You are right when you say "plainly states" but this is what the Jews thought. Martha’s words at the time of Lazarus’ death are of interest here, for at that time God-fearing Jews had no hope other than an earthly resurrection. Martha’s faith was expressed in the words:- John 11:24 Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day." put with what is said at Ps 37:29 The righteous will inherit the land And dwell in it forever. It seems that the idea is powerfuly hinted at in the scriptures DBR |

So they then need an opportunity to be able to make a choice and this could only come if they where brought back and given the opportunity to be able to make it? As God is Love, what would you do in his place having all power at your fingertips, so to speak, with those who are innocent through no fault of their own, as we are made in his image having the ability to reflect his love? Looking a long way back in time in the below would cover the long dead as they can well be included in the time scale coverd by Pauls comment. Acts 17:29-30 “Seeing, therefore, that we are the progeny of God, we ought not to imagine that the Divine Being is like gold or silver or stone, like something sculptured by the art and contrivance of man. 30 True, God has overlooked the times of such ignorance, yet now he is telling mankind that they should all everywhere repent. Daniel 12:2 And there will be many of those asleep in the ground of dust who will wake up, these to indefinitely lasting life and those to reproaches [and] to indefinitely lasting abhorrence. Thus to be judged for good or bad John 5:28 Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which ALL those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice "ALL" in the above would seem to indiscriminate as to weither they are good or bad. Psalm 37:29 The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it. Prov 2 For the upright are the ones that will reside in the earth, and the blameless are the ones that will be left over in it. Proverbs 2:20-22 The purpose is that you may walk in the way of good people and that the paths of the righteous ones you may keep. 21 For the upright are the ones that will reside in the earth, and the blameless are the ones that will be left over in it. 22 As regards the wicked, they will be cut off from the very earth; and as for the treacherous, they will be torn away from it. This seems to speak of and earthly judgment to me and as the scriptures clearly state the unrighteous will be brought back they cannot go into heaven as they are unrighteous so in would appear that the only place left would be this earth and as ignorance can be a defence with the Loving God of the Bible then it would seem that further opportunities must be available other why not leave the unrighteous dead dead, why else bring them back, it seem logical to me. I know you as Hank and you make some interesting comments some I agree with some I do not, you know me as DBR I made some comments you may agree with and some you may not, like the 1st century Christians had their views so do we but it the Bible that matters you and I in fact all of us are at best worthless speck of dust but, what the Bible say that’s everything, that’s enough for me. I put down what the scriptures say to me, you may or may not agree. At Revelation 20:12-14 is recorded John’s vision of the earthly resurrection: “I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. But another scroll was opened; it is the scroll of life. And the dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls according to their deeds. And the sea gave up those dead in it, and death and Hades gave up those dead in them, and they were judged individually according to their deeds. And death and Hades were hurled into the lake of fire. This means the second death, the lake of fire.” I would seem that some mentioned in the above have need of judgment as they have made thier mind up on somthing that God has to judge. DBR |

27 | Are we gods? | John 10:34 | DBR | 127617
Eve did know the difference between god and bad because of her reply to the Devil:- Genesis 3:2-3 At this the woman said to the serpent: “Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat. 3 But as for [eating] of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘YOU must not eat from it, no, YOU must not touch it that YOU do not die.’” she knew what was good and bad as Adam had told her because this is what she said to Him, The Devil, so she diliabratly disobeyed God's command about the Tree, thus she died as well as Adam as they where both now sinners. What doe logic say, the same person that died must be resurrected, e.g. if a 50 yr old died then surely a 50yr old would be resorted as that is what they are, so if a 10yr old died the a 10yr old must be resurrected as they is what they are anything other than that cannot be the same person, is that not so? e.g. Lazarus was resurrected Lazarus as with all the resurrections recorded in the Bible including the ones that where young children, they contunued growing into adulthood as far as we know. 29 | Are we gods? | John 10:34 | DBR | 127575
The key for me is "like God" making her own mind up on what is good and bad, here in the Garden that right only belong the God the Father so to take that role upon oneself is to put one self in place of God, thus become the one saying what is right and wrong, here in the Garden only a God Right to do, she became a god assuming that role herself and even worse than that her husband agreed and because obedance is an act of worship in the Garden. Today that is the big issues world-wide will humans obey God The Father or not or make gods for themselves!. DBR |

31 | What does "gods" mean here? | John 10:34 | DBR | 127560
As I read the Psalm it is the God of the JEWS talking to them and about them warning then to stay away from the gods of the surounding nations and the good and the bad they have or could do, and a lot more there also. DBR |

