Hello lionheart, this is also in answer to your reply: After John the Baptist went to prison, then Jesus Christ began His earthly Ministry. Don't stumble on Jn 3:22-4:3 because that was before John was put in prison. After John was put in prison, then Jesus Christ told us all to "repent and believe", Mk 1:14-15. Believe what, exactly? What we must seek first and find first according to Mt 6:33; Ro 1:16-21? Then, during Jesus Christ's entire earthly Ministry, there were no physical water baptisms at all, none, zero, and no opportunity to do them for any of the disciples who were sent out two by two. Only in Ac 8 and Ac 10, we read of the believing Jews having a temporary problem with non-Jews that was not continued after they realized that non-Jews are saved just like believing Jews -- through repentance and faith that leads to obedience, Mk 1:14-15; Ac 11; Ac 15; etc. Paul always taught about the one baptism we must have, the one baptism that we must spiritually drink, 1Co 12:12-13; Eph 4:4-7. In Ro 1-8 and Col 1-4 he also described that one baptism as a spiritual circumcision. This is what it means to take up our cross and follow Jesus Christ. However: 1Co 1:17. For Christ sent me not to baptize but to preach the Gospel, not in wisdom of words, lest the Cross of Christ should be made void. 18. For the Word of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness but unto us who are saved it is the Power of God. 19. For it is written, 'I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and the discernment of the discerning will I bring to nought.' 20. Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21. For seeing that in the Wisdom of God the world through its wisdom knew not God; it was God's good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save them that believe. 22. Seeing that Jews ask for signs and Greeks seek after wisdom 23. but we preach Christ crucified -- unto Jews a stumblingblock and unto Gentiles foolishness 24. but unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the Power of God and the Wisdom of God. 2Co 12:9. And He hath said unto me, "My Grace is sufficient for thee, for my Power is made perfect in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, will I rather Glory in my weaknesses, that the Power of Christ may rest upon me. anne |

Hello lionheart, Here is the first half of my reply: You commend me for the time, effort and research but true Christians, with the anointing from the Holy One described in 1Jn 2, do not need anyone to teach us the basics of salvation. Also, when we are truly saved, God has given us His Power that is Wisdom, Righteousness, Sanctification and Redemption through Jesus Christ, 1Co 1. As Jesus Christ breathed on His disciples almost 2000 years ago, so must He breathe on His disciples today. Remember, Jesus Christ does not change, Heb 13. Why do you quote Ac 2:38 by itself? Read Ac 2:38 in the full context of Lk 24; Ac 1-2, minimum. What did Jesus Christ say about His Power and His baptism? Why did Peter quote Joel and the other OT Scriptures? What is the Gift? What is the Promise? What does it mean to call on the Name of the Lord? Was Peter also quoting from Isa 59? Yes, he was. Jesus Christ told us all to repent and believe after John went to prison, Mk 1:14-15. Believe what, exactly? Have Faith in what, exactly? Is this what we must seek first and find first as we read in Mt 6:33; Ro 1:16-21? Yes. Is this the entrance to the narrow Gate and the narrow Road that few will find, Mt 7; Lk 11-12? Yes. Isa 59:19. "So shall they fear the Name of THE LORD from the west and His Glory from the rising of the sun. For He will come as a rushing stream, which the breath of THE LORD driveth! 20. And a Redeemer will come to Zion and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob," saith THE LORD. 21. "And as for me, this is my Covenant with them," saith THE LORD. "My Spirit that is upon thee and my Words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed," saith THE LORD, "from henceforth and forever." HE WILL COME AS A RUSHING STREAM! HIS WORDS SHALL NOT DEPART! Read Ps 72! Read Jn 7:37-39! Read Ac 13 and 1Pe 1! Ac 2: 39. "For to you is the Promise and to your children and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call unto Him." However, many are called but few are chosen, Mt 22. Ac 2:40. And with many other Words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Save yourselves from this crooked generation!" Read 1Pe 1 more than once. How are true Christians purified? How are true Christians born again? Is there a contradiction between 1Pe 1 and Jn 3:1-21? No, there is not because Jn 3:1-21 is also about the Living Water of Jn 4:1-26; Jn 7:37-39; etc. Ac 2:41. They then that received his Word were baptized and there were added unto them in that day about three thousand souls ... 47b. And the Lord added to them day by day those that were saved! THE LORD ADDED TO THEM DAY BY DAY THOSE THAT WERE SAVED! Lk 24:49. 49. "And behold! I send forth the Promise of my Father upon you but tarry ye in the city, until ye be clothed with Power from on High!" Ac 1:5. "For John indeed baptized with water but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days hence ... 8. But ye shall receive Power when the Holy Spirit is come upon you and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea and Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the Earth. Ro 1:16. For I am not ashamed of the Gospel; for it is the Power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. |

