21 | Responsibility of faith | Rom 3:23 | hobbs | 171889
Dear BARBAQUED, "You asked "What becomes of the those who belive in God but do not accept the GIFT?" Mark 1:15 and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel." Belief apart from repentance is not a belief that saves anyone from God's wrath. faith and repentance are also part of God's grace. Hobbs |

22 | The need to recognize jesus as savior | Rom 3:23 | hobbs | 171885
Dear BARBAQUED, your answer is found in the Bible. I've included just a few verses out of the many. Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Rom 3:12 ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE." Jesus Christ is the only exception! Heb 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Eternity apart from God is nothing to laugh about. Whether the firey torments are actual or figurative, believe me, those who will experience them will wish they had never been born. Hobbs |

23 | Is sacrifice requirement to christianity | Bible general Archive 3 | hobbs | 171565
Dear Jared, First of all, I must tell you that the only organization that has been tasked with preaching the gospel and for equipping the saints is the church! Matt 16:18 "I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. I will pray for you and ask God to lead you to a church that teaches sound doctrine, where the gospel is proclaimed and Christ is lifted up. I did some looking into YWAM and found some information that was disturbing to me. The fact that Benny Hinn has preached his false doctrine to the youth of YWAM is beyond belief. Trust in Christ and realize that He will lead you and give you the strength to carry you throughout your life. God Bless you Brother |

Eph 4:4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; Eph 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, Eph 4:6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. In Love, John |

26 | will they go to hell? | Acts 4:12 | hobbs | 171392
Dear Max, one often hears the question, 'WHAT HAPPENS TO THE INNOCENT SAVAGE WHO HAS NEVER HEARD THE GOSPEL? The fact is that is no such thing as an "innocent" savage. Rom 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. and Rom 3:9-18 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE." "THEIR THROAT IS AN OPEN GRAVE, WITH THEIR TONGUES THEY KEEP DECEIVING," "THE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS"; "WHOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS"; "THEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHED BLOOD, DESTRUCTION AND MISERY ARE IN THEIR PATHS, AND THE PATH OF PEACE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN." "THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES." John 6:43,44 Jesus answered and said to them, "Do not grumble among yourselves. No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day." John |

27 | how do you receive the full blessing | Col 2:2 | hobbs | 171357
Greetings VMcGlocking, If a person is in Christ, that person is wealthier than Soloman ever dreamed of being. We have recieved eternal life and are co-heirs with Christ. Even our trials are more precious than gold! Time prevents me from even beginning to describe how blessed we are. Col 2:2 that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ Himself. As for the wealth that the world seeks; it is dust and a mere illusions. Welcome to the Forum my friend, John |

28 | Loving God with all your heart | Gen 1:1 | hobbs | 171347
Welcome to the club Nightjay! Not a single one of us can, in all honesty, say that we love God with all our heart. To love Him with all your heart would mean that sin was a thing of the past; that falling to temptation was never a problem. John Newton, who wrote the hymn "Amazing Grace", also wrote... I asked the Lord, that I might grow In faith, and love, and every grace; Might more of His salvation know, And seek more earnestly His face. I hoped that in some favoured hour At once He'd answer my request, And by His love's constraining power Subdue my sins, and give me rest. Instead of this, he made me feel The hidden evils of my heart; And let the angry powers of hell Assault my soul in every part. Yea more, with his own hand He seemed Intent to aggravate my woe; Crossed all the fair designs I schemed, Blasted my gourds, and laid me low. 'Lord, why is this?' I trembling cried, 'Wilt thou pursue Thy worm to death?' 'Tis in this way,' the Lord replied, 'I answer prayer for grace and faith. 'These inward trials I employ 'From self and pride to set thee free; 'And break thy schemes of earthly joy, 'That thou may'st seek thy all in me.' |

29 | Must Christians follow OT Law? | James 2:10 | hobbs | 171281
Hi Rich, You've most likely have gotten an answer already. Nevertheless, I would be pleased to provide my point of view. What Christians are free from is not the Law itself, but free from the penalty of failing to keep the Law. Read Romans 7. John |

30 | Salvation not through faith alone? | Romans | hobbs | 171232
RS, No. What I mean to say is that the Bible says that regeneration by the Holy Spirit preceeds faith. The "natural man" considers spiritual truth as foolishness and that he is totally incapable of understanding because he is spiritually dead. Saving faith is a spiritual gift, without which no man may be saved. Eph 2:5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 2 Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; James 1:17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. Grace that did not include the gift of faith, would be useless to the spiritually dead. John |

32 | Coffee and Cigarettes a sin ? | 1 Cor 3:17 | hobbs | 170856
My understanding of cor 3:17 leads me to believe that this verse has nothing to do with smoking; coffee; glutoney; or any personal habit, pleasure or weakness. When taken in context (which we all should strive to remember to do) we realize that Paul is referring to the Church and not to the individual. John |

33 | differemces | Bible general Archive 3 | hobbs | 170688
Acts 17:11 Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. You asked "how do various denominations jusify through scripture their interpertation differences?" I believe that an answer to that question would fill an entire library! But I will say that some are further from the truth than others, and that even those who are the closest are far from perfect. Cults and their ilk, have no idea at all what the Bible is all about because they have not the Holy Spirit. (1 Cor 2:14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.) John |