32 | Are we gods? | John 10:34 | DBR | 127558
Well Adam and Eve should have remained obeying their Creator, God, to whom they should have looked to in making any decisions as to what was good or bad, He should have remained their only guide in there life, which he was for a time. Then Satan set himself up as a (false) God, he wanted their obedience:- 2 Cor 4:4 "In whom the god (Satan The Devil) of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." And Eve listened to his evil ideas instead of her Creators, so Satan then became her God because of her obedience to him etc.. Now to Adam, he should have listened to His God and Father so as to obey his God, or we can say obey His rule as God and Creator. Adam decided to OBEY someone else:- Gen 3:17 "And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;" So Adam now also shifted his allegiance to Satan via His wife so as he listened to his wife’s voice and not that of his maker, she then became a substitute for God The Father as Adam obeyed Her now. So we now have a matriarchal system of rule by Adams consent thus she became his ruler in place God his maker to whom he owed ALL allegiance, he followed her decisions of what was Good or Bad, as she made the decision to obey the serpent thus making herself a substitute for God the creator, She became Adam’s God as he obeyed her instead of God the Father e.g. the false religious leaders in Jesus made Satan the "Father" and God as they obeyed him by doing things his way, as Jesus pointed out, John 8:44 “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” Much the Same in the Garden in Eden as this is where false religion first started by changing of obedance from the true God to a self made gods, 1st Satan then Eve as she now made the deisions of what was to be right and wrong instead of The Father in essence she supplanted the Father for Adam, but as we now know under the influence of the Devil who had by their own choice become their father, thus the start of false religion and false gods. 34 | What does this verse mean? | John 10:34 | DBR | 127518
If you are referring to the "he" in vs. 1 this is The Father, Almighty God, rendering his judgment against the faithless human Judges and corrupt of Israel:- N.I.V. Study Bible. Comment on Ps 82:6. "I said. Those who rule (or judge) do so by God's appointment (see 2:7 ; Isa 44:28) and thus they are his representatives- whether they acknowledge him or not (see Ex 9:16; Jer 27:6; Da 2:21; 4:17.32; 5:18; Jn 17:11; Ro 13:1). gods. See note on v. 1*. sons of. See note on v, 1, Most High. See note on Ge 14:19." *"An early rabbinic interpretation (see Jn 10:35-35) understanding the "gods" (vv. 1,6) to be unjust rulers and judges in Israel, of whom there were many . . . ." K.J.V. Companion Bible, Ps 82:1 **"gods Elohim: used of earthly judges as representing Him. Cp. Ex. 21.6; 22.8, 9, 28 (quoted in Acts 23.5.). Hence Moses is so spoken of (Ex. 7. 1). (it is used also of idols as representing even a false god.) See John 10. 34, 35." "Verse 6. Ye are gods — Or, with the prefix of k ke, the particle of similitude, µyhlak keelohim, “like God.” Ye are my representatives, and are clothed with my power and authority to dispense judgment and justice, therefore all of them are said to be children of the Most High."-Clarke's Commentary OT, Vol. 3 Job - Song of Solomon by Adam Clarke p.1084 Sorry the Hebrew letters did not survive posting. 35 | YHWH, God's only name | Ex 3:14 | DBR | 127504
I agree with you as this is seen in the KJV 1611 Edition of the Holy Bible at Psalm 83 (LXXXIII) vs 18:- "That men knowe, that thou whose name is IEHOVAH: art the most High ouer all the earth." And:- THE NAME OF GOD THE FATHER "The NAME of God is described as his holy name more often than all other adjectival qualifications taken together. It was this sense of the sacredness of the name that finally led to the obtuse refusal to use 'Yahweh', leading as it has done to a deep lose of sense of the divine name in EV (with the notable exception of the J.B.). The holiness of the name, however, does not remove if from use but from abuse: this is the reason why revelation of the divine name must never confused with any thought of magical power with the divine. Far from man being able to use the name to control God, it is the name which controls man, both in worship Godward (e.g. Lv 18:21) and in service manward (e.g. Rom 1:5). The NAME is thus the motive of service; it is also the message (e.g. Acts 9:15), and the means of power (e.g. Acts 3:16; 4:12)."-'NEW BIBLE DICTIONARY', second edition p.813, also see p.430 DBR |

36 | How Many? | Rom 8:30 | DBR | 127478
Perhaps it might be better to see from the Bible who would not be included in the above because they do not obey Scriptual principles and see where this takes you? This may be a good starting point:- Jeremiah 7:23-24 But this word I did express in command upon them, saying: “Obey my voice, and I will become YOUR God, and YOU yourselves will become my people; and YOU must walk in all the way that I shall command YOU, in order that it may go well with YOU.”’ 24 But they did not listen, neither did they incline their ear, but they went walking in the counsels in the stubbornness of their bad heart, so that they became backward in direction and not forward, Exodus 19:5-6 And now if YOU will strictly obey my voice and will indeed keep my covenant, then YOU will certainly become my special property out of all [other] peoples, because the whole earth belongs to me. 6 And YOU yourselves will become to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you are to say to the sons of Israel.” James 3:17-18 But the wisdom from above is first of all chaste, then peaceable, reasonable, ready to obey, full of mercy and good fruits, not making partial distinctions, not hypocritical. 18 Moreover, the fruit of righteousness has its seed sown under peaceful conditions for those who are making peace. Romans 6:12-14 Therefore do not let sin continue to rule as king in YOUR mortal bodies that YOU should obey their desires. 13 Neither go on presenting YOUR members to sin as weapons of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, also YOUR members to God as weapons of righteousness. 14 For sin must not be master over YOU, seeing that YOU are not under law but under undeserved kindness. Acts 5:29 In answer Peter and the [other] apostles said: “We must obey God as ruler rather than men. DBR |

If there is no Magic why did God condemn it? Examples Leviticus 19:26 “‘YOU must not look for omens, and YOU must not practice magic. Exodus 7:11 However, Phar´aoh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers; and the magic-practicing priests of Egypt themselves also proceeded to do the same thing with their magic arts. Deuteronomy 18:10-11 There should not be found in you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens or a sorcerer, 11 or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events or anyone who inquires of the dead. Micah 5:12 And I will cut off sorceries out of your hand, and no practicers of magic will you continue to have. DBR |