Hello Talmid, Thank you for your reply. You wrote: "it is by faith that we are saved" and that is true but that statement can mean many different things to many different people and it does but there is only "one Faith" that will save us, Eph 4:4-7. In Mt 6:33, Jesus Christ told us to seek first God's Kingdom and God's Righteousness. In Ro 1:16-21, we read what Paul wrote about that same saving Faith and that same saving Righteousness. What we must find also has everything to do with the narrow Gate and the narrow Road, Mt 7. What, exactly, must we find according to Mt 6:33? I think you have misunderstood me. Please, read my previous comments again. I can't list them here due to a space requirement by the site. The "split" you mentioned took place in Ac 11 where the believing Jews learned that Gentiles are saved just like them -- through repentance and faith. Are you a child of Abraham? All true Christians must be the Children of Abraham. Did Abraham have the Torah or any other Scriptures? When was Abraham credited with Righteousness from God and why? The Scriptures remain the "letter that kills" for everyone who does not have the exact "one Faith", 2Co 3-4. Do you think those who did not have access to the Scriptures or those who never heard a true Christian preach had no opportunity to be saved? Well, they all have and only the exact original Gospel Truth can explain it. However, more will be required from those of us with the Scriptures and Jesus Christ's request in Mt 6:33 is very specific. What, exactly, must we find first of all? Those who have found, will certainly know exactly what they found and how. As far as the Reformation and whom to "cite", i would highly recommend that you read Robert Barclay's "Apology for the True Christian Divinity" written over 300 years ago. Let me ask you this: How is it possible that i learned what is written in that book 3 and 1/2 years before i knew about it or about the people who believed in its teaching? Except for an occasional very minor non-salvation issue, i had also believed what was written by those true Christians, 3 and 1/2 years before i knew what they had believed in and what they had written. Over 150 years after it was written, Barclay's book alone remained on a controversial shelf at Oxford where all other writings had been successfully disputed and removed. Only Barclay's Apology remained 150 years later and that is no surprise since what is written in it totally agrees with the Teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ and all of His true servants. As far as Paul and the Law: Paul knew that the New Covenant must be spiritual. God is Spirit and He must be worshipped in Spirit and in Truth, Jn 4:1-26. All true Christians will have God's Law of Faith written on their heart and in their minds, Heb 8-10. Do you understand what Paul meant when he wrote about the letter that kills? Do you understand how true Christians must exceed the old Law and how that becomes possible? Of course, not all Jews had a problem with Gentiles not being circumcised but there were other issues, like eating together and the kinds of foods and the washing rituals. It took time for some to adjust and others never did but those problems and the people who caused them were symbolic of others who would come and cause similar problems. Although in Galatians, Paul primarily focused on the specific problem of physical circumcisions, what Paul wrote there also applies to all other physical rituals from the OT Law. You said, AMEN, to the repentance and faith that leads to obedience. What, exactly, must we believe as we read in Mk 1:14-15 and many other Scriptures? You also agreed with Mt 5:17-20 but you didn't answer my simple question about Eph 2. It does appear that Paul was contradicting what Jesus Christ said about not abolishing the Law but he didn't. What was Paul teaching us there? You are right that not one of us has deserved to be saved through Jesus Christ. We cannot be saved without receiving Righteousness from God, that is true but how, exactly, do we receive it? We must seek first and that command must be taken in a very large context of the Gospels, Mt 1-7, minimum, but all of Mt 1-13 and Lk 10-13 are even better. God's entire Holy Bible is about His Righteousness, His Righteous Requirements, His Gift of Righteousness and His Righteous Judgment. More will be required from those who have more and those of us with the Scriptures were told to seek first and we must find first but it is in plain sight. I'd also like to remind everyone that it is always a very good idea to take Mt 23:8-12 and Jn 6:45 very seriously, anne |

