21 | Does God agree with people suing others? | Matt 5:40 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67726
Personally, I feel that it depends on if the suit is moral or immoral...if you sue McDonalds for spilling hot coffee on your lap or for your child being overweight, how moral are you being by not being acountable for your own actions? On the other hand, if you sue an institution for not allowing you or others to have and/or practice their constitutional rights (say...freedom of religion) then maybe you are taking a stand for liberties that are moral and just and would be in God's good graces for helping or defending His people. I don't know if there is anything specific in the Bible about lawsuits and I do know that God says "Vengence is Mine" So you could make the argument that a lawsuit is a way to get redemption instead of leaving vengence or punishment to God...However, we are also taught to obey man's law...and I believe as God hardened Pharoah's heart to do His Own Will that He will also do work for His Own Will in a court of law!
22 | Where is Jesus called "...the God"? | John 1:1 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67725
All I can tell you is that Jesus was God in the flesh. This fact is in the Bible and the Bible is True! I recommend that whenever in doubt of the Bible or it's translation to cross-reference with other Bibles...also, never go on just one verse or chapter but gather evidence based on what the Bible says about a subject throughout the whole Book!
23 | What does 1 Corithians 15: 27-29 mean? | NT general Archive 1 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67724
Each individual is saved based off their own personal commitment to Jesus Christ. If a person who is alive gets saved (and, by the way, they need to be alive)they can sanctify others...like a wife can sanctify her husband or children but, I believe, that means she can give them and all others who see her the encouragement or desire to change (become saved) by example of how being saved has changed her or helped her...her light is now shining...her relatives who are dead either were already saved or not...and only themselves and God knows whether or not they were saved...some believe that at the end the dead will rise and during Tribulation those who were not saved will get a last chance to convert but you seek out the Scripture and find out for yourself...God will guide you if you request it!
24 | I need scriptures pretaining to gambling | Bible general Archive 1 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67723
I don't think there is any Scripture directly about gambling but there are many that you can use for it like not worshipping money or putting it above God...I cannot tell you exact chapter and verse but look in New Testament when Jesus speaks about man not being able to worship two masters or where He tells a rich boy who asks how to be perfect to give away all that he has or the whole Den of Thieves scene...all New testament all Jesus's teachings...all True!
25 | Drugs other than alcolhol in the Bible? | Ex 30:23 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67722
I believe only wine or drinking is mentioned in the Bible...all I can tell you is that the Bible does say that our bodies are the Temple of God and we are to not defile it...but don't think any of us are perfect even if saved as I type this I take a drag off my cigarette....sigh!....God has work to do on me as on us all!
26 | Satan can't interpret tongues?In script? | NT general Archive 1 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67721
Ya know...if you are speaking in tongues without interpretation...not only can Satan not understand you but I can't understand you either and neither can the unsaved person next to me...the Bible describes this in detail and my understanding is that when you speak in tongues it is between you and God only...if you speak tongues in public you must have an interpretor or have an interpretation so that those around you, including Satan, can understand you...otherwise, you appear as a lunatic or crazy person and your words...your worship is in vain...your light cannot shine if it is not seen...or understood! Did that make any sense!?
27 | RULES FOR A WOMAN IN THE BIBLE | Exodus | tremere123@comcast.net | 67720
There are many verses directed at women specifically which I would love to just give you but don't know them off the top of my head...but remember that woman came from men and Scriptually God is head of the church...church is head of the man and man is head of the woman...I don't believe woman should be offended at that logic or other, seemingly male-thinking, verses but rather believe through experience and through observing nature itself that there has to be an order for peace to exist...without structure or order there is chaos! Search this out!
28 | favorite bible passages. | Bible general Archive 1 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67718
Why not find your own favorite passages?...rely not on people nor yourself for understanding but on God...let Him lead your heart...and know that reading the Bible is not meant to entertain us, although It does, rather that It is a means to build a relationship with God. I guess I just don't want you to read what other people's favorites are or the most exciting parts rather read the whole thing so that you will be able to develop your own favorites based on Scripture that speaks to you...and It will speak to you!
29 | Is God's will prosperity/healing always? | Rom 8:28 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67717
Consider that as a Christian, you are God's servant...actually, Christian or not...we are all God's servant...but if you proclaim Jesus Christ you are enlisted into God's Army...so one can only imagine that God would want you to be as strong as you can be...not so much in prosperity or health in a man's sense but prosperity and health in a spiritual sense...you are His soldier afterall...there is scripture to support this!
30 | Mercy can only go so far... right? | Eph 5:5 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67716
The Bible should not have to be stolen and, in my understanding and experience, is meant to be given freely amoungst us...I'm sure we all agree that God has made it clear that it's a sin to steal but...in my opinion, God is probably more angry at those who sell the Bible for profit and at anyone who has not given a Bible freely to one in need then to someone who, for whatever reason, felt the need to steal the Word of God....furthermore, it seems like God would prefer that a person get into the Word by whatever means possible than to not at all...although, I do not condone stealing, I would find it hard to judge a person or condemn them for taking what God has already freely given to us all from the beginning!
