21 | why is Acts 2:44 not practiced today | Acts 2:44 | Thomas8 | 107710
Hi Tim, I totally agree that we are not under a command. I'm not sure a command can produce the oneness like we see in Acts 2 and that unity did not last long. Maybe only a change of heart can produce a family. (Act 5:4 KJVA) Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. The disciples were not forced together. They wanted to be together. Who amoung us today would be ashamed to keep back part of anything? God Bless You, Thomas |

23 | Foods | Acts 10:11 | Thomas8 | 107690
Peter was hungry: (Act 10:10 KJVA) And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, He had a vision which he did not understand: (Act 10:17 KJVA) Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate, The meaning is: (Act 10:28 KJVA) And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. |

26 | Does it still exist? | Rom 7:25 | Thomas8 | 110425
Hi Ray, I appreciate this... We are serving the law of God; we are serving in newness of the Spirit. But the flesh, however, is serving the law of sin. Thank you, Thomas |

30 | Any elders in Corinth? | 1 Cor 1:1 | Thomas8 | 206102
Hi Steve, Any ideas why there are no elders? Considering the problems in Corinth how would they have affected the situation? Was Corinthians written before the establishment of elderships? Any speculation invited. We might not know but I'm certainly wondering about this. |

31 | Any elders in Corinth? | 1 Cor 1:1 | Thomas8 | 206183
I ponder why Paul doesn't mention them. How does he handle the mess in Galatia? Does he address elders there? Any information on how Paul notes them anywhere would be appreciated. Thank you for your help. (I'm wondering that the church being in disarray Paul might start by chastising the elders - and that, perhaps, they had caused the divisions... but I do not see a bit of that, so far) |

33 | What promise? To Whom? | Gal 3:19 | Thomas8 | 202923
"the Seed (the Descendant, the Heir) should come, to and concerning Whom the promise had been made." Doesn't the Amplified version say that the promise was made to the Seed? NASB: "...the seed would come TO whom the promise had been made." |

34 | What promise? To Whom? | Gal 3:19 | Thomas8 | 202951
Hi Doc, Many versions seem to say that the promise was made to the Seed. I understand that promises were made to Abraham. Were any made to the Seed directly or is there something else in the Greek? NASB: "...the SEED would come TO WHOM the promise had been made." I did read (156918) and appreciate them. |

35 | alcohol scripturally wrong? | Eph 5:18 | Thomas8 | 203680
Hi Doc, Hank and lionheart, I imagine most every drinker has hit bottom and prayed for deliverance. I'm sure that they are sincere when they pray. Why are some redeemed and others not? I believe that sobriety is impossible for many of these people without divine intervention. AA and Rehab fail the people I'm talking about. So ... Why does God answer some prayers, "yes," and not all of them. What is the difference? This question applies to any drug addition or habitual sin. |

36 | Does consciousness vanish at death? | Phil 1:23 | Thomas8 | 205048
Hi Doc, I was not forming/supporting a doctrine. It has to do with methodology. I was showing that some opinions are based on very pliable concepts. A sleeper can dream and a living soul can be unconscious/coma or flat line temporarily. 7 years old ... and still going strong! I'm so impressed. I may learn to like this Internet stuff. :-) |

37 | Who will claim the reward? | Col 1:1 | Thomas8 | 222029
It is the verses that have value. Put them all on the table. "Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others pass judgment." (1 Corinthians 14:29 NASB) |
||||||
38 | Who will claim the reward? | Col 1:1 | Thomas8 | 222030
These verses most certainly should be on the table.

Hi, I realize that. To me, these notes are a work in progress, a never ending exposition of views on a verse.
40 | Should the pastor be honored as a king. | 1 Thess 2:6 | Thomas8 | 241258
1Th 2:3 For our exhortation does not come from error or impurity or by way of deceit; 1Th 2:4 but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who examines our hearts. 1Th 2:5 For we never came with flattering speech, as you know, nor with a pretext for greed--God is witness-- 1Th 2:6 nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, even though as apostles of Christ we might have asserted our authority. 1Th 2:7 But we proved to be gentle among you, as a nursing *mother* tenderly cares for her own children. 1Th 2:8 Having so fond an affection for you, we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us. 1Th 2:9 For you recall, brethren, our labor and hardship, how working night and day so as not to be a burden to any of you, we proclaimed to you the gospel of God. 1Th 2:10 You are witnesses, and so is God, how devoutly and uprightly and blamelessly we behaved toward you believers; 1Th 2:11 just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a *father* would his own children, Paul treated people like family, not customers. Did he get a salary? Would he retire? No stages but he was on the streets daily. |