A person cannot live under both the Law of Sin and Death and the Law of the Spirit of Life at the same time; it must be one or the other. God mercifully allowed a transition from Judaism to Christianity as we can see from the first 15 chapters of Acts. Paul temporarily continued with a few select Jewish rituals, not because they had anything to do with salvation anymore but to cater to the weak Jews in order to win them over to Jesus Christ, probably while the physical temple was still standing. I seriously doubt that any of the true Christians continued in any of the "ordinances" after the physical temple ceased to exist. It took some Jews time to adjust, especially to the fact that God was saving Gentiles exactly as He had saved the first believing Jews -- through repentance and faith that leads to obedience, Ac 11:1-18. Also, read Mt 5-7. Jesus Christ came to fulfill the Law and Prophets, not to abolish. Did Paul contradict Him in Eph 2? No, not at all but why not? Jesus Christ also said we must exceed the righteousness of the Pharisees or we will not enter into His Kingdom. How is that accomplished? Do you know? And, there in Mt 5-7, we read how true Christians must exceed the OT Law and that is only possible for someone who belongs to the Law of the Spirit of Life. To belong to that Law we must seek first as Jesus Christ told us to do in Mt 6:33. What is it, exactly, that we must find? In the service of the Righteous One, anne |

25 | how you have so much faith | 2 Tim 2:15 | canawedding | 193500
Hello Doc, In Mk 1:14-15, Jesus Christ told us to repent and believe after John the Baptist went to prison. It is very important to sincerely repent. 1Jn 3: 6. Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not. Whosoever sinneth, hath not seen Him, neither knoweth Him. We were also told to believe and that is the same Gospel Truth as having the faith Paul described in Ro 1:16-21. There, Paul told us that the Gospel reveals a Righteousness of God from faith unto faith. Does this have to do with Mt 6:33? Yes, it does. We cannot continue to belong to the Law of Sin and Death, we must belong to the Law of the Spirit of Life. That cannot take place until we seek first and find first according to Mt 6:33. We must go through the narrow Gate and travel on the narrow Road to belong to the Law of the Spirit of Life. Paul also wrote that the Gospel is the Power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes. That Power from on High was promised by Jesus Christ in Scriptures such as Lk 24 and Ac 1:1-11. In 1Co 1, we read that Power of God becomes our Wisdom from God, Righteousness, Sanctification and Redemption through Jesus Christ. This is the anointing from the Holy One that John wrote about in 1Jn 2, the anointing that teaches us. This is what it means to put on the Armor of Light that is Jesus Christ, Jn 1:1-18; Ro 13:12-14. There truly is something very specific that those of us with the Scriptures must seek first according to Mt 6:33 before we can put on the Armor of Light and let our Light shine. Read Ac 13 for a perfect example of Paul's preaching. Especially notice: Ac 13:47: For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee for a Light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the uttermost part of the earth. 48. And as the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the Word of God and as many as were ordained to eternal Life believed. 49. And the Word of the Lord was spread abroad throughout all the region. In the service of the Righteous One, anne |

Ro 13: 12. The night is far spent and the day is at hand. Let us, therefore, cast off the works of darkness and let us put on the Armor of Light. 13. Let us walk becomingly, as in the day, not in revelling and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and jealousy. 14. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. |

27 | how you have so much faith | 2 Tim 2:15 | canawedding | 193426
A lot of people claim to "have faith", even people who do not consider themselves Christians. Read Ro 1:16-21 where Paul is writing about Mt 6:33. After John the Baptist went to prison, then Jesus Christ began His earthly Ministry. In Mk 1:14-15 He said, "The time is fulfilled and the Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent ye and believe in the Gospel!" Believe what, exactly? Have faith in what, exactly?
28 | John 14:26 | John 3:5 | canawedding | 193360
Originally, there were no chapters and no verses in the Scriptures. Jn 3:1-21 is not about physical water; it is continued in Jn 4 and actually Jn 3 is also a continuation of Jn 1; Jn 2:1-11 just as Jn 7:37-39 is about the same Living Water of Jn 4:1-26 and the Water of Life in Rev 21-22; etc. Nicodemus was not ignorant about human birth but he was ignorant about something else and Jesus Christ did not excuse him. What did Nicodemus not know that he should have known as a teacher of Israel? Read Ro 1-8 about that same "flesh" of Jn 3:1-21. How must we go from the Law of Sin and Death to the Law of the Spirit of Life? The answer is very simple and it can be written in a very short paragraph. Those who have held on to Jesus Christ's Teaching will know His Truth and His Truth has set us free, Jn 8.
29 | When are names put in the Book of Life | Heb 6:4 | canawedding | 193324
Mt 13: 20. And he that was sown upon the rocky places, this is he that heareth the Word, and straightway with joy receiveth it; 21. yet hath he not root in himself, but endureth for a while; and when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the Word, straightway he stumbleth. 22. And he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that heareth the Word; and the care of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the Word, and he becometh unfruitful. 2Pe 2: 20. For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein and overcome, the last state is become worse with them than the first. 21. For it were better for them not to have known the Way of Righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn back from the Holy Commandment delivered unto them. 22. It has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog turning to his own vomit again, and the sow that had washed to wallowing in the mire. Mt 7: 21. Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in Heaven. 22. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy Name and by thy Name cast out demons and by thy Name do many mighty works? 23. And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you, depart from me, ye that work iniquity. |