31 | Does God help those that help themselves | Bible general Archive 1 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67714
I cannot give you actual chapter and verse but I do know that Jesus had said "You have not because you ask not" which, to me, means if your asking God for help...you are, in essence, trying to help yourself and, therefore, will be helped...If we are sitting around feeling sorry for ourselves and lose hope in finding solutions to our problems then we must have lost faith in God...so, logically the statement is true...and it may actually be in the Bible, I'm not sure...I can only verify that there are many Bible verses to support it!
32 | Can a born again sin as they did before? | 1 John 1:8 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67713
I think once your "born again" you're always "born again" regardless of if you stumble...However, only those who are sincere of heart in their commitment to God...and only God knows the heart...are those that struggle to be as sinless as possible due to their love and faith in Jesus Christ...there is only one sin that cannot be forgiven and that is to deny or "blasphemy" God once you make the commitment to become "reborn". ..to deny Him...that is merely my own understanding, but you should search the Scriptures for yourself.
33 | Is the Old Testament obsolete? | Rom 7:12 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67712
I look at it this way...we were given the 10 commandments in the Old Testament. In the New Testament their was an "addendum" made called the New Covenant (Jesus)...an addendum is an "addition to"...it does not erase the original but rather adds to it...when Jesus says "I give you a new commandment..." he means something new to us not something to replace the old...and, really, what would it mean if you only obeyed the commandements in the New Testament but broke the Old Testament commandments...you would love your neighbor as yourself then making it okay to kill a man!?? I think we need and were given both the Old and New Testaments for a reason...also, God didn't have the 10 commandments written in sand...they were carved in stone by God Himself...usually when we say "carved in stone" we mean forever! I think God meant forever as well!
34 | No one should have to steal a Bible | Eph 5:5 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67711
I'm not sure I truly understand how you got "stealing the bible" out of that verse...but it seems to me that this is referring to people who will fall away from their walk with God or from righteousness and that the person who caused them to stumble whether by lies or trickery or whatever is in big trouble! I was always taught that a Bible is always given freely...and we know from Scripture that the Word is written in our hearts by God. I do know that some believe that in Tribulation or one of those end periods that the world will have no scripture or that it will be taken away, banished so-to-speak...and that only those who studied or can remember will be able to lead others...but I myself am undecided on that theory...so far!
35 | Satan can't read minds | Jeremiah | tremere123@comcast.net | 67065
Ya know, I have heard that before and I cannot find any scripture to back it up but I believe it's true because only God can read our hearts...I feel that Satan can only read our body language...he is a mere fallen angel who, it seems, only has power when God wants to use him to test us like in Job...also Satan and/or the "Sons of Disobedience" are mentioned as being only mindful of worldly things and not of Godly things...which, to me, means Satan or demons are excellent at watching us to see if we are weak or vulnerable...they are excellent at reading us in a human sense, like psychiatrists but not as God can...!
36 | What does this verse mean? | Matt 6:7 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67064
If your prayers are repitious they are probably insincere...this means be sincere and have a personal relationship with God...speak from your heart don't just recite prayer over and over, make sense!?
37 | Is God responsible for evil? | Bible general Archive 1 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67063
God created Satan and allows him to test us...God hardened Pharoah's heart...God created darkness...but we choose the evil that was created by God when we fall...therefore God has created two directions in which we can go...what good would free will be without choices?
38 | Is John 6:66 the answer to 666 riddle? | John 6:66 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67062
Very interesting! I agree with your theory...in Revelation 13:18 it says that the number of the beast is the number of a man and also, in Rev. 21:17 it gives the measurement of a wall as 144 cubits according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel...I figured the cubits to feet are 216 feet...and if you multiply 6 X 6 X 6 you also get 216.....?! So the measurement or number of the beast is the same as the number of an angel and both are the number of a man...meaning we can be one or the other or both!!!
39 | JESUS GREW IN WISDOM | Heb 5:8 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67061
I think that basically means he grew up in the human sense...yes he was God incarnate...he had to grow because he was in the flesh...I don't think he became to know who he was until he asked Mary why she was looking for him...He said don't you know I'm doing my Father's work?...something to that effect...anyway, I think, as a child and up till then he was just a child in His own mind...remember He is our example...we are all Sons of God...and are to grow in wisdom and stature, right?!
40 | Is slavery OK? (Lev 25:44) | Lev 25:44 | tremere123@comcast.net | 67060
Of course, slavery is rampant in the bible and so is the freeing of captives...my belief, is that there are captives or servants made free to show the grace or mercy of God...what does the Truth do? The Truth sets you free...the bible or Jesus is the Truth...Everything God does, mostly, is for His namesake...to show His Power and His Glory...any hardship he places on us, like when He hardened Pharoah's heart, is for the purpose of saving us so that we can believe Him and worship Him...there has to be darkness so that the light can shine...get it!?
