifted to care and teach as a shepherd does, only christ is the one shepherd in that we are his flock and we submit to his authority. (matthew 23:8, 28:18-20, john 10:16 and 1 peter 5:2-4)
23 | Timothy's Gifts and Title? | 1 Tim 1:18 | AllenRhoades | 206795
he was timothy. we should be careful not to read of the early believers and assume they were like us. they probably didn't gather at 11 on sunday morning in a steepled building with pews and gather around a sermon. encouragement and edifying to one another seems to be the norm. see 1 cor 14:26 and hebrews 10:24-25 in the letter to the thessalonians from paul, silvanas, and timothy, at least two of them were called apostles: 1 Thess 2:6 nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, even though as apostles of Christ we might have asserted our authority. could that been timothy also? he was sent to them. blessings, allen |

24 | Marriage as a Covenant Relationship? | Eph 5:32 | AllenRhoades | 206790
the scripture does command older women to teach the younger women to love their husbands: Titus 2:3,4 "Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children" |

25 | should you be baptist again, if you fall | 1 Pet 3:21 | AllenRhoades | 206743
i know of no re-baptisms in the scriptures. do you? there are calls to help a wandering believer to repent in galations 6:1 and james 5:19,20 but no mention of a re-baptism. i think the verse you mention of "baptism now saves us" is clarified by peter in the next line -"not the removal of dirt from the flesh" which i think is the physical water but an inward aspect instead - "but an appeal to god for a good conscience -through the resurrection of jesus christ" |

26 | Divorced, Am I going to hell? | Matt 5:32 | AllenRhoades | 206740
truly what god has joined should not be divided; however, that division is already in place. the law states that it would be an abomination to now go back to your first husband. although it could be debated that we are not under law, i think there is at least some moral consideration here. deut 24:4 her former husband who sent her away is not allowed to take her again to be his wife, since she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before the LORD But on your question of hell, remember most books in the new testament were written by a man who killed followers of christ. even after he repented the results of his previous actions were still there (and i would say they were worse results that we could even imagine). yet he lived by faith in the son of god who loved him and gave his life for him. imitate him as he imitated christ. blessings, allen |

27 | Lead us not | Luke 5:18 | AllenRhoades | 206739
blessings bowler, i use www.zhubert.com for the greek studies. this is a great tool. if you then click a word it gives fuller information including the LSJ and Middle Liddell which are two works (one an update of the other) which list extra-biblical uses of the greek. but use this with caution as the extra-biblical text tends to be the ancient greek, not a contemporary of the koine greek of the new testament. |

28 | Lead us not | Luke 5:18 | AllenRhoades | 206627
Tim Moran is correct its the aorist form. (Wow Tim! Did you really do that without a book?) The "introduce" is one of the meaings of the word listed from the LSJ. The LSJ lists ancient greek sources also so perhaps that meaning was not even used for koine greek. However, whether "introduce" fits with 1 tim 6:7 or not does not preclude its possible fit within the context of other passages. Lets just not start a new denomination over it :) blessings, allen |

29 | Lead us not | Luke 5:18 | AllenRhoades | 206587
eisenegkas - to carry/bring into. Like the friends of the paralytic brought him into the house where Jesus was. Also 1 Tim 6:7 We brought nothing into the world. Another meaning (maybe earlier) was "to introduce". An interesting thought - "and do not introduce us into trials." I would like to hear what you gathered in studying the example prayer sometime. |
