Greetings EdB, I did an extensive study on that very subject several years ago and came up with the same exact conclusion, i.e. you hit the nail right on the head. Everybody that tries to figure this out assumes that the Sabbath is Saturday and that’s where they get all mixed up when counting back. I was told that the process as was discussed in the earlier posts is a carryover from Romanism and the Sabbath had to be Saturday: NOT! There is a great book out on “The Jewish Feast” that was written by a Marvin Rosenthal; the art work in it is fantastic and it was through this book that it was made clear to me. How many books does your OKJV Bible have in it? If there are only sixty six then it isn’t of the oldest KJV. I examined an old KJV that had the books that are called the Deuterocanonical Books of the Bible. These are books which are included in some version of the canonical Bible, but which have been excluded at one time or another, for textual or doctrinal issues. These are 'Deuterocanonical', which literally means 'the secondary canon.' I’ve memorized numerous verses from the KJV but in fact the accuracy of this translation suffers from countless anachronisms due in part to the Elizabethan English. The KJV was also translated from the Textus Receptus Manuscript, which the better scholars have found to be inferior to other manuscripts that have been discovered since that period. CDBJ |

Greetings, In reading Gen 8:21 the translations that I have don’t describe what you have inferred and there are about nine more that I haven’t listed here and they don’t suggest what you are saying either. Greetings, Every believer at the point of trusting in Jesus Christ for their salvation receives 39 irrevocable absolutes and 1 revocable absolute. Compiled by Lewis Sperry Chafer, Dallas Theological Seminary revised by R.B. Thieme jr. Dallas Theological Seminary We are filled with the Spirit at the point of salvation but when believers commit that first act of sin after salvation the total filling and control of the Spirit is quenched and the believer is instructed to fill this deficiency. The only thing that grieves or quenches the Spirit is when the believer sins; the only way to recover from that condition is the exercise of 1 John 1:9 (NKJV) 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. No believer is ever totally free of their Old Sin Nature until they are removed from their present physical body by death or the rapture. All believers at any one point in time are either carnal or spiritual, it is an absolute, which means it is either 100 percent one way or the other, and there is no 25percent carnal and 75 percent spiritual or 50/50 as it were. What this means is that ones old sin nature is in control 100 percent of the time or the Holy Spirit is 100 percent in control. Anything that the believer does in the way of works for rewards, will be awarded at the Judgment seat of Christ shortly after the resurrection of the believers body when Christ returns for His bride the church. The efforts of working for Christ in any form must come from the influence or guiding of the Holy Spirit not from the dictates of ones old sin nature commonly referred to as the flesh. The Koine Greek word (SARX) is used interchangeably for the flesh, the old sin nature and the word carnal. The all represent the believer being dictated to by their old sin nature and is the energy of the flesh in action. If there is any unconfessed sin in the believers life the efforts performed are from the old sin nature and they will be burned up like wood, hay and straw. The works performed while in fellowship or under the control of the Holy Spirit will be counted at the judgment seat of Christ as gold, silver and precious stones and these don’t burn. 1 Corinthians 3:8-15 (NKJV) Paul is speaking here: 8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. 9 For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, you are God's building. 10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. Ephesians 5:18 (NKJV) 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, The word dissipation is translated from the Koine Greek word (ASOTIA) and it infers that the one filled with wine is under its control and acting like the unsaved. ASOTIA is a compound word the first part (A) is what’s known as the alpha privative or a negative in the Greek, it is coupled with (SOZO) which is where we get the word saved, i.e. those under the influence of to much wine are dictated to by the wine and acting as an unsaved person. The word (but) in, (but be filled) is the Koine (ALLA) and is a contrastive conjunction which say, don’t be controlled buy the wine (but) be filled with and controlled by the Holy Spirit! CDBJ |