34 | ... | 2 Tim 3:16 | hobbs | 170358
It is my opinion that the problem the lies not with the Scripture itself, but rather with the reader of Scripture. I’m as guilty of imposing my own views upon the text as anyone else. We all are guilty to one extent or another! I trust that in your opening statement you meant to say the subjectiviztion of Scripture rather than the ” subjectivity of Scripture”. Naturally, once the printing press was invented, it was inevitable that the Bible would become available to a far greater number of people. While in itself this was a good thing, it also presented problems, and offered opportunities for misunderstandings and even deliberate abuse. What is needed is godly and educated teachers whose only agenda is the glorification of their Lord and Saviour! In a perfect world all Christians would be experts in the ancient languages; would hold Ph.ds in Middle-Eastern history etc., but as we can all attest, our world is a fallen world populated by fallen people. Thank God that He has provided us with a Helper. He has not left us to struggle with these issues on our own. How do I know this to be true? I read it in the Bible. How do I know that the Bible is true? I read that the Bible is true in the Bible J Some may call that circular reasoning…I call it faith. Not blind faith, but a faith that has been informed by my own experience. Indeed, my personal evidence is subjective to a certain degree, but I have objective evidence as well…the changed lives of many people whom I know and love. There is also the absolutely magnificent Book itself! Keep perservering in your pursuit of knowing God. Keep in mind that you are on a pilgrimage and that you may have a long and arduous ways to go. Most importantly, know that you have a guide and Helper to keep you on the beaten path. A fellow pilgrim, John |

35 | Discuss to be justified by faith | Gal 2:16 | hobbs | 170120
The simplest answer which I can offer is that good works are the evidence of true faith in the life of a Christian. If a person does not have this evidence, I would suggest that he may not be truly saved. It is also important to realize that our good works are not really our's. They are a manifestation of Christ living in us. Eph 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. I hope this helps... John |

36 | Are we to expect unity? | Gal 3:28 | hobbs | 170050
Dear WOS, From what sources does this controversy arise? I need more info for me to be able answer in an informed manner. Do these "seperatists" appeal to Scripture? If so what argument do they offer? The fact that all those whom God calls unto salvation are incorporated in the body of Christ, in my mind, is as solid a doctrine as any that I can imagine. |

37 | how long does it take God to forgive u | Luke 15:20 | hobbs | 169955
Of course! Consider the thief on the cross. Rom 8:1,2 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. The Bible does not teach that unconfessed sin will disqualify one from salvation. God's elect have had all their sins (past, present and future) forgiven at Calvary. There is NOTHING we can do to add or subtract from His work on our behalf. If we look at the BIG picture, we see that our forgiveness from sin was accomplished long before we were born! Eph 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will,... Grace and Peace, John |

38 | Church staff's salary questionable | 1 Tim 3:7 | hobbs | 169859
Dear Bereaniam, I would leave any so-called church that preached gospel contrived to make us fat, dumb and happy. Matt 4:8 Again, the devil *took Him to a very high mountain and *showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory; Matt 4:9 and he said to Him, "All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me." Luke 12:34 "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. John |

39 | is the mark of the Beast in our minds? | Rev 14:9 | hobbs | 169817
The Shepherd's Chapel is, at the very least, a controversial church with many unorthodox doctrines. The following list of teachings from the Shepherd's Chapel is derived from scouring the Internet, chat rooms, bulletin boards, asking the followers of Arnold Murray, and looking at the Shepherd's Chapel web site. Even though the Shepherd's Chapel is considered to be a non-Christian cult by many people, it is left to be fully determined whether or not it is. Unorthodox Denies the Trinity and teaches that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are really three offices held by the one God. Denies the existence of eternal Hell. Denies the doctrine of the rapture. Denies physical resurrection of believers. We will be raised spiritually. Teaches annihilationism: non-existence after death for sinners. Teaches that certain Old Testament kosher laws regarding meat should be followed. Teaches Serpent Seed doctrine: Eve had literal sexual relations with the serpent. The offspring of Eve's impregnation resulted in Cain, Satan's offspring. The Kenites are the tares of the parable of the wheat and the tares in Matt. 13. Satan's fallen angels impregnated women around the time of Noah. Interracial marriage is wrong. Being born again is to enter into this body from a spiritual body of another age. America and Britain are the lost tribes of Israel. People were alive in a pre-existence. There was an earth age prior to Adam where a race of people lived. The Rapture is a false doctrine. 40 | Decisional regeneration? | Acts 2:38 | hobbs | 169814
Dear CDBJ, it is my understanding that it is the Gospel which has the power to save and that all who believe what it proclaims concerning the Christ are actually saved through believing it's message. That being said, I would be uncomfortable in presuming that the mere simplicity of the message would disqualify that person from salvation. I realize that my concern was not raised directly by your question, however it does imply the possibility of such a result. Along with you, I deplore preaching that uses little catch phrases. They probably create more bad than good. Tim made a good point in his example of Paul and the Phillipian jailer: Acts 16:31 They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." But as Paul Havey is known for saying. Now for the rest of the story...Acts 16:32 And they spoke the word of the Lord to him together with all who were in his house. I take comfort in the knowledge that all whom God calls unto His Son will come to Him. When He sets out to do something, Brother...it gets done! John |