Hello BradK, In Mt 6:33 Jesus Christ told us to seek first God's Kingdom and God's Righteousness. That same Righteousness is what Paul wrote so much about in Romans, Galatians and elsewhere. Ro 1:16-21 is an excellent summary of those Scriptures: 16. For I am not ashamed of the Gospel; for it is the Power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. [What, exactly, is it that we must believe after we seek first and find?] 17. For therein is revealed a Righteousness of God from Faith unto Faith as it is written: But the Righteous shall live by Faith. 18. For the Wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hinder the Truth in unrighteousness 19. because that which is known of God is manifest in them for God manifested it unto them. 20. For the invisible things of Him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even His everlasting Power and Divinity, that they may be without excuse 21. because that knowing God, they glorified Him not as God, neither gave thanks but became vain in their reasonings and their senseless heart was darkened. [Is the lie of Ro 1:25 the very same lie of 2Th 2? Yes, it is. What we must seek first and find can be found in Mt 1-13. What we must find first involves the narrow Gate and the narrow Road that few will find. Also, keep in mind Mk 1:14-15. What is it, exactly, that we must believe?]

The Water of Jn 3 is the same Water of Jn 4:1-26 and Rev 21-22 as well as a multitude of other Scriptures in the OT and NT. Remember, originally there were no chapters or verses! The Water of Jn 3 is the Water that must wash us "whiter than snow", Ps 51; Isa 1-2. Nicodemus didn't need a lesson in human birth but as one who claimed to be a teacher there was something he should have known but didn't. Did Jesus Christ excuse him? No, He did not.

Jesus Christ warned against it in Scriptures such as Mt 13. Heb 6 is very clear. So is Rev 2-3. Read Lk 24; Jn 20. Jesus Christ had to breathe on His disciples before they could fully understand the Scriptures then, do you think He has changed? I don't think He has changed and we certainly aren't any better than His first disciples. We must all seek first as we were commanded in Mt 6:33. We must find first so we can go through the narrow Gate and on to the narrow Road. Paul wrote about Mt 6:33 in Ro 1:16-21. What, exactly, did you find?

Dear Azure, My reply had the best intentions and thankfully i do think you understand that. Here is more on the subject: Gal 3: 26. For ye are all sons of God, through faith, in Christ Jesus. 27. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ did put on Christ. 28. There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither bond nor free, there can be no male and female; for ye all are one man in Christ Jesus. 29. And if ye are Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, heirs according to promise. Read Ro 4 about those who are Children of Abraham. Be sure to read Lk 24; Ac 1:1-11 to see what baptism that Scriptures is about. And, "through faith" is the faith we must have in what we find first according to Mt 6:33. This is most critical, anne robare |

Rev 19:13: ... and His Name is called The Word of God. Ac 2:21: And it shall be, that whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved. Ro 10:12. For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek: for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich unto all that call upon him: 13. for, Whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved. 1Pe 1: 22. Seeing ye have purified your souls in your obedience to the Truth unto unfeigned love of the brethren, love one another from the heart fervently: 23. having been begotten again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the Word of God, which liveth and abideth. 24. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my Word, and believeth him that sent me, hath eternal life, and cometh not into judgment, but hath passed out of death into life. 25. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour cometh, and now is, when the dead shall hear the Voice of the Son of God; and they that hear shall live.

God's entire Holy Bible declares His Righteousness, His Righteous Requirements, His Gift of Righteousness and His Righteous Judgment. In Mt 6:33, Jesus Christ said we must seek first God's Kingdom and God's Righteousness. Therefore, we must find first what He wants us to find. Remember: Only a few will find the narrow Gate and narrow Road, Mt 7. If we do not start on the right road, we will not go where we need to go. And, yes, we must "rather, do this" as you replied but what, exactly? What is "this" that we must do? After John the Baptist went to prison, not before but after, Jesus Christ began His earthly Ministry. He said we must repent and believe, Mk 1:14-15. What, exactly, must we believe? Does that have anything to do with Mt 6:33? Yes, it does as Paul also wrote in his critical summary of Romans in Ro 1:16-21. What, exactly, must we find first according to Jesus Christ's command in Mt 6:33 and Paul's teaching on the very same command in Ro 1:16-21?