Friend, I think you have completely missed what I have tried to convey to you but then maybe I’m mixed up, you tell me! I’ll try again: In your post you stated this; (when these commissions were wrote Christ had not ascended back to the Father yet) I surmise that you meant written instead of wrote which we could say penned, for sake of clarity, when the writer produced his literary work. The problem is, there wasn’t any written form of the New Testament in any form until, and this is debated, the writings of Paul or James and that was from somewhere between 45 A.D. and 55 A.D. Most everyone knows that Matthew, Mark, Luke and John weren’t the first books written in the New Testament; that’s just how man placed them in the file of books that we call the Bible. Jesus had been seated along side the Father at His right hand for many, many years before we had any script of the New Testament. If that was not the case how could Paul have seen Jesus while on the road to Damascus when Paul became a believer, seeing that his writings were those of the earliest? Your material isn’t in question; it’s your time frame that has to be off as to when the earliest books of the New Testament were written. I hope you see what I’m trying to explain, no harm intended! The fact of the matter is we as believers in Jesus don't practice sin but if it happens that we sin we have 1 John 1:9 (KJV) 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. When we do sin it puts us out of fellowship with the Holy Spirit but 1 John 1;9 put us back in fellowship if we name that sin to God. I hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

Greetings, Matthew 27:52-53 (NKJV) 52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many. This has always been a debated situation and no one can say for sure but I can give you my slant on what it “might“ be? Taking into consideration the following: Ephesians 4:8-10 (KJV) 8 Wherefore he saith, and gave gifts unto men. 9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) The part of these verses that I would like to emphasis is this, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, The captives are found in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus and what is depicted is the fact that before Jesus died on the Cross mankind wasn’t able to go to heaven as it were due to the fact that their sins were only atoned for, which is noting more then a covering. They were completely trusting in God’s Messiah that was to come but their sins had not been taken away yet, as per, John 1:29 (KJV) 29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. The key words are TAKETH AWAY the sin of the world, i.e. payment in full not just covered as in the Old Testament sacrifices of animal substitutes for the real thing to come. Due to this fact those believers of the OT had to go to a place referred to as Abraham’s bosom. This is pointed out in the parable. Luke 16:19-31 (KJV) 19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Now those in the parable had “some kind of an interim body” due to the fact there are four of the five senses mentioned and used in the parable the only one not noticed is the sense of smell but keep in mind that these aren’t glorified bodies like those in the resurrection. According to 1Cor 15 those that their bodies have died, i.e. as sleep because they will rise again, will get their new glorified bodies before those that will be changed in the twinkling of a eye, i.e. those that are still alive when Christ returns to be gloried in His saints. Any how, that’s “my take” on those that were dead and walking around after Christ paid the price for the sins of the world and was resurrected. CDBJ |

Greetings, If it’s OK with you, in order not to cause confusion, I would like to answer these one at a time? First question to answer; “is there a difference between being judged for you works, and being rewarded for your works in Rev 22:12? I’m not sure. Also I don’t know what (BEMA) means.” My intent was to show that every born again believer in Christ will stand before Him to be rewarded for that which was done while still in the flesh. 2 Corinthians 5:10 (NKJV) 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. This is a judgment for rewards, (Koine Greek “BEMA” is like the reward stand at the Olympic games), not for our sins, they were all judged at the cross and Jesus paid for those and not only ours but for the whole world. 1 John 2:2 (NKJV) 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. The rewards for our lives while as believers here in this life will be rewarded as follows. 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 (NKJV) 11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. Hi Again EdB, On the subject of "written theology"; years ago I use to get audio tapes from a fellow that lived in Arizona and his name was Larry Wright and he was a fabulous teacher with the most relaxed manner about him, he’s at home with the Lord now. Anyway he was talking, or should I say witnessing, to a fellow one day about the Bible and Christ and the guy said, with a frown on his face, “I don’t believe the Bible because it was “written by man”. Now Larry was the type that would come out with thing that people would say later; “wow I wish I had thought of that”, you know the type, very quick witted. Any way, he came right back and blurted out, “Well who did you expect to write it; “A DUCK?” That one has stuck with me for years. Hi EdB, You’ve been around here a long time, It appears like everybody on the forum is getting bent out of shape this last month, I haven’t seen it this bad in the 11 or so years that I’ve been on the forum; what gives? What’s the big deal on theology, all it is, is a catch all and it’s a compound word from the Greek “Theos” - God and lology - study of and it more or less lumps it all together. Doctrines on the other hand are the individual topics found in Scripture grouping verses covering the numerous individual topics as one group including everything on that subject. Example, which I know for sure you know, but for the benefit of others. Eschatology, Pneumatology, Soteriology, Harmatology, Thanatology etc. etc. odd infinite item and the list goes on and on! It seems lately like people feel as though they are all being picked on or something; are you noticing this same vibe; it’s either that or some are carrying an awful big chip on their shoulder? A poll which only confuses the issue isn’t needed, i.e. human viewpoint. The main crux is, thus says the Word of the Lord. It is often found within the text of Holy writ what is known as a parenthetical phrase or clause. These are not necessary words or phrases as they don’t actually contribute to the truth conveyed by the main subject of the sentence. If we were talking about math, namely fractions, it would be the same as boiling everything down to its most common denominator for a single truth. The simplest fact of salvation is as follows. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. The proof of this is found in actually by observance of the thief on the cross and Christ’s response to him. At the beginning he was in league with the other thief but then he had a change of mind as to the person of the Lord Jesus Christ as he called Him Lord or (KORIOS) in the Koine Greek of the Scripture. Luke 23:42-43 (NASB) 42 And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!" 43 And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise." (And he was saying,)as in the previous verse is broken down like this. It's in the indicative mood, imperfect tense, active voice of the verb (ELEGEN) from the root word (LEGO). The indicative mood means reality or certainty, the imperfect tense informs us of something we don’t find in the English translation, i.e. he literally kept on saying, Jesus remember me when You come in Your kingdom, Jesus remember me when You come in Your kingdom, Jesus remember me when You come in Your kingdom, The active voice means that the thief produced the action of the verb. The next question many might ask is this, when did the thief repent? This is, “one of,” the most misunderstood verbs in the Bible. Repent comes to us from the Koine Greek verb (METANOEO) it’s a compound word that means to have a change of thinking or a change of mind and it has absolutely nothing to do with being sorry for sin! God isn’t impressed with how we feel about sin all He considers is what His Son did for those sins. Nothing we can do will ever impress God; the only thing that He is impressed with is the work that Jesus Christ His unique Son finished on the cross for those sins!!! Anything anyone adds to “faith alone” in Jesus Christ “alone” and what He did on the cross is barking up the wrong tree and they better get their eyes off of themselves and get them fixed on the person of God’s Precious Son before it’s too late. Sorry to have rattled you: what I was trying to do was to present a paronomasia. I realize what Matt. 16:28 says, but for your position to be correct, what it actually said shows that your opinion of the Kingdom coming at Pentecost can’t be possible. All of the apostles with the exception of Judas were in the upper room on the day of Pentecost “not just some”, which is what was said by Christ when He pronounced the seeing of the Kingdom coming. Greetings, If you are asserting that the Kingdom came on the day of Pentecost there would be a glitch in your thesis especially since you used Matt.16:28 Is this what Matt. 16:28 says? Matthew 16:28 28 Verily I say unto you, “all of you standing here”, shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. i.e. they were all there for Pentecost, right? The answer is yes but that isn’t what Matt16:28 says now is it? Matthew 16:28 (KJV) 28 Verily I say unto you, There be “some” standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. The word "some" is translated from the Koine Greek and it is the enclitic indefinite pronoun “TIS”. If it would have meant all, as you suggest, The adjective “PAS” would have been used. The Kingdom that was being referred to is when Christ returns in full visible Glory, Peter, James and John were given a ring side seat for the later coming attraction in Matt. 17;1-3 Matthew 17:1-3 (KJV) 1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. When this finally takes place and the Kingdom comes God’s perfect will, will be done on Earth as it is in heavenand the enemies of Christ will be made His foot stool! Jesus won’t be seated at the right hand of the Father at this time. He will be on the move as displayed in Rev. 1:7. Revelation 1:7 (KJV) 7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I know exactly what you mean but unless you can except what the Bible says with regards to that statement by Christ, which is answered in the next chapter it doesn't make any sense unless you have been deluded by the “false doctrine of preterism”. Jesus was refering to His transfigurition, which it explained in the next chapter in the first few verses. CDBJ |
