22 | I NEED SOMEONE TO EXPOUND ON ROM 8:20 | Rom 8:20 | srprimeaux | 71086
The "creature" in verse 19 is referring to the creation eagerly looking forward to the revelation of the sons of God in the Millennium because that is the time when the curse will be lifted and creation will be restored to Edenic conditions. Verse 20 is a reference to the curse of Genesis 3:14-19 and considers the whole thing as unnecessary. Creation did not actively participate in the Fall.
23 | Christ 'made Himself nothing'? | Phil 2:6 | srprimeaux | 71081
The phrase "made Himself nothing" is lit. "emptied Himself." He did this, not by giving up deity, but laying aside His glory (see 2 Cor. 8:9). Jesus is truly God and truly man. Another view is that He emptied Himself, not of deity itself, but of its perogatives--the high position and glory of deity.
24 | Jesus God. Grasping equality? | Phil 2:6 | srprimeaux | 71080
Jesus Christ has always been God by nature, equal with the Father before, during, and after His time on earth (see John 1:1; 8:58; 17:24; Col. 1:15; also see Mark 1:11 and John 20:28). Christ, however, did not cling to his divine rights, but He let go His privileges and glory in heaven in order that we on earth might be saved.
